Jason Brown

Ok, these posts are great. The level of detail worthy of Yuzu's fan fest:biggrin:

I agree that the T&I hair was great, down, but not really down, with the braids on the side. That said, I can't imagine that the Hamilton program won't have a ponytail. I mean, from the photos I saw, the men in the Hamilton cast have ponytails. (and yes, I am assuming there will be a Hamilton program. Never heard one single song and never saw it ... true confession, I was invited last year, sis and her family went, for that amount of $$$ and the trip to NYC ... God forbid I travel 70 miles to see Broadway's hottest show, sorry not sorry. I admire what was done there, but not my style)

And very interesting about the five o'clock shadow, I hadn't thought about that, but definitely you can see his beard. I just thought it was the maturing of our little Jason:laugh: If that is Rohene's doing, I agree:agree: He has a more mature presentation overall, and I think it works. Along with the muting of the bedazzler....;)

Yup.. watching Jason grow up has been a bit of a double edged sword... regretfully leaving our exuberant junior skater behind .. watching him morph into this handsome young man is a catapillar-to-butterfly transformation.. but all is moving forward as it should. I am eagerly looking ahead to the coming year, wishing Jason all kinds of good health, luck and success. No doubt he will face the future with optimism, strength and grace as is his custom.

Thanks for the comments, elbkup! I agree with a lot of that. I also liked the white and black.

Since Rohene's influence is mentioned a lot, are there any videos out there of Jason's comps before Rohene started choreographing him?

I lovingly refer to that as the Game of Thrones costume and I liked it quite a bit. ;) Actually, the Nationals T & I may be my favorite JB skate ever. And as long as we're talking about styling, I adore the T & I hair and would very much like to see it again.

Whether intentional or not, I think it's a nice look, and makes him look more mature.

I do like the bun, but to me it looks too sleek at times. I'd love to see it fuller, showing more of the curls, but I'm sure the slickness (product) is necessary to keep it under control while skating. I like the way his hair looks in practice videos. A little wild, but not too wild.

Actually I was OK with the mustard pants but they did cause a firestorm of controversy especially when Jason/Rohene made the change to dark navy tights at Worlds ... talk about drama. :drama:

Posting some of Jason's early skates all of which are pre-Rohene (tho I may be wrong..) should give you an idea of his costuming back then... for fun also ending with an early EX he did in white shirt, black pants, suspenders & fedora to Sinatra's "Fly Me To the Moon"

my favorite costume ofcorse was the riverdance costume. I woud love too see him in a red and black tango number just tering it up on the dance floor with his hair down and styled and curly looking really sexy. wow! I can see it now it would really sweep the fans up off their seats.:hap10:

oh by the way I love his skate too fly metoo the moon. he was so cute in that. iloved it so much. I wonder how old he was then. he looks good in hats.

Holy Cow, I am almost (almost:laugh:) ready to love Irish music, or at least love Celtic Thunder.

As I write this, (2:00 p.m. EDT) there are 1714 comments on the Riverdance link, (and they keep coming, some just posted a minute ago) all along the lines of "Amazing" "Wonderful" and all the other adjectives we know apply to Jason.

Further, the Riverdance link has been shared 17,470 times on Facebook. I took a look at the comments with the shares, (none of these are my friends, they are all comments on a "public" setting or I would not be able to see them):

"Irish...Celtic...Riverdance...Ice Skating....Put it all together and you got me. This guy is beyond perfect. I got chills, yeah, chills over ice skating!"

"could not imagine how you capture Riverdance on skates, but he kills it, just kills it"

and one of my favorites:

"You think he might be Irish? Fantastic skating!" ;)

Folks, when the haters get to be too too too much, this is the post to visit. I don't like thinking about skaters and social media, I don't think skaters should care about social media, but I hope this post and all these wonderful comments come to Jason's attention somehow.

Erin go bragh!

I think the stubble is a deliberate choice. If I recall, he only wears it in the SP and is always clean shaven in the free - correct me if I'm wrong! I think he looks great in both programs and I like the contrast. I hated the manbun in its first outing, but I've since grown to almost prefer it to the ponytail.

I always thought that what made the mustard pants particularly cheap/tacky/hideous-looking was the pairing with the lighter brown fake-leather belt/fake boots. And then the whole combo went and stood on the podium with Adam, Max and Joshua and the comparison in costuming was starkly obvious. Adam, Max and Joshua all looked elegant, well put-together, professional, properly packaged; Jason looked like he'd just been to a dollar shop costume department.

The change to the black pants was done by Kori and Jason while Rohene was absent. I think that's very telling. They knew it looked rubbish, but Rohene obviously didn't want to hear it. Between that and the awful original costume for the Scent of Love (which Jason actually admitted he hated in a press interview!) I have a feeling Rohene might have had his fingers prised off the costuming side of Jason's packaging.

well lets hope for the future costuming is done in good taste for the over all performance of jasons promgams. rohene is very talented please don't blame it all on him. it takes awhile too get costuming right too fit every program:dumb::bang:

OK, Jason fans, the latest Celtic Thunder update (this is worth joining Facebook for:biggrin:)

They *reposted* Riverdance at 8:02 p.m. today (Sunday) with the comment:

"Wow this video has gone viral, it's not hard to see why!"

 Ya think? Three years late to the party, but you are welcome, Celtic Thunder!

The original post has 22,800 shares (that's a lot in Facebook land), 17,000 likes and 1 million views. At first I thought that view count was from the original video, but I think that might be 1 million since Celtic Thunder posted it.

and another raft of Jason compliments.....

How funny! A couple of my opera friends shared the Celtic Thunder link a few weeks ago so I posted the Skate America FS, but it didn't get much response. Sadly! Wouldn't it be funny if Riverdance went viral again before this Olympics?!

ETA well I did my part and just shared the Celtic Thunder post on fb. Silly of me, but I would love to see that clip take off again! And - heh heh - people still love it, even without quads.

This made me laugh out loud!! have the photo you mention bookmarked and wallpaper it on my phone every so often because I love these guys so much and doubt we will ever see that podium again. I kind of agree with the costume comparison you mention but gave Jason's outfit the benefit of the doubt because his program told a specific story in a specific timeframe while the others reflected more abstract programs. I still feel Rohene must play some role in Jason's packaging now but I am relieved things have toned down whoever is currently handling that aspect of things.

I disagree, relatively. Max and Joshua were both dressed for more specific stories: Max the wounded, battle-scarred Gladiator, and Joshua the ghost of sad memories. And the dark pants - with the darker faux-leather belt/wrist strips and the discarding of the fake boots - really brought Jason back into that better-packaged group. Probably, in retrospect, the pants weren't as big a problem as the horribly juniorish boot covers, but their colour sure didn't help.

I watched the Men's LP at 2015 Nationals with a friend (who enjoys watching figure skating but isn't a nerd about it like I am) and I had the hardest time convincing her that Jason is about a month older that Joshua. She actually thought that Joshua was 21-22 and looked 4-5 years older.

IMHO, that's what was really bad about how Jason was originally packaged - especially when a young man is at a "coming of age" time in his life and had just competed at the Olympics.

I love Jason's T & I program and I think the reason I like the mustard pants is because they made him look more muscular and fit the wildness and passion of the Nationals performance. Also, that look was such a contrast to the youngish elfin look of the previous year. He looked like a different skater. I also like the dark pants from Worlds but they looked sleeker, and overall, I thought that program was sleeker and a little less passionate than Nationals. Just a personal preference. All in all, I'm glad we have both looks for what I consider to be an awesome program.

hi all I'm just curious but is Jason still in la training or is he back in co in monument training with kori I was just wondering ive seen photos of him in different places recently with emliy one of the coaches aaat the momument rinks. is kori stil his coach or is frank.:scratch2:

Kori is still his coach - I imagine he's back in Monument now. IIRC he was only going to stay with Frank for a short touch-up, about 10 days.

So here's something interesting: Jason's Riverdance video really is going viral on Facebook! Here are the numbers (M is millions, K is thousands):

Posted on 3/10/2017 by Celtic Thunder Official: 2.1M views, 24.9K likes, 3.4K comments, 41.4K shares
Posted on 2/17/2017 by Erin's Isle Irish Pub: 2.4M views, 19.3K likes, 4.1K likes, 38.9K shares

That's really amazing isn't it? I wonder if he knows?!

Just for fun, here's the Erin's Isle link, in HD:

ETA: I think Scott's commentary was a huge factor in that video going viral!

ETA 2: Its amazing to see how much he's progressed since then:
