Morozov needs to pick up that phone that keeps ringing. The Dead Sea would like its salt back, thank you very much.

Ok so Morozov has just done an interview bashing Yuzuru and Javi. In my opinion it sounds sour grape.
As a coach, a professional one, he should have known how to not bash other skaters/coaches. This man is true to his infamous reputation.

Lol considering he is Javi's ex coach, this sounds more like him being salty. Actually I can see a number of veteran coaches keep being salty over Brian's pupils in the upcoming future because they are currently dominating men in senior (Yuzu and Javi) and junior (Cha jun hwan, and maybe within 2-3 years, Gogolev). Too bad that currently Brian doesn't have dominating female ala Yuna or else the salt will just be stronger

P.S I am still laughing over the fact that he is Miki ando's ex boyfriend and Shae-Lynn ex-husband. And now one happily dating Javier and the other happily choreographing for Yuzuru.

I just went :rofl2: and scared off my cat

Ah, figure skating... as the blades turn... it all seems slightly incestuous... the chickens all come home to roost. :laugh2:

EV: Explain
NM: The way we perceive the skater depends on a lot of small details. Sometimes the costume looks bad, sometimes there are not enough small details, sometimes the arm is not lifted in the right moment, sometimes he is not fast enough, the music cut does not suit etc. Ten is a unique athlete. He thinks really deep, he understands figure skating so well and thinks of every small details and does not waste his time on other things. If Fernandez remained in a way an idiot, Ten already looks a skater with no faults, who understands exactly why he does this or that move. It's exactly what is missing now in the men skating. Even Hanyu lacks it.

EV: Yet you can't argue when Hanuy doesn't make mistakes he is unbeatable. What can you do to get him?
NM: Only the elements quality. By the way am not one of the army of his fans: when Hanuy falls his jumps he is a pain to watch, while Evan Lysachek one wanted to watch even when he made mistakes. It's like rally: you can beat `Mercedes' with a `Toyota' with a more powerful engine. Just that a Toyota will not become a Mercedes

Sometimes the coach's word is the reason why people don't like the skater too. I like Den Ten but because of something like this, I am starting to dislike him because maybe he has the same thinking as he is. Yuzuru don't think his perfect, Brian don't too but Nikolai Morozov think that Denis Ten is perfect? :noshake:. Picking on other Skaters to boost his student's morale are just low :disapp:

It's well known Nikolai doesn't have warm feelings towards JSF and now, when he's coaching Denis, interviews like this would appear regularly, I'm afraid.

Maybe he thinks the mere existence of Japanese men single skating is all thanks to him

- So there's no pressure to restrict your efforts?

Some people think I can't work with international skaters, but I have no problem with it. No one has told me I can't, but some people think [the Russian skating federation] did. After worlds, Florent said, 'I guess I can't [continue] with you.' I said, 'Of course you can.'

The only [exception] might be the Japanese Federation, but of course if [a Japanese skater] were to ask me, I would think about it. I say this because I've done so well for the Japanese, and they don't even say thank you. If it weren't for me, there would be no Daisuke Takahashi. [Morozov coached the 2010 world champion to the 2007 world silver medal.] Now [world silver medalist Takahiko] Kozuka is skating so well, because Takahashi, he pushed all the Japanese boys to skate to a new level. Miki won two [world] gold medals for Japan. They just don't understand this.

Didn't he and his daughter skate in MOI last year? I dont know much about him but I don't think it is good for him to throw shade at JSF and Yuzu... Especially him being Denis' coach and the whole fiasco during the worlds practice sessions.

There is a reason why his nickname is Morozombie.

Wasn't it almost two years ago, when Morozov had no other work in FS world? :scratch2: Now things has changed - he has two ice dance teams and Ten, WC&Oly medalist, he needs to promote them even by means of other skaters.

Usually I like his interviews 'cause it always gives subjective point of view and Nikolai himself is an interesting character. Surely he doesn't care about JSF reaction (would JSF read the interview in the first place?)

So just be ready for more interviews like that next 2 years and take it with a big grain of salt and popcorn.

Lol I seriously think it is a bit of bitter + sour+ salt mixed together because of how good Orser's kid and/or Japanese skaters are doing "without his help". Now international skater rarely work with Russian coach and choreographer and the successful ones are usually working with American/Canadian choreographer (Lori, DWilson, Shae Lynn, Buttle) or coach. Even in Russia, the one who is doing well and dominating is Eteri's kids. There are also relatively newer coaches whose student have better result than more known veteran coaches like Mishin or Morozov, like Rukavicin or Buyanova for example.

Amazing how he thinks he single-handedly bring the uprising of Japanese men's skating just because of Dai. It starts with takeshi honda, actually. Besides, takahashi's best year (aka olympic bronze and world champion title) was achieved when he was not under Morozov's wing, same as his 2012 silver medal. Japanese past successful skater usually were tied to the Russian (arakawa, mao, miki, takahashi, oda etc) but the current newer generation is not. Current roster of Japanese top skaters are mostly homegrown and trained locally (Shoma Uno, Miyahara, Asada, Hongo etc). Yuzuru's meteoric rise to legendary status has nothing to do with the Russian. Javier has poor result when he trained under him and as soon as he switched to Orser he made it to GPF and won a world medal + european title the next year. So yeah, salt is strong here. :coffee:

Did he just call Yuzuru a Toyota?

Why is Mercedez better than a toyota because it is a European Car? And Toyota is much more inferior because it is from Asia? Racist Nikolai!!! Given Yuzuru is Toyota what about Denis Ten? (I am not against D10, I'am just stating that D10 is Asian too) He is neither a Toyota or a Mercedez
