I have never seen anything of Yuna in Yuzu's skating. I see yuzu as totally unique. A spread eagle into a 3A was a thing Ilia Kulik did back in the 90s, and others did them into 2As before that, so I do not associate that with her. I have watched skating for decades so maybe I have just seen so many moves done over the years. But, people see different things all the time.

Lol same here. People should not expect too much from her. There are also stones left unturned with her and Orser. If anything, I expect her and Yuzu to be awkward rather than anything. Regardless, as long as he is on the top of the podium, I couldn't care less about who will hand out the medal (just make sure it is not ugly plastic like in GPF, korea!)
Aren't the 4 CC and Euros medals like the ones at Worlds? Like, formal ISU championship medals, independent of the hosting Feds? I'm curious about it since I think they are very similar.

Oh I guess she does ina bauer into a spread eagle into the axel. Sometimes she holds the eagle longer. You can't go directly from Ina bauer into the axel

Yuzuru did say that his Idol was Yuna. When he was 15 he was interviewed on TV and asked about his skating idols. He mentioned Yuna and Weir there. He said he loved how she integrated jumps into her programs and the flow of her programs. David Wilson also admitted that Yuzuru told him his Idol was Yuna and he wanted to skate like her. Wilson assumed he liked her attitude and confidence when performing on the ice, totally like of a champion. So it's safe to say she's also his Idol.
Besides all the mentioned skaters he also has admired Shizuka Arakawa since junior days. He said in one interview that he does Bauer because of her Bauer.
Plushenko seems forever a king for him. I'm happy he's supporting him. Weir and Plushenko get along so well together, it's cute.

Yep, I am referring to that interview + Dwilson interview, which were the times I remember he even ever mentioned her. He mentioned things like that about many other skaters too though, on different occasions like when he was asked about Takahashi or Mao or like you said, Arakawa for example. He admires them but when asked about actual skating idol, his answer is always Plushy (also Weir). Though I am sure he admires Yuna, I never get the impression that Yuna was his idol in the same sense/level of how Plushenko (or Weir) is.

That's the thing about Yuzu though - he pays attention to all the different strengths of everyone. I get the same sense as @mcq, that she is someone he admires for sure, but idol since childhood = Pluschenko and Weir.

Guys, I have devestating news. I have to give my eight year old daughter up for adoption. I know it seems extremely harsh, but her Canadian citizenship is going to be taken away, and when I explain why, you'll understand: after Patrick Chan's score was announced, she turned to me and said: "Mommy, when is that guy who gets the thousands of Pooh stuffies thrown on the ice going to skate? Is he up next? He's really good! What part of Canada is he from?!"

I remember that interview in particular, it is from this video. It was the time around GPF 2009. He did not say she was his idol per se though, he was asked about his fave female skater and he answered Mao Asada and Kim Yuna and he explained why they are his favorites. He admires and respect them, but just like I never get the impression that Mao is his idol, I feel the same when it comes to Yuna. It is not like the same sense/level of how he idolize Plushy (or weir), in my opinion.

yeah, I also think his real idol is only weir. Regardless of competitive complishment, Johney's artistry inspired him most when he's young.
and I know his mom was also Johney's fan so maybe influenced to yuzu, too. And I think it is precious to see. even that costumes
And eveytime I hear whose idol is yuzu , feel so happy. but don't expect that all time.
Plushenko is just ideal hero or forever king for yuzu.
I don't think any female skater inspired yuzu that much. I imagine Med and Miyahara are also his favorite skaters when who ask him thesedays.
Anyway, just saw USnats and some mixed feeling. Chen really maxed up BV and I feel fearful and relieved at the sametimes. Fear is about maybe yuzu's WR will be broken in close future. and relieved feeling is that it happened now .And yuzu predicted this himself so keeps evolving.
I still have become acclimated to 4lz 4f 4lo things..
As time goes on, saw many vetrans struggling and young skaters up, I realized this is how to keep forward sports. Anyway miss him much

He wants that 4Lz in his arsenal for a good reason. Chances are high that he's going to need it come next season. Last night was an excellent demonstration of a great technical program awarded with a few extra candies and where it leads. Of course, it's Nationals but with some consistency and USFSA pushing with all their might, it'll happen in an international setting too. With Chen potentially going for five in the free, it is what it is. JSF better take a good look at who is their top man and not twiddle their thumbs. Politicking always matters in this sport. We'll just have to cross our fingers.

This year he will not need that quad lutz but next year there is a possibility he might well need it,if Chen becomes consistent their PCS gap will be just several pts. Yuzuru has one of the best analytical minds I have ever known, some considered putting lo madness, useless and here he might need lutz too, so that's why he is having lz ready.In case....

They certainly want to push two No.1
because they're like "we need next star".

I'm sure his 4lz will be thing of beauty. but I doubt he'll get stable 4lz next season.. Acquiring new quad when you're not young anymore is very difficult. I think there are huge gap between starting senior competiton with 4lz,4f and uping tech each season.
I think he will not add 4lz unless the jump is more stable than 4lo or 4s next season. maybe after 18 for his own goals.
And about Fed matters, in men's field, tech is very connected with pcs, so I don't care much.

So you think Yuzuru is getting bad scores and federation doesn't support him? Or do you think Shoma should be robbed of any support because of Yuzuru? It'd be unfair. But what's more surprising is that you guys think Yuzuru is doomed without heavy, increased support from his federation. Seriously, this guy is so mighty and is capable of achieving everything he wants, some more components with his Fed's additional help will not do him any good. You underestimate him. He is supported enough and most is under his/his team's control. Most judges love him.
I'm happy that such a strong and decent rival for Yuzuru has emerged. I'm happy he can find a motivation to strive higher and beat him. I'm happy he can learn from Nathan. Figure skating is very exciting these years with new talents coming up. There's no king, there are many heros. Nathan, Shoma, Boyang etc. I'm not really worried about skating without big starts like Patrick and Javi as long as all they stay healthy.

if you understand the power rankings of big federations, you wouldn't say that. :roll5: my only understanding is that Yuzuru should add 4lz this or next season. And many people know he is practicing 4lz seriously.
