Congrats to Shoma! He made it through imo this silly timed competition, still wish they
had sent someone else and let Shoma stay home and rest.
 
^^^I would assume Shoma would not question the federation, but it would be great if he could have asked to have been excused. Oh well, what's done is done. I would assume the answer would have been a resounding no.

Love the Michael C. Martinez instagram. Someone wrote in Spanish in the comments "Please give me 2 Shomas to go". :rofl: MCM does seem like quite the fan boy!

However, it is particularly the participation of one of the greatest figure skating star, Shoma Uno, which will set the ice on fire. The skater, bronze medalist on the last two Grand Prix and 3rd in the ISU world ranking, will skate on the Luxemburgish ice rink before going to the World Championships in Helsinki at the beginning of April.
Shoma is such a super star in his country that Japanese fans are planning to come to Luxembourg to support him.

what have I done to myself?

People always complain when Patrick wins.... and it bugs me... Now, I join Shoma's fan fest, and I cannot rejoice for his win either? I was even blamed on the AWG thread as the "one responsible" for this controversial win.... i wasn't on the judging panel.

I think sooner or later it will be called the 4everchan effect!

In other words, I didn't watch the SPs but saw the LPs last night. I had more pleasure watching the AWG than the 4CC. Sure, the skaters were tired. Some did better than expected. I think Shoma's team need to reconsider his schedule though. I really don't understand why he is going to Coupe de Printemps. Does he really need more competition experience? I think he just needs a long bath and a few good nights of sleep.

Just keep doin what you're doin! The vitriol is pretty amazing. :console: :ghug: And I get so annoyed that people like that take over the competition threads. On many levels, this was a very fun competition! I was so surprised when there was a pairs team from India! They needed a bit more polish, but I couldn't help but think what a thrill an event like this must be for people who maybe don't get a chance to compete often. And the N. Korean pair. Wow! And it was fun to get a different perspective on some people like Julian Yee. And how about the Pirate Man?!

I don't know about that Coupe de Printemps. I wonder if they've maybe gone back to the drawing board already and said, ""Mmmm - maybe not!" My thought was that they wanted to keep his energy level up by having to prepare for upcoming competitions. He always strikes me though as someone who needs a lot of sleep, so who knows. Maybe they'll reconsider. We can only hope! Hopefully his home has one of those awesome Japanese bath tubs and he can just soak (and sleep!) for two days! :)
 
I am for one hoping Shoma saves his best for worlds! I will certainly be there. No crazy shirts, but I was going to wear a lavender shirt for the SP (dual use for him and Yuzu, lol), but of course he HAD to switch it up :P. Anyway, I was playing Final Fantasy XV quite a bit today and I keep imagining Shoma skating to this:

Don't give up on the lavender yet. Maybe he'll go back to it! Not sure if it was true or not, but word had it that possibly his shirt was at the cleaners/laundry...Beautiful music. He's so versatile we all have about 10 songs we want him to skate to.

Congratulations to Shoma, AWG champion :clap:

He must be tired, but I must confess I'm exhausted with concerns and worries already :sad21:. I really wish Shoma staying healthy.

He was pushing really hard. I was amazed by his last 3-jump combo. Although he fell the last jump, this saved him a gold.

His protocol of FS at 4CC and AWG. He got GOE +1 for his 3Lz in 4CC :love:, and good GOE for his 3A overall (SP+FS) except FS in 4CC, and landed so many quads. I can't help but expect how it would be great if he is in good shape in Helsinki :cheer:

4everchan you need to choose better your faves!! ... Adding D/R, times must be difficult for you on GS ;) Fortunately you came to this place full of love and sympathy :agree:

I will echo what demarinis said in this thread before: "I like who I like."
Competitive careers are not long in this sport (unless his/her name is a 'Plushenko' ;)), so let's cheer hard for our own favorites and enjoy every bit of their skating while we can. No time should be wasted with being bothered by whatever naysayers would say. ;)

And please accept my belated (sorry!) but warmest 'Welcome!' to our Shoma-Fest thread, will you please! ^^)/

--Would Shoma most likely fly between Sapporo & Nagoya?
--Is the Japanese national anthem an easy one to sing? (I know, weird question, just wondering)

Winners of the Japanese Nationals were required to perform at Asian Winter Games because it was held in Japan this year, more specifically the hometown of some big wig of the skating federation.

OMG I just checked. He is using it as a tune up to test out whatever layout he plans to do in Helsinki. I guess it's a lot riding on this when you went from ONE quad last season to trying FOUR this season. :palmf: I just ask that he not be a bumbling mess when I get to see him, but I guess he's doing this competition in hopes of granting me my wish. He also adjusts to jet lag better by being in there earlier I guess,
