2016-2017 State of Canadian Figure Skating

Now publicly confirmed....Alaine Chartrand has returned to last year's short program, Pina, for nationals....

Alaine has retweeted a tweet from Beverley Smith, sports writer with the Globe and Mail, which is as much of a confirmation as could be asked for....

Loved Pina, and hope that it brings Alaine a good nationals experience. No news on whether she's going back to her old costume or keeping the great fringe dress from Charlene....In my view, the deep blue fringe would be fantastic with Pina.

I was just posting this too! haha

Duhamel and bradford also got rid of the throw 3A in the short its now a throw lutz. They are also doing side by side 3lz+2t and 3S in the long

OMG

i mean the 3a was expected... but 3lz-2t and 3s? i have never seen them do an edge jump before... wow... but clearly, the 3t-2t-2t was not working out this season...

Must have missed it earlier, but PJ Kwong has done a feature podcast on Kevin Reynolds.

Looks like we have to subscribe to get her "Open Kwong Dore" podcasts, but the promo says she provides a compilation of video as well.

editing to add...perhaps this is a way for PJ to get around some of the geoblocking issues with CBC

Thank you Alaine! She and Gabby are great listeners, as per a few recommendations on here ;) I love this program and the energy she brings to Pina.

Loved loved loved her pina program!! Awesome news!

Meagan and Eric making big changes. Wow. Though I hope this all works out. If they do all this and it still doesn't work I would bring in the sports psychologists.

Alaine posted this 5 minutes ago: https://www.instagram.com/p/BPGTNv0jsOg/
Thanks for listening to us girl.

Big YES for going back to Pina! And I'm curious about 3Lz-2t by D/R. SBS 3Lz was looking less stable this season, but maybe it's under control already. I wonder if S/B will keep going for SBS 3Lo....

I wish we had seen Alaines new short program clean, though.
Her pina is great but i found this years short exciting as well. I guess she wasn't into it as much

I suspect the lutz was unstable partly because they were so worried about the throw axel that came next.
And I think S/B ditched the loop at GPF?

I hope D/R get things together, they seem to realize that skating cleanly is more important than trying to do the most difficult elements possible. If I were them I would work more on lines and edges than reworking their programs.

Not sure what you are trying to say re "have to" subscribe to "get" Pj's podcasts. Maybe you are talking about downloading.

In any case, will mention that I (in the U.S.) am able to listen to Pj's podcasts right on the website -- such as the page that you provided (thank you :)) for Kevin's episode. I have not subscribed to anything.

Good luck to everyone at Nationals :yay:.

waaaa
him and Nadeau... with 4lz... our kids are ambitious ;) i like that

This is kinda late but I found this playlist for Richmond Training Centre's Christmas show. Bennet, Nam, and Michelle Long performed, among others. Nam skated to La Vie en Rose.

Shoma Uno's training at YRSA these days. Here he is with novice lady Lilika Zheng: http://ameblo.jp/mkp2012/image-12237015215-13842922749.html

Lilika's petit ami Conrad attempted a quad Lutz recently: https://www.instagram.com/p/BOzvHbdgOlg/

I see this: https://youtu.be/J0TunThK0Gk

And think, while Skate Canada is trying to figure out finances other federations are getting skaters ready for the future. When's the last time a Canadian novice ice dance team competed internationally?

Big congrats to this young Japanese team for winning.
