Javier Fernandez

Great to see that the arena looks entirely full! That's really good news for Javi and for skating in Spain. And Super Javi showed up, LOL!! Hope they can continue to do it and it keeps growing.

After the disaster that was France, I would like to see that GP relocate to Spain (hey, China took it from Germany so it can happen). With the looks of things like the turnout at this show, I think they could get decent attendance. And I'm sure Javi would love to compete at home on a regular GP circuit.

Whoa!I'm amaze by the public response:eeking: 10000 people is a big number of attendance here in Spain. I'm really happy for Javi, he deserves this recognition at home, and I hope they can do the show in other cities too. And seeing the crowd being so supportive and with the example of GPF Barcelona, maybe the ISU could host a GP here,Idk taking turns with France for example...it's clear that figure skating attrack people in this country.
And again thx Javi for bringing this show!

Yeah, it's nice he's getting recognition at home... from fans, the King/Queen... this kind of event will only help, as did the GPFs, as will a podium result at the Olympics. Sometimes people don't even know they have a world champ or world contender in a less traditional sport in their own country.... and sometimes they don't care either. But, judging by the response here, people are really starting to care and show support for him and this sport. And he's not just a good skater, but a charismatic one with genuine likeability, a great sport ambassador. It will take time to see if that will result in future skating stars... but I hope so.

I saw some complaints about problems in getting everyone to their seats in time (huge lines to only one entrance), but otherwise the reports are very positive.

Managed to catch most of today's broadcast (missed the beginning), but it looked ok even on tv. I'm not a great lover of skating shows and admit that I did get bored even with this one ;) Most of the performances I had seen before (some multiple times, some even live), so the novelty value came from the routines made to live music. Which were mostly disappointingly unoriginal - set to powerballads as per usual; the one by Shawn Sawyer to Huecco I missed as it was at the start. However, it was neat seeing Javi and Miki do part of the Diana Navarro song together. Javi was ok, but not perhaps particularly glorious in either of his solos (the end of Guys and Dolls and Aerobics Class).

But I did like the music for most part, more interesting artists than what there were in compared to e.g. Art on Ice or Fantasy on Ice (which was just horrible mostly) this year.

There were enormous numbers of videos and photos uploaded in social media - I have about 120 now and I only kept the ones with Javi.

In order of appearance complete versions of his appearances (from the live stream mostly):
Introduction https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVmyByoGLXs (worth watching if not for anything else, then the look for the camera before he hits ice around 30 s)
Luck Be a Lady and the little welcome talk afterwards: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iexCG3Vc36Q
Diana Navarro "Eres tu" with Miki: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VtIv3n20spc and another viewpoint https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rpe_nrjTuEU (fancams only available)
The show ended with Aerobics Class: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vz3f4SDl50c
Finale: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5a0918zmXqE

The La Liga summary is probably the best as it features the Javi interviews ;) But does not include this one: https://twitter.com/LaLiga4Sports/status/814589211420618752

The show can still be seen tomorrow on Gol in the evening at 9 pm CET (it was easy enough to find a free live stream).

And as a wish for a very good 2017 this little gem by Misha Ge: https://www.instagram.com/p/BOnnqqIBGj-/?taken-by=mishage8 (a hat trick would be very nice indeed).

I saw the show on TV today too. I liked it but, the first half an hour was cold… As Eppen said, the problems at the entrance made the arena pretty empty at the beginning.
About Javi, it was moving watching him skate to Frank Sinatra in Spain but I agree with Eppen, not especially glorious. I had to wait until the finale, with Henry Mendez singing to the sun on the beach and the whole crowd dancing, for seeing a relaxed smile on his face. I’ve been watching Javi on the media a lot lately and I think it was the first real smile I’ve seen in the whole season.

For me, the best of the show was the match between the live music and the skaters chosen for each one of the songs. Yes, they were ballads but the lyrics in Spanish were spot on, at least with their skating style and their public image. I’m not gonna try to make a quality translation but this is what the Spanish songs were saying:

Megan and Eric skating to “You can do with me whatever you want…”
Madison and Zach to “How am I going to wake up in the mornings without you…”
Miki and Javi to “After all the bad relationships I had, I found you and I know you are the one…”
Sawyer to “Werewolf”. I know nothing about him but I’m sure there is a reason for this match!

Good sense of humor… I guess it was David Wilson’s merit

Misha was cool as always and the second number of Kiira was really cool too!! Medvedeva was wonderful and it was nice to see Anna and Luca.
The finale was great!! Not really for the skating but because of the warming response of the crowd, everybody was dancing with Henry Mendez! At that moment was when Javi looked really relaxed and happy, you can watch it in YouTube.

I almost forgot, I loved to see Adrian Diaz as one of the chorus boys! Very generous of him, because for me, he is a star too!!

This is the first ice show I see on TV, so I have nothing to compare with. I found it really moving, Javi finally skated for his fans in Spain and there were thousands of them. I know, he has messed up the first part of the season because of this show, but I do understand why, he made his wish for Christmas to the Spanish version of Santa (The three wise men): more ice rinks in Spain. There won’t be more offer (rinks) without demand (skaters), so he is creating new demand, that was the goal of the show.
Well done Javi, well done!! And now, please, go back to training!!!

BTW, this is my first post here. I’ve been reading your posts for a while and I love it, you are always full of information!
Happy New Year!! :hb:

I'm so glad to hear ROI was a success, Brian said Javi was really very worried about that. He should be on his way back to Toronto already, and I'm sure this has motivated him to work very hard towards Euros and Worlds

From everything I have seen and read on the Forum, it sounds like the show was very successful and something that Javi can really be proud of. I'm happy he can now concentrate on his skating again. I'm sure the heavy responsibility of a show like this has been on his mind constantly.

With the show a success you know he is probably very pleased and relieved. That success should energize him and now his mind should be clear heading towards the major part of the season. I think we will see a refocused Javi going forward.

With thanks to sabinfire for uploading videos :
