This is a Japanese special on Yuzuru but Nathan is prominently featured @ 36:18 and 38:55. Amazing to see how at ease Nathan was at 4CC. It's been so long since USFS had a singles skater with that kind of competitive nerve!

Also some cute NHK footage @12:02 :3

I was miffed at the coverage of 4CC; they chose a horrible pic of him in the middle of a jump and then slowly zoomed in on it. -Not nice NHK! :dev2: Otherwise, it was a positive piece on Nathan's amazing abilities.

^^^Don't know if anyone saw the link I posted previously -- mainly to show Nathan and his amazing piano skills (at :16). But at :32, they ask 10 year old Nathan if he gets nervous when he skates. He says he does a little beforehand, but once he gets into his pose, he doesn't feel nervous. He also says with the right speed and timing, he finds the jumps easy. He is definitely very gutsy! Obviously the stakes are a little higher now, but he does have competitive nerve! :)

I know...! But they do that all the time, to everyone including the top Japanese skaters.
And it's not just NHK either...!
Why do they do it?
I just have to laugh...

That was a particularly bad one of Nathan though!

This is partly why I rarely take photos of skaters during a jump: "Jump face" is usually very unflattering! Only a few skaters (eg. Marin) actually manage to look "normal" during a jump. (The other main reason - when I'm at a competition, I need to see the jumps with my own eyes! Not through a camera lens! I'm there to see the skating first, and take photos second!)

I think they choose these photos to show how frightening Nathan is. lol

Nathan really has the nerves of steel. His consistency is amazing, which you can see from his early performances. He has had more perfect programs than other skaters, iirc. It's a gift I think, not something that can be trained. E. g., Patrick fell a lot when he was a kid, and he still does. It seems to me he hardly brings out 100% his training in competitions.

Vincent Zhou seems to be a good gamer too. The USFS is blessed!

Japanese fans have pointed out that at 39:30 Hanyu notices Nathan wearing shorts ("han zubon") during the FS order drawing. LOL

^^^Wow, Worlds is gonna be a real battle. I think we're in for quite a treat! Love the "million Pooh bears" comment.

Which means it'll be in competition next week, lol!! At least, that is how it seems with these young guys these days.

It'll be his first time, but with his confidence and recent history, I"m sure he'll do very well in Helsinki. Some people just seem to take things in their stride and see difficult situations as opportunities rather than difficult situations...he seems that type, so far anyway. Good luck to him at World's.

When other skaters land a new quad it's like :hap57:

But when Nathan lands a new quad it's like
