Max Aaron

The compulsory dance was a pattern, though. No choreography required, it was the same pattern for everyone, just a lot of practice.

I woke up this morning all :disapp: because Monday morning and lack of sleep but this had me almost jumping out of my bed! Bullfighter Max! Oh, the idea is so perfect, I can hardly wait! AND SUDDENLY Z's caginess about the 4T going back in for Nationals MAKES SO MUCH SENSE OMG he must have known even then that this was the plan! I had been hoping and hoping that between CoC and Nationals they would make a new SP and they HAVE! AND IT LOOKS GREAT SO FAR

What will he wear? I think a splash of red this one for sure!

basically running around in circles shrieking with excitement right now. The Bullfighter and the Lion King!

The ice teams still had to spend the $$$$ for the third set of costumes, though.

---------------------------------------

Back to talking about Max - I'm thinking and hoping that a "Bullfighter" program will be a better fit for his skating, especially for a SP. I think something that is bold and brings out his persona that he has when he is completing his jumping passes will be an improvement.

Very excited about the bullfighting program, seems like a really good fit for Max. In general, it seems they are doing better this season on finding programs that stretch his artistic side while still bringing out the power in his skating. :agree:

And we thought Snuggle Lion was cool! Snuggle Bullfighter is even better! Hope it's a good vehicle for him for Nationals.

I can't wait to see what he'll wear, too. OMG, black and red, perhaps all black with a red sash with part of it loose at his hip for the cape-like effect (kinda like Brendan's POTC purple sash), or black with a red matador style jacket, giving the illusion of a high waistline, maybe he can even be persuaded to wear sparkles on this one, with some gold, that would go nicely! Perhaps some studs down the outsides of his legs, and for once the fitted pants might not be the go, perhaps some looseness around his calf and ankle would go better for this program...

So.....are we going to call him Snuggle Fighter now?

Hmmm ... maybe SnuggleMat?? ;)

(Short for matador.)

I am no expert, but in photos of bullfights, I am seeing a lot of tight pants that end below the knee + knee-high socks that are brightly colored -- often bright pink .

Well, we know our dear SnuggleLion/SnuggleMatador is not averse to bright pink ;)

I am not sure what the ruling on that would be, though, if they went authentic to that look. Costume violation, perhaps. Or perhaps not. Hmm.

Well, we know our dear SnuggleLion/SnuggleMatador is not averse to bright pink ;) ...

:hopelessness:
But you're right --- how could I forget?!?

Now I am voting for either SnuggleMat or SnugglaDor. :)

SnuggleDor had crossed my mind ... although I sorta liked it, I had kept it to myself, b/c it reminds me of Harry Potter's Prof. Dumbledore ;).
I am a fan of the Dumbledore character, but seemed like an odd association for bullfighting .
SnugglaDor is less similar, which is good :).

Sorry for getting so silly. My excuse is that I am giddy with excitement for the new SP :dance2:.

 "Stellar work" from Max at the overnight shoot of the indie feature film Ice, so seems my hunch was correct.
Two photos on set:

Don't know what Max's call time was, but at least for another cast member, the shoot was scheduled for 9 pm Sat to 2 am Sun. She was on Instagram again at 4 am; and the production crew was still working at 4:46 am ....

A November article about another shoot for the film:
(No mention of Max in the article.)

The central characters in the film are two female figure skaters. The young versions of these characters are played by Phoebe Stubblefield, age 7, who is a Tom Z skater (with a very bright future as a skater, per his most recent TSL interview); and Elise Freezer, juvenile girl who IRL just won Pacific Coast Sectionals (former TZ skater who now trains in Dallas and whose family sponsored the first year of the Aerial Figure Skating Challenge).
Annabelle Schneider-Farris is another cast member.

Apparently hockey also is interwoven into the plot to some extent, so I wonder whether Max's cameo bridges both worlds???

ETA, cross-posting news from the U.S men thread:

This just in:
Max Aaron will have a new "bullfighting" SP for 2017 Nats, per Tom Z's tweet (with 43 seconds of video attached).
Choreo by Phillip Mills. Music by Arturo Sandoval.

eta, TZ's Instagram has a different video of the new program:

So ... perhaps Max is getting a head start on his SP for the Olympic season??

Olé! Go, Max :yay: :dance2:.

So excited to watch this soon! Thanks for those links!

Oh you guys I can't help it, I'm so excited. Every time I watch the clips I notice something more. The sharpness of his opening. The little flick of the head at the stop near the camera. The clap of his hands near the end of the footwork. The authoritative stomp.

Tom's comments implied they only finished it this weekend and I can hardly believe it if so. Already it looks polished and sharp. But more, too, it already looks part of him; already his personality is shining through, though it cannot be more than a week old. And that is both wonderful and a little frightening. For if it can look this good now, at a week old, how will it look by Nationals, with nearly two full months on it?

*cackles*

I love that Wilson basically slapped Dave twice about it. First with the praise of the physical phrasing and movement that he'd never seen Max do before and secondly with the comment about it being good that Max is skating to what he wants to skate to. I admit I cringed when Wilson admitted he hadn't watched it yet, but it turned into a grin by the end. Dave looked so affronted, hahahahahaha.

Max is one of six skaters on the cover  of the Dec issue of Skating magazine, which is highlighting the Get Up campaign. (The others are Jason, Ashley, Madi Chock, Adam, and Gracie.)
A big photo of Max is on the Table of Contents page, which is page 3 of the magazine.
And another photo + a quote from Max are on page 25 of the magazine.

VB, thanks very much for the video ... and for cueing it up to the part about Max. :thank:

I could have kissed David Wilson for his positivity :luv17: :ghug:. #Awesome

Oh my GOD, ice coverage, you did NOT give me sufficient warning that his face was going to be that bloody cute!

Max is mentioned in today's IN article about Ben Agosto :

.... Agosto is based at the Broadmoor World Arena, where he is a secondary coach to numerous skaters.

"The caliber is so high here. I work with a lot of singles skaters," said Agosto, who assists Dalilah Sappenfield, Christy Krall and Tom Zakrajsek with some of their students, including Max Aaron. "A main focus is working on their edges, making sure their step sequences are as clean as possible. Mostly, I feel I want to try to bring out the performance for all these skaters." ....

"That's really rewarding and very exciting. I feel really lucky to be in this position."

And Max and the other Broadmoor skaters are lucky to have Ben's coaching for edges, step sequences, and performance :ghug: :yay:.

Oh my GOD, ice coverage, you did NOT give me sufficient warning that his face was going to be that bloody cute!

Max tweeted a reply of Thanks for his movie role .
And then the World Arena tweeted Congrats :) to Max.

So ... was TZ gently teasing Max on Instagram about the movie? Or about the big photo of Max in Skating magazine? Or both??
I don't mind TZ teasing Max -- just not sure whether I am "getting" the right joke .

In any case, I do like the photo in the mag.
And I really like the smiling one from the movie set.
(Side comment: Have been wondering whether Max's white V-neck T-shirt also is his official "costume" for his appearance in the film. If the producers wanted authenticity, then he/they nailed it ;).)

[Max must be wearing some kind of padding in the Instagram photo?? Protection in case of falls when training jumps??]
