Shibutani's will win because the struggle between p/c and v/m will lead to mistakes from both because of stress and pressure...
I think the pressure will also get to the Shibutanis, paving the way for Chock and Bates.

I think that people overestimate the Shibs technical prowess by a lot. They have shallow edges, poor extension, their posture is good but most of the time they look extremely rigid, they have poor ice coverage in comparison to V/M, P/C, C/B, B/S, W/P, and G/P, little variation in choreography during their FD, and they have extremely open skating (they are literally only skating in hold when they have to be and their hold are very loose. I would complain about this normally because siblings, but since they only skate in hold when they have to, it makes me believe it is a technical issue). They are good at a lot of things, not great. Better than Chock/Bates does not equal best in the world. The only thing that they are truly great at is twizzles and they typically score around the same as other competitors when clean because other pairs have difficult entrances, exits, and variation from year to year.

They are going to be world champions eventually and are so close I think they will beat v/m who haven't been to a Worlds in 3 years. No one has anymore reservations about them and they are US number 1 team.
Seriously though, how many of those 9 million views are yours?![]()

They didn't say they worked harder - they said they're more prepared. Considering the injuries and coaching drama they've had in the past, I don't find that hard to believe.

V/M had also never been to a GPF or a 4CC in 3 years...

Exactly
Judges don't like c/b that much this season. Especially SD
Worlds just a little fraction different
1. Virtue/Moir
2. Papadakis/Cizeron
3. Shibutani/Shibutani
4. Chock/Bates
5. Cappellini/Lanotte
6. Bobrova/Soloviev
7. Hubbell/Donohue
8. Weaver/Poje
9. Gilles/Poirier

Now I just think they haven't been to a worlds in 3 years and will be overwhelmed. There is also the belief that they will be part of the Russian ice dance collapse and not the last good team.
?
Wrong thread for this type of rant.Judges don't like c/b that much this season. Especially SD

V/M are not in their prime anymore, they aren't able to do everything that was possible when they were younger. V/M were technically stronger at the GPF, but Papadakis/Cizeron have improved since then and now they have quite pristine basic skating in addition to their lifts, spins, and overall ability to interweave between positions that require full body movement (going from low to high or vice versa) being superior. Papadakis/Cizeron still have some Short Dance issues where V/M can beat them, but the Free Dance is worth more and that is where they are unmatched. Although their Free Dance is not as flat-out astonishing as last season's, they are still the best.
please tell us the difference since you seem to know... cause, i don't.. i never competed at that level... and of course, even if i had, perhaps that my answer would differ from others...
if we are playing the stress factor, v/m, with the experience and season they have had, should be the most confident couple out there
Oh totally... that's why C/B got a SD personal best at Skate Canada this season, right? :sarcasm:
Gotcha. They are hard workers though, so I do think they could be either 5th or 6th. When you compare their technique with the top 3 they're just so obviously below them. S/B have the better choreography, but their technique is even more suspect. How can Russia not see this problem with their skaters or is it that ID is no longer a priority?
Wrong thread for this type of rant.
You could say this about v/m before every time they lost to d/w while v/m were Olympic champs. They develop problems and lose.
Well that was the high mark and then major decline.
They do work hard and that's the saddest thing. They are working very hard but with terrible non COP guidance which leads to decline from 1st to 3rd at euros. If they worked hard but with people who didn't believe levels were all fake and political but rather with spiliband or d/l or Fusar poli they could be contenders for a medal. abandoning Russian style choreo would also help.
