I am kind of sad she isn't getting a new SP, and I honestly would have liked to see Averbukh choreograph for her because interestingly, I think his programs for Elena are actually much better than his programs for Evgenia.

Shae-Lynn Bourne has choreographed Lena's short program for the last season and she has done her free program for the next season as well earlier this month. I'm glad that Lena kept the short program with the comical hip movement and she has just mastered it last month by scoring around 72 at the World Team Trophy, her personal best. I think she has a shot at the Olympic team, if she can repeat the excellent performance in Tokyo throughout the next season.

Again??! I was kind of hoping Lena would get some events she hasn't been to...so she can have a chance at winning all 6. ;)

CoC looks like a bloodbath--Daleman and the 3 young Japanese girls, AND Zagitova. :drama: If Lena's going to have any chance of medaling there, she's going to have to skate perfectly AND have an awesome free program. If she has a great program, then I think that there's a chance that she can sell it enough that the judges will boost her PCS. Otherwise it's going to be very tough. :eek:

I do find it *VERY* interesting that Lena got picked for Rostelecom though. :agree: To me, that means that the Russian Fed is trying to push her, because she will benefit from the home advantage. If she can skate clean, I totally expect her to mark new personal bests (like she did at each of the past two Rostelecoms). :yes:

So she better work super hard and take advantage of this opportunity they are giving her!! :yes: No more debutante balls on the night before the competition!! :biggrin:

ETA Well the only good thing about Lena going to CoC is that she's probably used to the arena and the whole travel/jet lag experience. That might help her.

I don't really know what to think about the Russian Fed, I mean seriously, one GP with Medvedeva and another with Zagitova. Chances of getting into GPF are slim with bloodbath in both events.

I don't think it's that slim, but definitely a tougher competition than last year. The rising seniors (Marin, Alina, Polina) have lots of potential and could do quite well. I think Elena has a good shot of getting second in both GPs if she skates her best. I wish I could say she may even get 1st, but I don't see her placing above Medvedeva who is solid as a rock, or Alina with her back-loaded programs. Of course, Alina could also mess up, but she *seems* pretty solid. I do think it's interesting that Evgenia and Alina never go head to head, and Elena and Maria never go head to head in the GPs. May just be coincidence though.

I soo hope she has good programs for this coming season though! Porgy and Bess is OK- she performs it well, but the music is really not my favorite. Hopefully I will love her FS!

ETA- I am sad she did not get Skate America. My only chance to see her next season!

I tried to zoom in, but I can't tell. To me it just looks like an effect of the bad resolution... :unsure:
On the Russian forums, are they speculating about a ring? And who gave it to her?? :confused:
