Another report on the first practice session on Daily Sports Online:
https://www.daily.co.jp/general/2017/02/14/0009914883.shtml

Rough translation of his comments:
It was a fun practice session. This blue rink reminds me of the one in Sochi. This one may be a little bigger than that one, but the temperature inside is ideal for skating, and the ice condition is very good. And above all, I’m very happy that I can skate here, in good condition.

thanks everyone for all the reports!

Im really happy that yuzu feels confortable in Olympic rink and can get warm welcome from Korean people.:)

Lol looks like he didn't change the entry to the 4S3T in FS though

Hmm actually he changed. I saw Mohawk- 3 turn - Mohawk 2 of them were off but entry is changed :) and he nailed all combos .

Really? Looks like he always had multiple series of mohawk-3turn for his 4S entry but I didn't notice closely, so maybe you are right. He stepped out one of his 4S combo though, and then attach a 2T after that. Of the 3 attempts I have seen, 2 is quite tilted, but 2 landed and 1 stepout. From what I see, at least he lands them or stepout of it, not pop or fall, so it is still in a better condition that it was before.

Many many thanks for all the video and picture links. :thank:

I am so happy that this day has finally arrived. Usually it takes me long minutes to get up early but today it took me only a nanosecond to check how the first practice went :biggrin:

He looks very confident and cheerful and his comments are very promising.

Seems like Martinez enjoyed practicing with Yuzu ;)

A really blinged out banner all sequined just the way he he likes it haha (I wonder how heavy that thing is though...yikes.)

Another news from SBS (korea)
I translated it using google trans and adjust some of the wording to make it corrigible. Korean-speaking member do correct me if there is any fatal mistake.

"Ganbatte Hanyu!", "Jia You Hanyu!", "Hanyu Hwaiting!"

In the Gangneung Ice Arena where the 2017 International Ice Skating Championships (ISU) 4 continent figure skating championships are held, Figure skating fans from Korea, China and Japan gathered to support "Figure King"' HanYu Yuzuru (23, Japan).

About 200 fans were in attendance at the Gangneung Ice Arena, where official training began on the 14th, ahead of the 2017 International Ice Skating Championships (ISU) four continental figure skating championships which will be held on the 16th.

It is unusual for spectators to gather and watch the practice, not the actual competition.
It was the fans who gathered to see Hanyu, which is one of the best star in this competition.
Hanyu, who entered the Incheon airport on the 13th, immediately went to Gangneung, and on the afternoon, he made his first training at the main rink of Gangneung Ice Arena.

Some sightings of cheering banners for Hanyu were caught around the stadium, and some Japanese fans arriving in Korea on that day took a big luggage bag from the taxi and went quickly to make it for the training time.

Unexpectedly, there were many Japanese fans, Korean and Chinese fans in the audience.

A banner called "Yuzuru Jia you" (Yuzuru Whiting) prepared by a Chinese fan cheering Hanyu was also noticeable.

As soon as the practice time of Hanyu was approaching, the camera lens of the fans turned toward the entrance of the athlete, and as soon as Hanyu showed up, the sound of the camera shutter of the fans as well as the reporters was echoed on the rink.
With Coach Brian Orser, Hanyu began to unravel (lol? I think this means warming up), and the camera of the fans began to follow Hanyu. In the first training, Hanyu relaxed to the short program music.
Hanyu, who ran the rink and raised his body temperature, started his own quadruple jump training. Hanyu uses a 4Lo and a 4S3T combination jump in the short program. Having practiced triple axels, Hanyu immediately focused on 4S3T combination exercises.

Whenever he succeeded in the jump, he was puffed up in the stands (note: lol I don't know what this one mean). When Hanyu jumped on the 4Lo, 'Oh ~' sighing could be heard. After 40 minutes of training, Hanyu greeted the fans (note : I assume they meant the final bow); and the audience clapped another round of applause.

Hanyu said in a interview with the reporters after the training that he was able to say "Thank you very much, everyone. I am Yuzuru. Thank you for your support. Thank you. Thank you very much."

Reading from google trans :

it is said he likes the rink and the ice (it is in good condition). The reporter said "you have many fans in korea". He introduced himself in Korean, saying "Hello everybody, I am Hanyu Yuzuru" then Hanyu said, After asking the reporter what "thank you for supporting" is in Korean, he laughed at the broadcast camera and said, "Thank you for the support"

He said : "I had never been to Korea before, but I visited for the first time because of this tournament," he said. "I do not know much about the difference between Korea and Japan. I feel comfortable."

Hanyu said, "I have not yet eaten Korean food, but Samgyetang, Kimchi, and Sukdobu know it."

Hanyu said, "There are a lot of competitors such as Patrick Chan (CND), Nathan Chen (USA) and Uno Shoma (Japan) who are looking to win the Olympic Games." These athletes are all excellent. "I respect the competitors, but I am confident that I will win the Olympic Games." (Yuzu what lol).

Seems like Martinez enjoyed practicing with Yuzu

3 years ago Yuzuru became Olympic Champion ! Still a fabulous memory in my mind... That's a Valentine's Day

I love waking up to all these links and pictures and videos!! Thank you guys, really appreciate it!!! He and Brian both seem to be of good spirits :) and of course Yuzu learns to greet in Korean. Haha. It doesn't sound bad at all :D but I don't really know Korean so... Heh.

We should keep a tally of the number of selfies with #yuzuruhanyu that comes out of 4CC XD

And THANKS PAMIGENA for organizing the media thread :luv17::laugh::ghug::thank:

Ah, the selfie with Martinez is cute! But that comment ... for the love of everything, don't...

I'm not sure if that matters, Chen's planned layout didn't include 4S at US Nats only the 3Lo. Same here at 4CC.

Certainly possible :agree2: he might even decide on the fly, depending on how he's feeling. There was that statement over him not being 100% and preparing for Worlds so 4 might be it this time.
