I think I have never seen him so serious and tense, on the ice and later, in the K&C. On the bright side, this time no one will say that he is easygoing… I have to admit that I enjoyed more last year’s performance but a clean program is a clean program!!

Yes, that was the most serious, focused I remember ever seeing Javi. Brian and Tracy seemed more excited by his score than he was! But kudos to him. With the season he has had I was quite nervous for him. (Still am. There's the free to get through. And if last year taught us anything, it is not to take a big lead for granted.)

I shall miss this program. I, too, prefer last year's version. But a clean program is indeed a clean program. And I know I will be going back to watch this performance for a long time. :hap10:

I read that Javi has been working with someone from Spain's National Ballet, and I think that work came through in this SP. His lines - arms, legs, and back - seemed a lot cleaner and more elegant than I've ever seen in his programs. I'm also impressed by his attitude. Javi came to WIN! Forget that his BV was the second lowest of the "Big 6," Javi came into this competition with blinders on, fully believing that he could win, and that self-confidence and belief really shined through in his magnificent short.

Fingers crossed that he skates as well, or at least close enough, in the free skate!
 
Hi everyone! Here's the translation of A. Grishin and T. Tarasovas' comments. Had to chase the video as it is banned everywhere. It's not 100% as some of it was jammed and it was cut at the end as well.

T.T. A real Dimond! So clean, every element, except the spin on 2 legs he shook a bit. Generally all the jumps were executed on a +. His manner was soft then rigid then very serious, a full bouquet of emotions.
A.G. The world championship is becoming Javier’s tournament. Two years in a row he beat his main rival, Hanyu. At the moment Hanyu is 6.5 points behind Shoma Uno, though right now every single point counts.
T.T. I understand but today it’s allowed. I’m mostly focusing on what these brilliant skaters are learning. For example, Fernandez has learned 4Lo and Yuzuru as well. There’s some kind of movement there, you see they could have stayed at the same level as before but they choose to move up, learn more and develop new skills.
A.G. Javier is not just a serious guy but he’s aiming for ‘world domination’. Not too long before this championship he started to think about the next season. He says it wouldn’t be bad if there was another Olympic champion in Orsers’ group. Surely he means himself. Now we see that he’s not far from what he plans.. the second to highest record in world figure skating for SP 109.05. No one beside him and Yuzuru has got such high scores.

Greetings from Helsinki! What can I say after having had the privilege of seeing the utter brilliance of Javi's Malaguena? I must admit I secretly wasn't expecting Javi to really  challenge for a medal this year. The spark we saw so often last season just wasn't there this season except in a couple of performances. Neither were the jumps. And then he shows up at Worlds with this! Figure skating being such a subjective sport with much of it in the eye of the beholder, I will go ahead and say that for me this is the best men's short program ever. It's living and breathing flamenco,  choreographed all the way to the tips of the fingers. I don't think it's any wonder that Javi hasn't been able to go clean with it before. It must be incredibly difficult to pull off all the elements integrated into this program. But finally it received the performance it always deserved! I will never ever forget a single second of it. Sitting on the edge of my seat. Nearly chewing on my Spanish flag with nervousness. Screaming through the jumps. Hell, even screaming through choreography! Seeing Javi's face as he performed part of his step sequence close to where I was sitting. The entire arena jumping to its collective feet at the last beat of the music. Seeing Brian's jubilant reaction from the corner of my eye. People around me clapping and yelling and smiling, eyes wide with wonder. The almighty roar erupting as the scores appeared on the jumbotron. Me apologizing to the Finnish lady, a casual viewer sitting next to me for screaming in her ear, and seeing tears in her eyes. My new friend eppen and I struggling for words to express our astonishment as we met up afterwards. That's how incredible Javi was. Whatever the outcome on Saturday, this was a performance for the ages.

Haha I didn't think of that! Maybe it wasn't Javi's brilliance that brought her to tears, but rather the pain in her ears! :laugh:
 
Well, that was painfull to watch.
I knew that someday he would step down the pódium, someday...
I wasn't ready today!!!!:palmf:

Anyway, congrats to the medallits, it was a great final.
Vamos Javi!!! There will be more programs for you to skate and for us to enjoy!!!

I still haven't watched his FS, I just saw the protocols and now I'm putting it off because it will be sad to watch. :(
But hopefully this will motivate him to work hard towards next season, he is a good chaser, after all :yes:

I love to gossip as everybody else but, their private life is a red line for me. If they have something to say, OK, I will comment, but they haven't said anything so, there's nothing to say or guess, as far as I am concerned.

Miki retiring!! It's too soon for us!!But maybe not so soon for her and, as far as I know about her, she is the queen of surprises and she is brave, that's what I like more about her.
Miki, we will miss you on the ice!! And yes, we will be waiting for news too...

Sad for Javi. He had such a wonderful sp, his best performance of that wonderful program... but not his best today. I thought if he just got through his program he would hold on for gold, but just too many mistakes that he usually does not make. He'll come back stronger next year. You know it. I want an Olympic medal for him, any colour.
 
Just realized, it's April Fool today! Miki has probably posted it as a joke :biggrin: Regarding break up, you're right it's their private matter. I was just curious, since they announced publicly about going out together. And I thought maybe I missed some news.
 
Absolutely. They two know what each other has gone through to get here, the daily aches and pains, training ups and downs, etc.. They are the best of training mates I would say, pushing and motivating each other without negativity. For some such a situation might be intolerable, but they make it work and are to be commended.
 
I´m very glad for Javi´s sp win and that in the combined result he got his best score of the season!!!

I´m sad for him that he lost the title and the podium place, but in the end it may have been the best thing to happen to him in this point. Hopefully now he will be able to concentrate on preparing for the Olympic season soon. In current season he had too little time to fully prepare for the Worlds and we saw the result. Maybe at least one more month would have been needed? Anyway, the Olympics will be in February and his normal preparing schedule needs to be changed a lot earlier. I´m sure if he has hopes for a medal at the Olympics he will work with his coach accordingly.

Completely gutted for Javi. I would have had him above Jin for bronze. I agree that Jin has improved his performance skills, but seriously - what was going on with Judge #9? :confused:

Agreed. I also think it says a lot about what a professional Brian Orser must be.
