I will from this point onward describe myself as an advanced aged skater who crushes dreams. But none of us want to crush anyone's dreams, we just want to encourage realistic goals. Those dreams are just as valuable and just as special.

I absolutely agree. If a beginner doesn't want to skate unless they can do quads some day, they are skating for the wrong reasons and doomed to disappointment.

I have wanted to post in one of those threads that I am in my 70s and have always wanted to sing, and ask if people think that if I start taking lessons now, I can sing at the Metropolitan Opera before I'm too feeble to toddle on stage. Oh, and by the way, I have breathing problems and have recently been diagnosed with asthma. I'm afraid, however, that someone might take me seriously and I'd start a war between the dreamers and the realists.

Heh, whenever I watch Match Arena footage with my Mom, she has more fun trying to understand the commentary (she's from the generation that all had to learn Russian) than watching the skaters.

So...which one is it this season?

I think everybody has more or less got used to his rhinestones-and-frills taste so the blue-green one isn't that much of a surprise, but the purple one is something else indeed.

Johnny Weir's ridiculous fashion choices. Hey, I Johnny's skating, and don't mind his commentary, but I wish he would tone down the clothes in the broadcast booth. It doesn't look professional to me, and the emphasis should be on the skating competition on the ice, anyway.

my Mom is from that generation too! and she's laughing her cheeks off hearing my broken attempts to read Russian words as I'm far better in understanding from listening than reading/speaking regarding Russian. TAT and Grishin are an integral part of watching FS for me, especially Europeans - their fangirling/fanboying over skaters, 'HOP!' shouting while jumping and all sort of comments
