Nevertheless, the 2016 World bronze medalists are determined to go to the 2017 ISU European Figure Skating Championships that will take place the last week of January in Ostrava, Czech Republic. They are considering scaling down the degree of difficulty of their programs which usually include a throw triple Axel and throw quad Salchow, however.
“We just started doing throws,” Savchenko pointed out. “We will see how it goes and then we’ll make a decision. There is always a risk of injury, but you have this with everything.”
“We plan to come to Ostrava,” Massot confirmed, while stressing that they were only simplifying the throw jumps. “Aliona is getting better and our motivation is that we want to be there despite the injury. We’ll make the programs easier for sure in order to preserve Aliona’s ankle, and most of all, not make things worse.”
Aww... I hope they will take it easy at European! Good luck to them!Oberstdorf Gala

- I think it's definitely one of the best in the world - I don't think the +2.10 GOE they got was enough!Aliona and Bruno are magic together, dare I say as much or more than Aliona and Robin? I thought she was crazy to continue, but clearly she knew better! She'll be a legend no matter what, but there is no pairs skater more deserving of Olympic gold—fingers crossed for next year.
Aliona and Bruno have a different dynamic than Aliona and Robin--Robin has more elegance in his skating and is probably a better skater, but Bruno is much more powerful, which probably does a better job to showcase Aliona. Spectacular...
I kind of agree but I would put the blame on Ingo Steuer, I always had the feeling that Aliona and Robin had to fulfill his artistic vision/expectations. It was great visions sometimes, I just don't think that Aliona and Robin had much to say really. I also think that their relationship was a bit strained because of that. They probably could have been more with a different team.Everyone tells me that I'm crazy to say this, but I do think that Aliona & Bruno are better than Aliona & Robin. Aliona & Robin were perfect and super elegant and everything you wanted, but from my perspective, they lacked honesty, proximity, to be human... you could fall in love with their skating, you could cry with them (I did!) but they were kind of too good to be real. It was too distant, too perfect, for me.
Aliona & Bruno, on the other hand, can relate to us, to humans. They tell you something and it reaches you, it's real, human, you can feel it. They are honest, you can see a fantastic relationship between them, they are warm, and just lovely. And, from my point of view, if you add this to the excellence of Queen Aliona and Bruno's superpowers... you have the best of the best.
I'm just so in love with them :luv17: And I won't stop saying it: for me, this pair, is better than the previous one :clapper:
