Ladies Olympic Predictions

Olympic is political games, they won't let 3 Russian girls on the podium unless the rest bomb. They will not even like to see 2 Russian girls on the podium.

My guess is that they will try to have one Russian, one Japanese, one US/Canadian on the podium.

It makes me think when I read somebody else's comment earlier that Korea could plot revenge after the Sochi dilemmma, the Russians maybe the best on the night but will give gold to someone else? I'd hate to see that happen!

^I do think the Asian skaters, especially the japanese skaters will have a slight advantage, of course it is not Home Ice ála Sochi, but I would bet it won't be the russian domination that now seems very likely.

Just imagine if Russia is banned from the Olympics. It would be very unfair for the young ladies, especially Evgenia who is undoubtly on top of the skating World right now, but it would make such an interesting competition. I have no idea who would win this thing without Russia involved.

Lol you think South Korea will play politics and give Japan the advantage?

No? Where in the world did I write that? I wrote it is NOT Home Ice. But contrary to what is believed not everyone of South Korea, especially the younger people, hate Japan, if that is what you're insisting. They have no top level skater at the moment. And the judges, from all over the world, are not all sitting in an arena full of people shouting for their home countries victory. But you can bet there will be a lot japanese fans there.

"I do think the Asian skaters, especially the japanese skaters will have a slight advantage" the only way that will happen is if SK politicks.

And judging by the sold out venues in Russia, you can bet there will be a stadium full of Russian fans as well. And contrary to what you might believe, there is still a lot of bad blood between the two countries regardless of how intertwined the two are in the entertainment world. There have been many occasions just this year alone where Korean stars are banished simply because they posted a picture of Japan's rising sun flag, with no I'll intentions at all. Recent political disputes has only raised tension between the two.

That said, I don't think SK will do anything. It'll be even playing grounds for everyone.

I was talking about a slight advantage for Asian skaters. It wasn't about South Korean officials lobbying for Japan, which I am very aware won't happen. There is such a thing as audience reaction, which can play in favour. In the end it is about the judges. And they are in Asia - thus slight advantage Asian skaters. It might not make a difference, and I could be proven wrong. But I stand by my prediction that there won't be three Russians on that podium. Not in Asia.

I have no idea what the entertainment world has to do with my beliefs. :scratch2: I'm old enough to have a worldview that is not simply influenced by the media I consume, and the entertainment world has nothing to do with that statement of mine.

Tech Panel at this event will decide the winner. So, watch out for the announcement to make your predictions.
