I actually think Gabby's Rhapsody in Blue is awesome and I normally intensely dislike Rhapsody in Blue... she really hits the highlights of the music in such beautiful ways I find myself super draw into the program.

topic: ALERT!!!!! While waiting in sheer anticipation for Nationals to begin. I went looking to watch the Mercer Report from Skate Canada but, I found this one instead. Rick go's Zip Lining with Jann Arden and Kyle Shewfelt. It's Hilarious..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-VD6JBXbPwas Snow White noticed.... it's both Gabby's and Joannie's birthday today !!!!

Another great article on osmond
I forgot to mention this before but Winterfest is happening this weekend at The Hershey Centre. I didn't see a thread in the synchro part of the forum so I'm just putting this here. Synchro teams from Michigan, Vancouver, Manitoba, Quebec, and Ontario are competing. Apparently this event is also hosting trials for the Junior Synchro Worlds that will be held in Mississauga later this year.
Skate Ontario is posting beautiful photos on Facebook. You can find the results here. The link to the results page will only work until the end of the season so if you want to please download any protocols/results etc.

My team rarely goes for various reasons relating to how it's right after Christmas break, when practices are always sparsely attended. Meanwhile all these other teams manage to pull it off, so we clearly aren't trying hard enough. It also conflicts with the WOS Dover competition in Grimsby, they are always on the same weekend, which puts adult synchro skaters who are singles coaches in a bind.
Rosie Dimanno strikes again, this time with a god awful article about WeaPo.

Apparently V/M are the 2004 Olympic champions? I didn't realize they competed in the summer in Athens. Ugh. For someone who claims to know figure skating, her article sugggests otherwise.![]()

The how-to of re-orienting a figure skating career: From Hackensack to Novogorsk.
That’s almost 4,700 miles.
Spinning the compass was deemed essential by reigning Canadian ice dance champions Kaitlyn Weaver and Andrew Poje following a season of regression and disappointment, further impinged by the return to competition of compatriots Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, merely the ne plus ultra of their sport.
Not that the two-time and defending national titleholders will admit to being crowded by the 2004 Olympic gold medallists.
“Regardless of the comeback, we knew that we needed a new spark to our skating,” says Weaver, choosing her words carefully. “They only fueled the fire. Their comeback, it’s neither here nor there, it doesn’t involve us. But I would be lying if I said I haven’t worked harder because of it.”
Whether they’re competitively abreast with their rivals — friendly rivals — will be revealed at the Canadian figure skating championships in Ottawa next weekend. Virtue and Scott will be looking to reclaim the laurels they’ve won six times.
With that challenge doubtless in mind, off to New Jersey Weaver and Poje went last summer, re-locating from their Detroit training base, with extended camps at the multi-sport national training academy in Novogorsk, under new coach Nikolai Morozov. “It’s kind of like the Mississauga of Moscow,” explains Weaver of the elite suburban facility.
-shortened-
“We go to dance class all the time, whether it be a style that we’re doing on the ice currently or something way out there, like house or reggae,” says Poje.
Weaver: “Stepping into the studios there is so energizing. It’s an immersion technique. We might be totally out of our comfort zone, which most likely we are. But we’re growing our knowledge base, we’re becoming more of a rounded team. And it’s so inspiring to be around people who are striving to make it every day. That’s the great thing about New York. People want to make something of themselves, so the level of commitment and intent is incredible.”
Ice dancing doesn’t stand still. It has evolved. Virtue and Moir have certainly pushed that envelope. These nationals will mark the first time the two couples have gone head-to-head-to-head-to-head.
“I’m not really concerned about how our results will be against them,” Weaver claims. “We’re still Kaitlyn and Andrew. People appreciate what we do, thankfully . . .
“They have no bearing on that and will not be able to take that away from us. That’s been an incredible gift that we’ve been given – something special, something memorable and a very beautiful career that we’ve shared together.”
Somehow, that sounds almost like an epitaph.
