I guess at least one in each category. We are entering the season of warhorses. Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, some well-known OST...

Don't forget Romeo and Juliet, and Tango Roxanne... :) ETA: I can't think of any more off the top of my head... Is POTO still classified as a warhorse? I feel like it got soo overused in 2015 that everyone stopped using it lol

There's always so many of those. [emoji23] But which will have more?
Of Warhorses so far, Yuzu has done Bolero, Romeo and Juliet TWICE, Phantom of the opera, Chopin, Firebird, --I think that's it.

POTO is still a warhorse, someone will skate to it next season, I think it was in the next season program's thread.

Should we add Turandot and Vivaldi?

I am not sure about Chopin. Did anybody skate to Ballade n1?

haha the fight between warhorses to be the most overused!
The thing is I love Tango Roxanne but almost everytime I see a program with it I think Yuna... :slink:
Mmh yeah I really appreciate how, for the past two seasons especially, he's being really fresh and creative with his music choices. Although does Chopin count as a warhorse? Has Ballade No 1 been used a lot?

Mao has, but if its just her, then I guess it doesn't qualify as one. But it's well used outside skating. :scratch2:

Is there any video of Mao skating to it? Yuzuru's version is still the ultimate SP for me, the absolute perfection, but I am curious.

I looked through her programme list on wikipedia and it says she used it as the 2010-2011 EX. Also, looking through her music choices I really like the music she's picked... A lot of really nice classical music :)

Anyways, Ballade No 1 is pretty well known outside of skating but I haven't really seen it in fs... I feel like piano pieces, like solo piano pieces, aren't really that common? It's more often orchestral or violin or something... Like Chopin is used quite a bit but not even that much? I think I've seen a couple of nocturnes but that's it. There's also Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata.

Maybe I just haven't seen enough programs

Thank you, I will try to find the video.

Yes, it seems to me that Chopin is not overused like Tchaikovsky or Rachmaninoff.

Another warhorse composer is Puccini. How many skated to la Boheme, Tosca, Madama Butterfly and Turandot? And how many will skate next season? it is curious that Asian skaters often choose music from his Asian-themed operas.

Sorry, I have gone completely off-topic :palmf:.

ETA I found Mao's Chopin

And Finally, the painting I've been working on the last few days. http://figureskating-in-color.tumblr.com/post/160545585642/so-in-the-end-it-didnt-take-forever-but
:dance2: based on ALL his costumes. -Or almost all. Seeing the full range of his color chocies, I'd like a deep blue with sparkles for his next costume...or maybe something like this:

this is beautiful as usual :luv17: and a bit late but thanks for the translations and news as well :thank:

I can't help but wonder maybe he'll skate to a violin-based piece of music, or any string instrument, really. I think it was during a casual conversation, when talking about piano music(Chopin), he mentioned something like he likes strings too and it is also part of his name! ( For those not familiar with kanji the last character of his names is literally strings).

For the Olympics I think he can't go wrong with something classic, beautiful, and also in his mind symbolic of his identity and a homage to his parents who gave him his name! Of course this is pure speculation. :)

The name has the character for bowstring in it. The characters have a beautiful form to them, I've always thought. I don't think he's done much violin music, but I've also thought that it would be a good match.

That would be so nice

For violin pieces I would really love if it he skated to Czardas. Or Schubert's Serenade.
Or maybe something like Bach's Toccata? (that's organ though)

Haha I totally agree! I also kind of want something really dramatic ala the atmosphere in Nice when he was performing Romeo and Juliet but not the same kind of music... If you know what I mean :hap85:

Oh this is gorgeous! Beautifully arranged and painted - these circles remind me of the olympic rings a little.

Is there anyone else who immediately associated every single colour and pattern with the corresponding programme?
