Yuzuru is the one who decides about his own fate. A 2+4, with four different quads, with his overall quality and complexity when it comes to those programs, skated cleanly and he's unreachable. That he has to skate clean is not really news, and I am sure he wants it too, especially after Sochi.
As for others it is not Nathan and Boyang who are potentially biggest threats next season; it is Nathan and Shoma. Shoma already has pretty high PCS, and is more than likely going for a 4 quad FS at 4CC in a few days with the new 4Lo. Nathan has another season or so to boost his PCS, and since we know how that goes, first he has to do well at Worlds primarily. Javier and Patrick seem to have capped at 2+3 and are going for the clean five, risk that it will more than likely be. But I don't think Patrick has a choice, while Javier seems to have decided this. Anyway, depending how it goes, it is very probable that even their clean 5 might be enough for a medal, considering their experience and overall quality.
In any case, it's still all on Yuzuru and I trust him to know what's the right take on it. Much like he was right about the 4Lo, if he includes the 4Lz next season, then there's a good reason for that. I really want us to get through this season first though, with hopefully clean LGC and H&G, in one competition.
