I can understand why the bland idea was put out there, but I agree that it's more unfinished than bland. Like we talked about pages ago, there are certain sections, like after the 3f where he has his breather, where it is empty.... which can be easily remedied by a simple move in the field that doesn't require a lot of energy. I really think the program from the 4T until the end doesn't need tweaking at all. It is quite full of detail and he seemed to be able to inject more feeling into it from then on. BUT, I think more can be added choreographically and since his stamina is already much improved compared to this time last year, I think he could pay more attention to the details and quality of the elements without sacrificing his jumps. I think also he'll start to feel and understand where the highs and lows are in the program so he can perform it better too. It takes time to figure that out, especially with music like this that doesn't have obvious peaks and valleys to follow.
I just went to good old youtube and watched last year's SC and this year's SC (free programs) and it is amazing that the scores, particularly in presentation, are almost exactly the same... 88 and change for both. In watching them, it is quite interesting to note how different he is this year. He is much smoother, his jump landings have much more flow on the landings and there is a stillness about the upper body... I mean, the 4S of 2016 has no stress on the upper body at all... no muscling it through. I understand that the program styles are very different, but that's not what I am talking about. Even the 3L at the end is super relaxed looking. Anyway, he seems very different compared to last year with his jumps. Now if he can work on his other elements, and we know he will, then I think we'll see that score go up nicely. It's just time and practice... but not OVER practice. He's been doing so well to get this far on the limited training, so if he just continues on the upward trajectory that's all that matters.
And yes, the costume needs a bit of a change somehow. The colours are great, i like the sparkles even...but it's the structure of it, maybe the arms, that I am not fond of... more flow to his sleeves maybe? not so form fitted?
