We've got the Germans too, if someone would be so kind
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQYjAFmc4Fw
I'm not sure who the commentators are. we'll call them Dude One and Dude Two.
(I think dude one is Sigi Heinrich and dude two is Hendrik Schamberger. No guarantee, though)
1: Now comes the star of this event, and that's none other than the Olympic champion of Sochi and World champion of Saitama, who then twice lost against his buddy Javier Fernandez at the World Championships, but still... Yuzuru Hanyu from Sendai. One of the most popular and most influential figure skaters of the past four or five years.
("influential" isn't quite the right word. It's more like "defining" as in he defines figure skating and the direction it takes... something like that)
2: We just saw him imitate an element that only he can do: the quad loop.
(before he takes his starting position)
1: Let's go crazy by Prince. Maybe not a bad motto considering this program.
(after the 4Lo)
1/2: Not bad
1: Amazing that he managed to land this
2: Well, that he didn't fall, because you can't really call this a good landing
(I'm paraphrasing because I don't know how to properly translate this. in German they literally say "to stand a jump" when they mean that it was properly landed). But whatever, it was landed backwards, and that was the quad loop that nobody else will risk.
1: With such a tilted position in the air – amazing.
(after the 3A)
1: This is simply amazing
2: Yes. He's aiming at a score in the 90s with this. Awesome 3A with preparation
(I suppose he means steps into it and all)
1: He's more aiming at a score in the 100s. I think.
(after he finished)
1:
(no idea how to directly translate the first part) Amazing skate/program
(something like that). Unbelievable. Yuzuru Hanyu. Yes, yes, that loop still bugs him a little, but otherwise... just now I see that Axel again in my mind's eye, like he didn't jump up from the ice but like he came from the air, from the sky, just, a huge jump. Unbelievably good.
2: Just the way he goes into that jump...
1: And the flow out of it.
2: ... and then the flow out of it, yes, that's really amazing how easily he can do this, that he chooses to do such a difficult entry and then can land it with such incredible security.
1: 4S-3T, that combination looked like it was the easiest thing to do. (technical elements) presented like they were child's play, within an incredible program – he is so good.
2: And he still gave some points away with the mistakes on the loop, but all in all that was an incredibly strong performance.
1: He and Fernandez, you really get the impression that they push men's figure skating forward.
2: Boyang Jin has surely contributed to this as well
1: And Patrick Chan.
2: Yeah he maybe not so much with the jumps (1: well yeah sure), but the Chinese has set new standards last year, and I think these two have followed suit. Ultimately, also Patrick Chan is more following suit rather than he has pushed anything forward; now the Canadian also has put a second quad in his program.
1: And then there's Shoma Uno,
(paraphrasing) who also shows what he can do. The four we have named are the ones who currently give figure skating this incredible esprit.
2. I think you're right, he's probably going into the 100s with this, because the mistake with the loop didn't cost him that much.
1: Tremendous program from Yuzuru Hanyu.
2: This is going to be extremely exciting at the finale when Frenandez, Chan and Hanyu will meet – unbelievable.
1: Shoma Uno also qualified. ... Getting over 100 points in a short program, for Yuzuru Hanyu that's not exactly cause to buy everyone drinks afterwards. That's more like a daily routine.
(show the replay of after the program and how he makes that sign with his fingers)... yes and he says "there was just a tiny bit missing", with the loop of course. By now all of the quads – except for the Axel, of course – all the quads have been done now. There's always somebody who can do one of them.
(scores are about to come up). Score will be about 104, maybe 103, I don't know.
2: Well, not bad. I'll enroll you as a judge for next year.
1: Thanks a lot. Well, 103.89, just in the middle. So he goes in the lead. By a small margin, right?
2: ehm... 13 points, no, more like 16 points.
1: 16 points! Incredible. Well, comparing this to Patrick Chan last week, he's the clear leader with this SP.
