Not at all surprised by CSG... in the WTT thread I complained about pre-rotation issues and CSG suddenly picked on me and said icky stuff about Yuzu because he was pissed at my comments and I was like... I never even mentioned Yuzu at all in this thread?! Like, not even once?! I kept all my gushing here, strictly. :rolleye:

Don't post future analysis videos in the Edge, even if they are non-Yuzu ones. Why should those people benefit from all the hard work you guys did when all they do is ridicule you for it? They don't deserve your efforts.

The thing is there are others who might and will benefit and would be thankful to us, I'm sure. But it's not going to happen anymore - not here, anyway, since the critics are incapable of producing anything as good. Such a promising project totally derailed by unsubstantiated abuse.

The whole thing makes me look at the video again, it already has 30 thousand views and 1000 likes in just about 1 day! Good job guys!

You can ignore a small portion of salty GS users who missed out on the hard work (and informative piece) you did, clearly there are many more out there appreciating your hard work and effort. :ghug::thank::hap10:

Woah it's so unfortunate that some people have such deep grudges against Hanyu/his fans that they will literally nitpick anything. I honestly don't think the argument against the "world record" title was simply because they had an issue against isu recognition. It was just finding a reason to bring down the idea of Yuzuru Hanyu.

When I watched the video for the first time, I was blown away by the sheer amount of educational content in it. I have never been able pick apart steps effectively myself, and the video was such a big help. Posting on the edge was probably in hopes of helping other people who wouldn't normally read this fanfest see it too. But I guess some people take it as an offense against other skaters even if there were no comparisons made in the video at all.

To everyone here, it may feel really tough at times so I think we would all understand if someone wanted to call it quits. But here's why I'll stay. I joined GS because I was a fan of figure skating, especially Yuzuru Hanyu after I inadvertently discovered him through a history project...( long story). I'm the sort of person who loves sharing content and engaging in discourse about things I like. Literally I have written essays about Yuz in my free time. But maybe one or two of my friends at most would hear me out about it. When I discovered GS, and especially this fanfest, I was really happy because people would take me seriously about the skaters I love. I wanted to say :thank: to everyone here, and let you all know that you're appreciated. I wouldn't know half the knowledge about Yuzuru I have now if not for the people contributing to this thread. Thank you, <3

Yeah and he will never get any warnings and infractions.

And I will never forget that one of the admins called Hanyu's fans shameful in a thread about jump technique even though several people there clearly stated that they're are not Hanyu's fans and they're there for the fairness of the judging. And please I have been here for years I know they're not Yuzuru's fans at all and they never post in this fan thread.

I feel hurt and tired of that kind of treatment. So anyone criticize Hanyu's rivals are Hanyu's fanatics even though they don't even like Hanyu a bit. Lol

Well, I feel less humiliated by the abuse we got from some people than by the brisk treatment the thread got in the end. I also think there's a clear case of double standards. The sad thing is that so many people didn't get to have their say about our work because of the aggressive attack we were sure we'd get in the end.
I feel hurt now. I hate to think what the others might be feeling. The feeling will pass, I won't leave the thread - I love you, crazy people, and I love coming up with translations and stuff for you, but I feel unwelcome to GS in general.

I'm so sorry.

At first I was feeling upset that they closed a perfectly reasonable thread and made no effort to address the reason that caused the thread to spiral out of control, actually even blaming Hanyu fans directly as if there's only one side to that argument. And then I realized that it's not just about being able to post anything Hanyu-related without ridicule, it's about ignoring the hard work of some valuable members who've been here for years, who knew that their opinions wouldn't be welcome and very clearly tried to avoid giving them, who must have put in hundreds of combined hours into this project, and it just gets closed as if it was troll bait. I can't imagine working so hard on something that you care about and are excited to show other figure skating fans for it to end up like this. I'm sorry.

So: can we not try to look deeper to the video here - hopefully with the slow motion version pretty please  -? I have some questions and doubts that I would share with / ask to you.
Pity fot the others that will eventually miss this: but at the end you gave to them all the opportunity.

On a brighter note, FSuniverse isn't fond of Yuzuru much but they still appreciate the video and they're glad to see an analysis like this.

What doubts?

Not dismissing the Yuzu prejudice, because we just had a case study—but there are other skaters who get a lot of unchecked negativity on the forum. The criticism of Medvedeva and the Canadian ladies doesn't stay constructive; there are nasty comments about them that remain up. And Russian ice dance gets pretty scary. Poor Bobrova! As for what is moderated or not, I don't know how that works... *backs away slowly* *dons invisibility cloak*

Well yes, I feel the same. I feel pretty hurt about the way that video was treated, and even more by the fact that that is accepted and therefor even encouraged here on GS. And I don't feel welcome on GS (meaning the Edge & outside stuff) either, but since a long while longer than this week (like... sometime in 2012). I can't really complain, since I decided a while ago that "if you can't beat them, play their game" and felt a round of infraction bingo would be more fun than trying to get any form of discussion about FS happening in a forum that to big parts apparently doesn't really want to talk about skating (you know, skating, not costumes and sassy faces and hot coaches). Some times I reverse back to trying, but as it was proven again right now, it's not worth it.

I think it was Sydney Rose who said maybe we should do them the favor and look for another platform. I'd personally be game for that one.
(And then GS can go back to pre-Sochi, when big competition threads had like, 15 pages :p )

yeah, sure, welcome, any questions would be good. It's not as if we claim that our work should be above any criticism or doubt - and we're in for a round of international debate involving Yulia and me as her translator. But we only ask for less sneer and aggression than what we got. :)

Well I'm embarrassed for their embarrassment for us. I'm so darn proud of his fans. So many of us have gone to see him live, supported him and figure skating in person and in spirit. The dedication and hard work of all the videos, translations, updates, fanarts, fangroups, and others are truly in a class of its own. :taunt: Really love you guys. :ghug:

This. People are discussing whether Yuzu can be considered GOAT yet or what else he needs to do for that, and I think a lot of it comes down to his being the first to break points barriers, to be the one who holds so many world records. Without the records his competition history is obviously still extremely impressive but there are others who can match/beat it, so then they can downplay his achievements and say 'well so-and-so won this competition more times than Hanyu so he can't be that good.' With the dominance he's had over the world records for the past few years though I think it's pretty obvious why so many people consider him the best, and even if the ISU doesn't officially recognise it pretty much all the rest of the world does :handw:

I thought they only complain about Zhenia's programs and her being overscored? So yes Zhenia gets unreasonable hate just like us.

I think most people love Canadian ladies. Not sure about ice dance. I can't watch most ice dance this season because they're sooooo boringgggg.

Only if we could export the thread there too. I'd miss it far too much. :) It has such a history - it deserves its own book and its own novel. :)

Yeah, I remember there was a yuzuruhanyu forum, something like maoasadaforum one. But taking care of the server and else would be work and it requires $$$, so unless someone is going to spend time and fund it, that would not be an option.

I actually don't despise GS that much, been a lurker here since before Sochi. Back then many were actually more into his bandwagon because they despise how Chan was scored lol. Now that he is the man to beat who has won everything (but 4CC lol) of course the sentiment will shift. That said, there are MANY neutral FS fans who are not Yuzu ubers in GS, and they are very appreciative of his skills and talent. They usually just avoid threads that are hellfire though, and you can find them in more neutral topics that talk about techniques. It is quite unfortunate that the thread become a hellfire like that because it could have been a platform for a constructive discussion. :/

Why exactly? CSG a friend of an admin or something?

And I'd like to know the name of that admin please, if that's allowed?
