Yuzuru Hanyu: 2016-17 Season

I'm not saying he faked his illness. I'm only saying he withdrew because JSF allowed him to withdraw. Lots of other skaters have similar sickness or injuries, but they don't have the option to withdraw and still make the worlds/olympics team. If withdrawing means no 4CC and worlds, he will compete regardless of his conditions. His condition now is not so bad to the extent he can't compete at all. (He had competed in much worse conditions before.) He would at least try to give him a chance to make the worlds team. I think popularity certainly plays a role. He is JSF's cash cow right now. A skater's popularity also depends a lot on his/her competitive record. The other skaters who are sick or injured will have to compete if they want to make the worlds team because they either don't have good competitive record or to a less extent not popular enough.

I am not sure what you are trying to put out here. Just because he had competed in a worse condition in the past and learnt the lesson(btw he has not fully disclosed his current physical condition yet so dont jump to the conclusion so fast) does not necessarily mean he has to go through all over again. He has done enough to earn him a spot even with the absence, period. So for other skaters (I dont know who exactly you guys are) you'd better pray for two things. First, your fed will make selection standards clearly saying that the selection process is not only based on results of nat but also based on other international competitions as well as the world ranking; and second, be damn good:agree:

bla bla bla.

Look, if you actually read my previous posts I already explained that Nats are mandatory but exceptions when there are unavoidable circumstances like sickness and injuries would allow you to go to worlds based on your performance this season.
Did he violate anything? No he did not. He was sick and he can't compete at Nats and he was cleared for it by JSF. Period. Whatever JSF reasoning for giving him permission don't bother me and let's be real, he earned it.

Now, the important thing. What the hell is wrong with you? This is his fan thread. Everyone is wishing him well, to recover soon and are genuinely worried about him, yet you are sprouting this lengthy paragraph about how you think he might skip nats (even faking illness???) just to avoid AWG. Did I even read a single get well soon, Yuzuru, from you? If you want to spread negativity, conspiracy theories and/or being disrespectful to him, go to the edge and make a thread, there will be a number of people who would like to join in with you there.

This will be my last reply. Bye.

So? I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. There are rules in place and they didn't just conjure up a special allowance for Yuzuru "super star" Hanyu. There are exceptions to the rules and JSF is using them to allow Yuzuru to go to Worlds and/or 4CC. That's what exceptions are for. And they are exceptions because they only apply for some and not all. I don't see why that's such a big deal.

my confessions......

1. ignore the poster and his/her BS, move to positive things on this thread and well wishes for Yuzu
2. ...+1, who needs haters when you have these kind of fans
3. we have blissful few weeks when the poster not posting here for a while after his/her previous BS
4. the moment i saw the poster name on thread...i already got phobia even without reading what being written
5. wish there a ban on certain poster on fan thread as only putting his/her on ignore does not help much

Okay I get what you were implying. Shall I help you move your trash to the edge? You might find more agreement there.
There is already a thread in the competition page where he/she and others can sprout their BSs there

Get well soon..yuzu!
not that shocking news.. even in Korea, these days there's a flu going around, so many news that famous people quit their schedules and rest. I think it is good that isn't serious injury. Following him, I've got into any situation..maybe anything can happen this world. just inevitable things.

Personally, to be honest, after OG I didn't think he have full season to 2018 each seasons. yes, many things have changed, but still seeing him at any competitons is happiness.

Sometimes, I think fs world is so cruel and cause some dramas, not this case though. esp, media is the worst thing.. but I think his choice is smart, poor performace with flu will hurt himself and fans more. and I can spend peaceful(not nervous) Xmas too.
Hope him rest well and happy holidays to this thread members, too!!

I agree with this.

Yuzuru could have withdrawn from National 2014 when he was badly injured after CoC and was hurt hellalot because of the stomach infection which he got surgery right after National!! He could have and he did not, JSF surely don't want Yuzuru to compete in such condition again, right?

Why would he repeatedly compete in bad condition just because he did so in the past?

When you're in bad health, you're supposed to rest. We should be happy he agreed to rest this time.

I understand flu, the whole body just suddenly loses power. Can athlete compete in such cases? Possibly but the performance would be very bad and it might harm his body even more. Skating while sick/injured might lead to worse sickness and injuries. JSF surely understand this issue. They're managing athletes after all.

And the cold air is harmful. I was on the ice for a whole week in about 3-8 hours per day last week because of the seminar, and my nose is blowing like hell. All the group are kind of sick because we stayed on and near the ice for too long. I can see why Yuzuru constantly needs Pooh tissue.

For some reason, I feel we are handling this WD from nationals worse than when he was 3 months off the ice :slink:
I will say tho, I'm kinda selfish, I wanted Yuzu to go for the 5 titles in a row, which hasnt been done since like Minoru Sano :)
I hope he gets better and shows everyone what they missed!

I agree with you. He skated through injuries the past 2 Nationals (first through a stomach pain that required surgery and the second through lisfranc injury) and we all know how it ended for him in the later part of the season. Repeating the same routine that doesn't end well for you is just not the thing to do; very glad he, his team and JSF decided that if similar situation occurs, something must be done differently.
I hope he will not rush himself back to training too before he recuperates fully. If his illness recurs, he will need to take additional rest-time and it will be less overall training time for him. All the travelling, competition, practices and cold weather must have affected his stamina and made him more prone to illness too.
Anyway, my brother has asthma and I can tell you, having flu is the worst thing that could possibly happen to him. It is not just the fever and the headache, but it is very difficult to just even breathe. Eat a lot and rest a lot, Yuzuru! Get well soon :)

If this was a simple cold, I'm afraid he forced himself to attend the Nats, even if he had a fever. But flu plus pharyngitis. No way. (IMO, one reason he decided to withdraw was that flu is very infectious. I just suppose he thought about others too.)

There is no Japanese skater who doesn't want the title of Japanese Champion. ESPECIALLY YUZURU. A man of great pride. He is the last person to give up.

I think some people who think flu is not such a big deal probably don't understand which flu we're talking about. When I lived in non 4 seasons Asian countries before, "flu" = common cold. It was not a big deal at all. U could do any activity with some inconveniences and that's it. But it's different in 4 seasons country. Flu here is the real flu, it's a virus/viral attack. U don't just have a light fever, sore throat and runny nose. U have terrible fatigue, fever, headaches, and some people even have stomachache. Ur joints are all aching and to go out of bed feels like running a marathon. I understand people think the timing is too good to be true. But, in December, to get flu is like the easiest thing ever. I had my final exam 2 days ago and all the students sitting in my row had tissue with them bc they got flu, just like me.

Accusing athlete to lie about his health condition is really rude. Especially with a reasoning like that. So what if he used to go all out even when he's injured before? Don't u remember what happened after he did that? He lost 2 world titles bc his decision to go through with the competitions unhealthily made his condition so much worse. There was a pro tennis player who withdrew from his final match because he had a fever. He was the favorite to win and yet he withdrew bc he couldn't play 100% with a fever and he didn't want to get more sick than he already was. None of the fans were mad bc it was an act of professionalism. Pro athletes know their own body condition best and they know they need to maintain it to get the best results possible.

I don't understand why some people think Yuzuru should skate with flu at all. Why should he skate with aching joints and fatigue body? Give me one logical reasoning why should he perform a 2 quads sp and a 4 quads fp with a headache, swollen throat, fever, and fatigue body o(`ω´ )o

If he says he's sick - I believe him! If anything, he has skated at times when he maybe shouldn't have -- after his terrible collision with Han Yan, when he needed surgery soon after Nationals. He conducts himself in a professional way, and I'm sure he is very disappointed to not be able to go for another title. I can't imagine jumping or (worse yet!) spinning when I have the flu! Get well soon!

People must understand it's not JSF's place to allow a skater to withdraw or not when it comes to INFECTIOUS DISEASE like flu. It's no politics. NO DOCTOR IN JAPAN WILL EVER ALLOW ANYBODY to leave the house and spread the germ in public during the period set in law. In case of COC he was medically cleared. In this case NOT. AND participation at the Nationals is mandatory but they added before Sochi the famous escape clause about considering the past accomplishment at the Worlds or the World Standing or the Season's best so he never ever had to worry about the Worlds (and the four continent too) and push himself for that reason. For him it was extremely important to win 5th consecutive national title and to skate in front of the beloved home crowd and meet colleagues who as senior student like him would retire next spring.

:points:

I don't know where people can think that flu, not a common cold, is not a serious illnes. In Europe, it's a very serious matter. In my country, every year, the Health System advise to get vaccinated against the flu. There are groups of risk (people over 65, people with cardiopathies or similar, diabetics, asthmatics, individuals with kidney diseases, pregnant women, health personnel, firefighters,...) whom the vaccine is free. The Health System spends millions of euros every year only on prevention. It's true that if you are a healthy person, flu will go only with high fever (38º-40º), headache, joint paint, aching muscles, tiredness and weakness, chills...And the Health System recommendations are painkillers, stay at home, avoid contact with other people where possible, keep warm and rest and so. If some complications appear, which is not strange, such us pneumonia or some respiratory problems, people will need other medicines or be hospitalized (sorry for the long explanation, I work in a Health Center and we're in the middle of the season of the flu ) So, I don't understand why some people think Yuzuru should skate with flu at all . Football is the main sport in my country, and every year some players can't play important events because of the flu. And nobody thinks they should play under those conditions :dev2:

The usual unsubstantiated nonsense
I do wish you would stop relentlessly posting nonsense from your fantasy world, as if it were actual fact, in real life. Not just here, but all over the forums.

It would be OK, if you said it was just your personal belief or opinion. But you don't. Nor do you provide any proof of your "theories", you ignore all challenges, refutation, counter-evidence etc and just carry on... and on... and on...

To retire from the competition, he was probably examined by the official federation medical commission. Be assured they have everything under control. They are fully aware of loss of revenue, etc etc.
Trust them 100%, YH can't compete.

That's why this poster is in my ignore list. And I'm not prone to do such things but well :dumb:
