2016-2017 State of Canadian Figure Skating

Found it...

Out of the skaters thus far in practice before the top six, for me, so far Emy Decelles was the most impressive, followed by Michelle Long, but only because of Michelle's natural ability on the ice, as she did not attempt many big jumps.

Also, it was so great to have those school childs out there for the practices...they were loud and lively!

Top Flight

All executed safe but very well...Alaine had a problem with her music as they played a full version of Sway before Pina. Best to work out the kinks now, as they say. Then she slayed it with PINA!!! The best I have seen her to date. This is going to be very exciting!

Hello, is anybody out there?

Thank you for sharing that report :)

Posting here as well. Ted Barton took a quiet moment during the Junior Men's event to promote livestream coverage of the senior practices tomorrow.

It sounds like there will be practices at both the TD Place venue and a local community rink, but all the seniors will have time at TD Place over the upcoming days. It will be the TD Place ones that are live streamed.

Ladies 9:00 am

Dance 11:30 am

Pairs 5:55 pm

Men's TD Place practice will be Friday...

Any link for that stream / streams?

Aurora Cotop of Central Ontario has the Junior Women's title. SP 59.55, FS 103.56, Total 163.11

She is lovely, has artistry and tech. And she's only 14, and moved up to juniors this year after taking the novice title last year. 4everchan and I are enraptured...:luv17: Watch this!

While much of the event was a splatfest, with Ted discussing the "negative atmosphere' during the final warm-up, the last three skaters took the podium with grit and grace. Especially, Aurora and Emily Bausback who had a collision at the end of the warm-up.

Senior practices will be livestreamed on Skate Canada's DailyMotion main page again tomorrow. https://www.dailymotion.com/skatecanada

Or access them through the livestream tab on the event main page...https://skatecanada.ca/events/2017-canadian-tire-national-skating-championships/

[Apologies for not including these in my posting last evening.]

Here's the event schedule. https://skatecanada.ca/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/2017-Cnds-Public-Schedule-01-10.pdf

Practices at TD Place start early....

Senior Dance SP 7:30 am EST

Senior Men's SP 8:45 am

Today's practices: videos have been uploaded to Skate Canada's Youtube channel, but have the links below. Higher numbered groups are higher seeded skaters. Some portions of the audio have been blocked where rights have been asserted.

Senior women 2 groups --- SME has asserted copyright and blocked the entire group 3 video -- not just the tracks with their content!:noshake:

What a lovely skate by Aurora! She seems very well-rounded. That skate would hold up well in the senior women's event (after the top three, of course).

when is Canadian nationals for men and ladies?

Here's the event schedule again https://skatecanada.ca/wp-content/up...dule-01-10.pdf

You will see that some of the lower ranked flights are not listed for TV broadcast. You should be able to get those at the same SC livestream page as all of the rest of the "wall to wall" coverage by hitting the livestream tab on this page....https://skatecanada.ca/events/2017-canadian-tire-national-skating-championships/

Portions of the event that will be broadcast on TV will are shown in red blocks on the event schedule.

The highest interest flights will be on CTV and portions of others will be broadcast on CTV's sports affiliate TSN in Canada, but I understand TV will be geoblocked outside Canada [and TSN is a cable network]. If you have these networks, you can use the id and pw from your satellite or cable account to log into livestreaming on the sites for these networks if you prefer that.

If anyone has information on US access [Ice Network??] or other international availability please post. In past years, SC's livestream shut down when the TV broadcast started up, I'm not clear whether that is the contractual arrangement this year with CTV/TSN. In an ideal world, SC livestream would be available everywhere outside the blackout area where there is TV coverage,

Been looking at yesterday's practices. [...except the top senior women, :dev2: to SME for blocking the whole thing...when surely they only have rights on one or two programs].

I find that I'm becoming more and more of a Nic Nadeau fan.

He has such charisma and presence even when doing a run through without jumps. The George Clooney / Cary Grant insoucience and charm are hard to resist... And the sheer impact of having a guy that tall with a large frame skating at this level.

Really regret that we don't expect to see him in full form yet. I didn't see him pushing the jumps in the early part of the warm up, although that could have been because he had the first run through.

With all our tall young men [Nic, Nam, Roman and more in juniors], I sincerely hope that Skate Canada, coaches and sports scientists can come up with a better way to train these high level men through their peak growth periods so they can develop with out risking serious injury.

I have long felt that Nic Nadeau is on a cusp of being one of the stars of the sport. Just wait until he gets to be a little more familiar in terms of a name/face in Canada and in Asia.

I hope that if he stays injury free and gets his quads under control, he can skate the team event with Patrick. He has so much potential. He just needs some time to build reputation (unfortunately with this judging system).
