I'm sure he would want something completely amazing for the Olympics anyway. Can't see him recycling.
Yuzu did R&J at Sochi, which he has already done and won a world medal with it before, but changed costume and music cuts. So yeah, it's very possible that Shoma is not gonna recycle as well (or if he is, that he will still do some changes here and there).

Well it wasn't only music cuts. For his first version he used the music of the 1999 movie, the second version was the classic 1968 music (though some skaters like Yulia mix them together), it wasn't precisely a recyle. I wonder if Shoma might do something like that, like choose another version of Nessun Dorma (though I hope he doesn't, I liked the version he used before). I assume there will be some big changes in the choreography since now he has to accomodate more quads.
As for costumes, perhaps he might go for something like the costume he used in some of the first showings of Turandot on ice shows? The red one? Though he went for red this season so perhaps he might want something else.
The Winter costume will be blue, one must have a blue costume for the Olympics

Shoma... I believed you. I trusted you. I thought we finally established some things after you successfully got rid of that hideous 2nd version of your FS costume. How could you betray me this way?! I understand... I mean, I want to. It's Olympic Season and warhorses and inevitable BUT WHY TURANDOT?! Thousands of figure skating fans just got sentence of singing "Vinceroooo!" when you skate. I know that recycling is positive thing but hot here Shoma, not here.

And Four Seasons is ok. It suits him and his musicality will definitely help to bring 100% out of music

I'm sorry, I strictly meant costumes, lol. I thought Yuzu's first R&J was much better than the second one honestly (I barely ever re-watch that program; meanwhile I could marathon Parisienne Walkways :luv17:), and it was a completely different version of R&J. I wouldn't be surprised if Shoma does similar cuts again though because it was those sections that reached him and those are the most famous.

The movie is from 1996. I know because it's been one of my favourites and I saw it in the theatres when I was a teenager, and I have fond memories of that day, haha. I loved R&J 1. R&J 2 not so much.

Let's see what Shoma will do. Wasn't it Paul Potts that sung in his cut? He'll probably choose David Garrett for Winter, haha.

Hihihi... Although the thread is frozen for maintainance, Yuzu's still sneaking around in this forum... somehow.

I've just rewatched Shomas free at the Grand Prix Final 2015 and really got back into it. That was absolutely stunning and I don't want to know, how epic it might even get, if he feeds the programme with the 4Lo and 4F

I am another who is disappointed with Turandot again, but finds it very understandable. He did it so well the first time and it is truly Olympic music. Everything done to it just seems so much better than if skated to something else, so it leaves a strong lasting impression. I am sure it will be freshened up too... and with all that Olympic stress building over the year, it is an advantage to be comfortable with your program from the start. This is the season of war horses, so not a huge surprise.

The sp could be fantastic, I trust his team.

I remember when skaters kept their Olympic music under wraps until the last moment, but I guess many people want to release theirs early so no one else takes it now?

Nessun Dorma will go down very well with the Italian audience in Milan, if nothing else. ;-)

That was a really early announcement, wow.

Hopefully Shoma will go Worlds, but woah, you're right. Didn't think of this. Haha, Fluffy you sneaky girl!

I can't see any healthy member of team Japan not going to Worlds with spots on the line for next year's Worlds in Japan. :noshake:

Down but not out :cool14:

Part of me is meh because I did see it in Boston, so I'd rather see him do something new live. But he knows what's best for himself.

Yeah I'm also getting the feeling of calling dibs. It's like when women go to a party and hate seeing someone else show up in the same dress.

It was the first thing I thought of... and then I had to think hard where the Olympics will be held. *blush*
Clearly, I have some strange priorities in life.

Edit: I don't think the boyz will be given much of a choice about Worlds.

It would have been quite the surprise if Shoma skated to 'Homage to Korea' in his LP. :) Maybe he has his eyes set on a World Title in Milan. I could see Yuzuru missing Worlds if he wants to retire after winning the Olympics. Last time they were in Japan immediately after, so he probably felt like he had to go. Who knows. I agree though that Team Japan has a strong work ethic. Exhaustion, though, is real. The Olympic Games are tough.

The GP will be held in Grenoble. It's a city near the French Alps. It makes sense since it has a great history in winter sports, and the skating club is the biggest of the country and has produced many champions.

Have they officially chosen Grenoble? I had been trying to find some info but didn't see anything. And (pardon my lack of knowledge), is it possible to fly to Grenoble,or do people fly to Paris and then (somehow) get to Grenoble?

When Pika mentioned Grenoble I just checked it out. Seems like a pretty hard place to get to. Nearest airport is Lyon, which is about an hour away. Mmmh...

honestly i understand Sho wanting to show his growth as a skater and if he really loves Nessun Shoma so be it, but after such a beautiful edgy statement program/step forward like Loco, going back to Turandot feels a bit like a soufflé flopping.
However I am excited for Winter, i'm ready for an epic step sequence please give it to me (the editing could do or undo this program for me though)

I'm really excited about both programs, and I'd forgotten that Worlds are in Milan. Vivaldi and Puccini will play great in Milan. I look forward to Shomita taking Nessun Dorma to new heights through Fluffy's amazing choreography and his improved tech and artistry. Every time I've seen "Winter" in person or on You Tubes, the audience always gets into clapping mode in the parts where the violins get wild and crazy. I think it's gonna be great, especially the step sequence. A final tribute to the leprechaun look. https://pic.twitter.com/HaWxApxaI2 This banner was at the Risport Skate booth at Worlds. Lots of people were taking their photos with it! Either that thing is photoshopped, or Shomita is just a tiny bit heavier now.

synesthesia, I loved magicaleggplant's review of the Loco program. It was great to see that she chronicled how it grew over the season. What a program. I also followed the link she posted to her earlier Skate America review and was surprised to see that I was in her photo she had posted of herself (where she has an eggplant covering her face!). Thank goodness I was holding up my Kindle and it blocked most of my face! :drama:

Hopefully Shomita's ping pong days are over. I never realized what a dangerous sport it is! :scard7:

Nessun Shoma? *lol*

@Arriba
I think for me it's just the shock, that we get nothing new. Another season of a piece of music, we've seen him interpret before. I hope he will bring new stuff in the choreography and I totally get why they did this. It's because Shoma needs to concentrate on his jumps. The more I think about it the more it makes sense. Come the Olympics he has the choreography down in his sleep, having skated to this so many times. He can focus on his weaknesses, and doesn't have to worry about the program itself. As a fan, it's sad. From Shoma's side it is clever. More than often for a lot of skaters I prefer non-Olympic Season programs, because they are more eager to experiment there. I think we'll get a lot of great programs after 2018 from Shoma. And perhaps Fluffy will urge Shoma to do something different. For now, I really get it. So, I look forward to 'Winter' which I'm totally confident in.
Haha, Ping Pong. Poor Shoma!

@synesthesia
Yes, thank you. That review is really good. I don't think it's rude or something, she's just brutally honest. As we all are, because we want Shoma to improve. I think it's more than okay, to say this is something I don't like. Like I disliked LOCO before as well.

I initially felt lukewarm about the announcement for next season, but still believe he can sell them greatly with his musicality.
