We're just as greedy for his wins as he is, aren't we?
 
It may be because since he didn't apparently go straight back to Canada after 4CC maybe he isn't yet in the kind of physical competition condition needed for these training simulations. And he did have 4CC recently, which is as good as.

My first thought was definitely JSF related... or ANA. Before the Olympics he was just a great skater, now he is Yuzuru Hanyu and anything related to him is carefully monitored, arranged, protected, call it what you will.
My second thoughts were media and fans, lol, dashing to kingston!!

And swimming in gold medals :3

About the simulations, I guess there could be a downside esp going in off the back of another competition, if for whatever reason he did badly in the simulation it could have a negative effect on his mindset going in to the actual competition. Perhaps he wants to avoid that?

He must have his reasons for not participating. You would expect Brian to really encourage him to participate if he did not.. but maybe he did and yuzu declined, we will not know. I would think any opportunity to simulate a competition environment would be beneficial, particularly for someone who has issues with certain skate orders. But, the opportunity was given and he made his choice so hopefully he is not working too hard while the coaches are away!!

Now that I think of it, Brian will be away for Junior Worlds in two weeks.

(I'm quite happy with the thought too that we don't get a lot of news until WC, but that he has time for himself and can just focus on getting ready. I'm sure he will be fine and amazing at WC :love: )
 
OH, yes, please. Let him have time to himself while he trains in his cocoon at TCC. Once he arrives in Helsinki it will be not stop and then he will return to Japan where it will probably be go, go, go as well. A month of quiet to focus and get ready is good for anyone.
 
Actually, isn't the simulation a bit too far? Is javi going? Because last year I remember the simulation was done in the US, if I am not wrong, and it was done around 2 weeks before worlds. It is still 3-4 weeks from worlds so it is actually a bit far?
I used to do simulation like this too before competition but I only did it 1-2 weeks before actual competition.

This particular training simulation appears to be at the Rogers K-Rock Centre in Kingston, Ontario, and Javi is there, alongside the other Javier (Raya), Gabby, Liubov/Dylan, baby Cha and others (check photo). So are Brian and Tracy, which means TCC has a couple less coaches while they're in Kingston.

Ah I see. Even Tessa/Scott and Papadakiz/Cizeron is there too. It looks like the one they did before 2016 worlds then. Thanks for the info :biggrin:
I don't think it is a problem if he did not go, as long as it is strategy-related and not health-related. Best of luck to everybody :cheer:

actually saw Lee barkell there too so even less coaches available lol

According to Brian's book, last year's was in Canada but yes it was done around 2 weeks before worlds. Maybe because Cha and Brian would be gone in two weeks?

Yeah maybe, can't remember well about where, but pretty sure it was close to worlds.

Lol I have no idea really, maybe Marie's kids are available only then and it is the most convenient for everybody? Who knows haha

This is what may have happened to Gracie Gold. She may have been using Golden Spin as a kind of simulation to recover from her GP events and prepare herself for Nationals. But Golden Spin ended up a disaster and probably made going into Nationals even more difficult for her.

As for Javi, I suspect he did so well in the FS at last year's Worlds because he was distracted by his foot injury.

I don't see doing simulations as being helpful to Yuzu. He's way past that point in his career.
 
I do think he didn't go this time because he had 4CC recently. Gabby and Liubov/Dylan are there, yes, but they don't have to jump quads, so it might be less taxing for them. Plus, Yuzu didn't return straight back to Canada either, which might have taken a week off necessary training to be ready again for a 'competition' scenario. If he hadn't done 4CC, he would perhaps have gone to this training simulation.

Well if Yuzuru is making changes 4S3T 4S3T maybe he'd take the time and be gone to Shae instead. Who knows...

You know, we joke and hope but from his interviews post 4CC, he said he'd figured out what entry to use so he was certain he could solve the issue, so I am not so certain we'll see anything BUT the 4S-3T...
