I think some people who think flu is not such a big deal probably don't understand which flu we're talking about. When I lived in non 4 seasons Asian countries before, "flu" = common cold. It was not a big deal at all. U could do any activity with some inconveniences and that's it. But it's different in 4 seasons country. Flu here is the real flu, it's a virus/viral attack. U don't just have a light fever, sore throat and runny nose. U have terrible fatigue, fever, headaches, and some people even have stomachache. Ur joints are all aching and to go out of bed feels like running a marathon. I understand people think the timing is too good to be true. But, in December, to get flu is like the easiest thing ever. I had my final exam 2 days ago and all the students sitting in my row had tissue with them bc they got flu, just like me.
Accusing athlete to lie about his health condition is really rude. Especially with a reasoning like that. So what if he used to go all out even when he's injured before? Don't u remember what happened after he did that? He lost 2 world titles bc his decision to go through with the competitions unhealthily made his condition so much worse. There was a pro tennis player who withdrew from his final match because he had a fever. He was the favorite to win and yet he withdrew bc he couldn't play 100% with a fever and he didn't want to get more sick than he already was. None of the fans were mad bc it was an act of professionalism. Pro athletes know their own body condition best and they know they need to maintain it to get the best results possible.
I don't understand why some people think Yuzuru should skate with flu at all. Why should he skate with aching joints and fatigue body? Give me one logical reasoning why should he perform a 2 quads sp and a 4 quads fp with a headache, swollen throat, fever, and fatigue body o(`ω´ )o
I don't know where people can think that flu, not a common cold, is not a serious illnes. In Europe, it's a very serious matter. In my country, every year, the Health System advise to get vaccinated against the flu. There are groups of risk (people over 65, people with cardiopathies or similar, diabetics, asthmatics, individuals with kidney diseases, pregnant women, health personnel, firefighters,...) whom the vaccine is free. The Health System spends millions of euros every year only on prevention. It's true that if you are a healthy person, flu will go
only with high fever (38º-40º), headache, joint paint, aching muscles, tiredness and weakness, chills...And the Health System recommendations are painkillers, stay at home, avoid contact with other people where possible, keep warm and rest and so. If some complications appear, which is not strange, such us pneumonia or some respiratory problems, people will need other medicines or be hospitalized (sorry for the long explanation, I work in a Health Center and we're in the middle of the season of the flu

) So, I don't understand why some people think Yuzuru should skate with flu at all

. Football is the main sport in my country, and every year some players can't play important events because of the flu. And nobody thinks they should play under those conditions :dev2:
