Elena Radionova

Separately, Misha Ge said he's in talks to choreograph programs for two Russian ladies for next season.

Misha Ge said he's in talks to choreograph programs for two TOP Russian ladies living in Moscow. Even fewer options. Medvedeva - Averbukh, Sotnikova - Peter Chernyshev - 99%. Sotskova - not TOP, and I think - Chernyshev - 90% and/or Kanaeva - 10%, Tuktamysheva - lives in SPb

Sighhhh, well, it seems that some of the Russian fans are very upset that the Fed decided to send Lena to WTT instead of Anna. :(
They are attacking Lena, but that seems unfair. It's not her fault that the Fed made this decision!!!

Buyanova (Adelina's former coach) also said that it's "incomprehensible" that Anna is not going...

But personally, *I* wonder if she's just trying to make things difficult for Lena/Team Goncharenko now that she lost her star pupil...

Clearly this is causing some controversy though, because the Fed actually issued a statement justifying their decision:

After the performance of Anna Pogorilaya, the decision was made in Helsinki to give time and opportunity to the athlete to move away from the trauma and quietly prepare for the next season. According to FFKKR managers and specialists, it would be difficult for Anya to compete in the World Team Trophy, because she would not have much time between this tournament and the World Championships. No other reason, which were announced in the media, no. And even more so no one took into account the emotions and experiences of the athletes after the free skate rental. All this is understandable and humanly understandable.

With regard to the replacement of the second spot on the women's team at the World Team Trophy, the ranking of Elizaveta Tuktamysheva is slightly higher than Elena Radionova. But this season, Liza failed to realize its full potential. At the last competition, which both athletes participated in, Winter Universiade, she lost to Elena Radionova, who won the competition in Alma-Ata, and after the World Championships in Helsinki was included in the squad for the World Team Trophy. Maria Sotskova is six places below Radionova in the rankings. Also do not forget that for yesterday's juniors it is the first adult season.

So that's the official story..

Sigh, this is really annoying because now there will be huuuge pressure on Lena to do well. :( Before, I thought it would be a good opportunity for her, but now, if she doesn't do well it will really look bad for the Fed and the Anna fans will really shred her to pieces.

So I guess...Lena fighting!!!!!!! :hap10:

I badly need to see Crazy in Love again.

Me too!!! Hopefully Lena gets to skate in the gala.

Honestly I resent the attitude that Buyanova always has against Lena, for the fans that rage is understandable, since they should consider that Anna deserved to go to the WTT and not to Lena ... I think if Anna was called to the WTT After What happened in Helsinki would be like exposing her to more pressure, Anna seems a very sensitive and noble girl.
I hope Lena is well contained by her team, family and friends, although she is strong the comments are ruthless.

After watching Elena's performance at TAT's birthday show, I think she is in a better shape than earlier this season. Not sure how much related to her costume, it appeared she gained some weight even around her waist earlier this season but in the birthday show, she looked perfect, with great posture and not to mention her performance ability. She should keep that dress for a competitive program.

Yes, in Lakernik's interview about WTT he said that Lena is in better condition now (I hope he's right!!).

...That is why we decided to give it a try and send Radionova to the WTT. It was collective decision, because she started the season poorly, however at the end she is in good form now, we saw it. And in this situation it's better for us to have not only three girls and close the list but have more, so in the next season we could see what will happen.

Sounds like the Russian Fed wants to keep its options open for the Olympic season, which makes sense. It's unfortunate for Anna, but from the Fed's perspective, it makes sense.

I really hope Lena shows up in excellent shape and kicks butt!! :yes2:

I have to mention that from what I've seen on Twitter, the Japanese fans are super excited that Lena is going to Japan (as they should be!). :hap57: Though some are wondering if there's going to be friction between Lena and Evgenia...siighhh, I really hope there's not another controversy like there was at last year's TCC... :palmf:

GOOO LENA!!!

Buyanova annoys me! I am willing to bet she would be alright with Anna not going if Sotskova was being sent instead of Lena.

Yes, I read in Instagram that the Fedración does not send Liza (despite having a little more score than Lena) to the WTT for her performance in the Universiades ... Lena was the winner, I guess they also take into account her Performance on the anniversary of TAT? 😕

Lisa is injured, she said this in an interview on March 31. "I'm seriously taking care of the medication now," Tuktamysheva said, "I've had problems with my backache, which have been for a long time, and I'll try to finally cure myself, because there's time. The trauma is serious, But do not worry, not enough to quit with sports." http://www.sportsdaily.ru/articles/...uktamysheva-k-medvedevoj-nikto-ne-podberetsya
Apparently the Fed also took into account making a choice in favor of Lena.

Most likely the Fed made this choice because EC-17 and WC-17 especially team showed a low level of Russia's position before the OWG. And Fed needs revenge on WTT to demonstrate that WC-17 was accidental. Elena has participated in team tournaments, as well as statistically it does not show dramatic drops, and usually in the second half of the season have good results. It can contribute to victory at WTT. Sotskova has shown that it is declining since RusNationals, and has system errors on the jumps (system downgraded jumps and falls). Lisa is injured. Pogorilaya can demonstrate a good skate, and can demonstrate dramatic drops. This is a strong risk for the Fed and the final team result.

Then my thoughts are correct ... What really matters to the Federation is to have a better position than the one obtained in both competitions, although Evgenia won both ... And in the first competition Anna had done well too ... Me It Seems ...
What matters most to me is that Lena does it well.

There are allegations (and i think that they are accurate) that Buyanova is envious of Goncharenko. The whole Buyanova-Goncharenko "conflict" is interesting. The Tarasova-Shekhovtseva "conflict" is interesting as well (Tarasova was fired from Match TV for "unprofessional" commentary).

Was Tarasova fired then?

IIRC, last year TTC, everyone cheered for Evgenia for her skating but Radionova which wasn't there.
Someone said it was because some friction between them, but actually Elena wasnt't there only because she was prepared herself for her skating.
