Jason Brown

hello everybody well I cant wate tell worlds too see all of our favorite skaters compete. my fav is ofcourse Jason. I'm just wondering if anyone knows any tidbits on Jason off skstes life what does he do in the off time what kind of hobbies does he have and does he have aspecial some one in his life.im a Jason fan for sure and ithink hes one of the best. and when he gets the quads down he will be un stoppable. I would like too see Jason and Nathen chen make it too the Olympics nest year.:yahoo:

Well, this is old news, but I don't think it was posted before:scratch2: and since I'm fascinated by Jason's time with Frank.

From the Desert Figure Skating Club's Facebook page dated Feb. 27:

"Skaters and parents had an exciting treat yesterday! US Men's Bronze Medalist, Jason Brown, spent the week training at Desert Ice Castle! It was fun to see him working out! Jason was so nice and so friendly to all the skaters. Come back anytime Jason! Good Luck at Worlds!"

with the usual photos of gracious Jason posing with young skaters and one practice photo. Even with help, I'm still hopeless :dumb: at posting links, so I won't.

Hey, at least it's not a Celtic Thunder post :rofl2:

FYI Jason is listed as being an upcoming guest on Icenetwork's Ice Talk podcast. Something to look forward to.

Finally! I was really wondering if/when they would ever get to him. So we have that, and presumably also a pre-Worlds telecom to look forward to. Hopefully the media call will be done and up on Ice network by Friday!

Do we want to take book on how many times he is asked in the pre-Worlds conference about a quad?

Although he has his Jason-pleasant "I'm working on it, I'm training it, I'll put it in when it's strong enough" answer down pat.....

You guys, I'm gonna need some prayer circle level of help...for Jason not to be last in the last group for the SP.

Because that will be 1:40am on a work night...and I should probably at least try to be a responsible adult during Worlds.

Jason's media call took place today.

Good luck to Jason and Nathan at Worlds :yay:.

Thanks for the heads up, ice coverage.

Based on these two tweets by Lynn Rutherford, it sounds to me like Jason may not attempt quads at Worlds (at least in SP), but will focus instead on doing clean, high GOE/PCS programs as the best way to help the US gain 3 spots:

hi:ghug:

and that is what makes Jason a great athlete in my eyes - he's fully aware of his current state and abilities and want to use the in the best way possible instead of chasing impossible, risking his health in the process and limit himself only to chase after quads. His mature take on the whole situation, calm and positivity with whom he's addressing all those questions on quads, other skaters, other's layouts, Jason chances towards other competitors are truly remarkable - he seems to be fully aware that he can do his best (and he will), but a lot of things are not depending on him by person, he's not responsible for others and their showing as it could be often taken from any interview with Jason. He is an individual competitor, skater and performer, having only his skate in hands, not bunch of others - I also appreciate the fact that there is respect in his views over other skaters, competition, but at the same time there is also a confidence about himself, he seems not to be 'intimidated' nor 'discouraged' by all this talk.

Jason just have to be consequent, persistent and courageous in doing his thing, not looking at sides or behind him - the only right choice is to constantly move forward, looking for what's next for him. And there is plenty of good in my opinion.

All the best for both Jason and Nathan - both so different, but sharing same passionate attitude and poise, I have a good feeling about Men's competition regards US Men :cheer:

Wonder when Jason & team are planning to leave for Helsinki. The area between CoS and Denver is supposed to get hammered by a snowstorm tonight and tomorrow morning. I'm headed out to the store to stock up. :)

Great article by Beverly Smith (She compares Jason to Tigger with his boundless enthusiasm and optimism):

I fully agree with her closing sentence and would let him curl up around my hearth any day:

And if Brown were ever to get lost in the Hundred Acre Wood, I think I would open the door of my shack to let this cat curl up around the hearth. Because skaters like Chan and Brown must be cherished somehow.

Thank you Tavi!
And hmmm, well no quad in the SP seems like a good, safe choice. Better to be clean there, with maximized scores than potentially fall. It also gives him time in a way, he can then look what happened to everyone else and decide whether to risk it or not in the FS. I still think he may have to give it a shot but we'll see.

Coming off the magnitude of injury that he has endured (on top of last season's too), ... Train smart. Compete smart. Get the job done. Be in position to use every opportunity of preparation to peak during the intense Olympic season.

According to the article, my guess is wrong: he says there will be a 4T in both programs.

ETA, he also mentions 4F!

Oooh, haven't read it yet, I'm sort of multitasking but good, good. It's best to plan for both then he can decide on the spot if push comes to shove.

For the future I presume? We know he's been working on the 4S and the 4T IIRC. As long as they are relatively stable for the Olympics, even just those two will do just fine in a program that he is capable of putting out but of course, it's great to see he's thinking further ahead.

I'm at work so I just skimmed the article. It sounded like 4T is planned in both programs for Worlds but final decision depends on practice; was landing 4T and 4S before injury but no mention of current status 4S; 4F for future - doesn't sound like he's started working on it yet.

I'm laughing thinking about my calculations last night: how much can he get for two clean programs without quads?

Anyway, I'm sure we'll hear how practices go ( :) ) and that will give us an idea of what to expect in competition.

Really glad to hear his leg is no longer feeling weak and that he's got more height/power in jumps.

Rosa74: sorry to hear about the snow coming, but hopefully it won't last long- good luck! As to Jason: I'm betting with no real info that he's planning to fly out on Saturday.
