I'm slightly concerned that Lena fell on both her salchows in her EX :ohwell: , but as long as she can get it together for the competition, I guess that's ok...

Lena and Masha Stavistkaya posted some photos at the airport, so I guess they're on their way back to Moscow now.
I was kinda surprised that they are so close (I thought Lena would've hung out more with Liza), but they did hang out at Nationals too now that I think about it, so I guess they must get along quite well. :agree:

Ok, I've got lots of things to share today!

1) First things first, it seems that Lena is NOT going to the Cup of Russia final next week, which presumably would have been her last chance to prove she is more Worlds-ready than Maria Sotskova. So I guess she's not going to Worlds. That's not really a big surprise...

Whoops, it seems that I've missed the conflicting scheduling since I knew that she will be on that show but still waited till today to see her on the CRF roster. :hslap:

What's most disappointing is that ALL of the other active skaters at that show will go to worlds (if the show lineup is correct).

Elena's competitive season is over... What's she gonna do? Go to Cup of Tyrol??? Sure... :giveup:

Don't you just hate the Vodorezova (Buynova) blat (power obuse). She isn't even a good coach. She got insanely lucky that her best coaching produce involved a skater spending most of her career saving a dying sister, being heartbroken in not making the team event, and being awarded with the ultimate redemption in the individual event.

It's sad... Radionova isn't the best figure skater of the field, but she has charisma.

Charisma (along with mathematical analysis) is a type of real-life magic. Hitler had it, Stalin had it, Freddie Mercury had it. Many of the people that watch Radionova perform dont give two cares about her posture, jump landings, what not. They just have another gray day, yet, when they watch her birght, exuberant, performances, it makes their days brighter!

I may be wrong in my observation, but in terms of raw charisma and likability, no female figurer skate beats Radionova. Not even Ilinykh.

LOL, I wouldn't really compare Lena to Stalin and Hitler :eek: but I do agree that she has an exceptional level of charisma. :yes:
I'm usually EXTREMELY picky about posture/graceful lines, etc, because I'm a ballet snob, but Lena is just SO charming that even I can overlook her numerous posture/arm issues. :agree:

Unfortunately, I feel like a lot of her recent competitive programs have not taken advantage of her amazing sunshine charisma. I didn't really love the music, but her SP was definitely a step in the right direction, with the very playful step sequence. I really hope that Shae-Lynn Bourne does at least one of Lena's programs for next season. :yes:

And I also think that perhaps someone other than Inna Goncharenko should pick the music. Inna was the one who suggested Titanic and Turandot, which turned out so-so. (She did also suggest J-Lo, and although a lot of people thought that SP was trashy, I absolutely loved it!!) TAT apparently gave Lena the Porgy & Bess music for her SP this season. Maybe she'll have another brilliant suggestion. Or perhaps Shae-Lynn can suggest something good. Lena also was at the Music on Ice show with Stephane Lambiel last month; maybe he could choreograph for her...?

As for Buyanova (Voddorezova)--it occurs to me that if she still REALLY wants to steal Lena from Inna, then the best way for her to do it would be for her to guarantee Lena a spot on next year's Olympics team (or maybe even this year's Worlds team). It seems like she might have the clout to do this. If so, that would be a really tough decision for Lena--she would have to weigh her loyalty toward Inna versus how much she wants to go to the Olympics... :ohwell:

But, ultimately, I agree with Tyranid that Lena's charm is phenomenal. If she gets offered a role in a movie again and decides to give up skating, I can't say that I'd be that disappointed. Of course I'd love her to win the Olympics, but ultimately I think show business is where she is destined to be... :yes:
