Some layout talk for perspective:

4Lo 4S3T // 3A - 49.75 BV (2016-2017 layout)
4Lo // 3A 4T3T - 51.01 BV (as attempted at FaOI)
4Lz // 3A 4T3T - 52.61 BV

Nathan's SP: 4Lz3T 4F // 3A - 53.15 BV
Shoma's SP: 4Lo 4F3T // 3A - 51.55 BV
Boyang's SP: 4Lz3T 3A // 4T - 51.33 BV
Patrick's SP: 4T3T 4S // 3A - 48.05 BV
Javi'S SP: 4T3T 4S // 3A - 47.75 BV

Note: These layouts are assumed, but may change (Nathan and Shoma can still change their combos to second half, Boyang could change the 4T for 4S or do 4T3T in second half too)

I must say I'm disappointed. "Chopin", again for the THIRD time. Really? We've already seen 3 perfect "Chopins". Hopefully he'll at least do a new FS. I love Hanyu but I fear this decision will come back to haunt him. The judges and spectators want to see new things. I'm not a fan recycled programs.
I don't like recycled programs too, but I don't think it will be a problem. Judges can also be the conservative type, so I don't think they'll care much. And even less if his SP is built differently like it seems to be.

I do now hope his FS will be some amazing and epic non-warhorse to make up for the repeat Chopin, at least in the judges eyes if that's where the issue may lie.

There is no point in trying 4lz, 51 BV is more than enough. This program is masterpiece and quality of everything in it

I'm not happy about him bringing Chopin back again for a THIRD SEASON! Unless he brings a 4 Lutz there is no excitement there for me. Oh the other hand, I missed watching him perform it to perfection at Worlds last time, so he'd better make my bank-breaking Level A SP ticket worth it in Korea! :points:

I want Hanyu to have the best chance possible to win the Olys with two clean programs. If it means yet another season of Chopin then so be it.

i was hoping to hear about his new programs but didnt see this coming, cant say i am exicted but skaters are the ones putting up with everything whether its pressure, injury etc, so who am i to judge him, all i can do is support him on whatever he decides :agree::cheer:

Well I certainly didn't see that coming. But hopefully it will be for the best :)
What worries me is the 4T in the second half...I don't want him to get injured again.

Let's think of it this way: Yuzu used PW again when we saw perfect performances from it already. Look what happened the next season  So although we have seen Chopin perfect 3 times already, maybe there is still more to perfect!

Samantha Cesario has done Carmen 4 seasons in a row, so Yuzu with his 3 Chopin in 4 seasons won't be too bad.

Rostelecom Cup and NHK Trophy - the Olympic season is sure different. Of course, I would have preferred a new SP but nevertheless I'm looking forward to Chopin.

How a lot of news!!!!:drama: NHK and CoR, and Chopin 3. Too tired to think if I like the idea of Chopin again :slink:, who knows

Echoing the majority of sentiments so far, I was a tad disappointed only because I want to see a new SP; however I do think it is a good strategic move as far as the Olympics is concerned.

Happy news for those who will be able to travel to Russia to see him though!

:luv17:

I've recovered from the shock of returning Chopin already, I know I am an easy fan but surprisingly the program still looks fresh and gorgeous to me (because of a year of absence?). This morning, I asked my mother about Yuzuru's decision (she loves watching figure skating on TV) and she said "that's good choice!" and she wants now Seimei as LP  It's always interesting to hear the opinions from casual viewers. Now I'm looking forward to the new costume and information of LP!!

And I'm very happy for the fans in Russia, congratulations :yes2:

I posted my opinion on Planet Hanyu already but I will do it here again.

I don't get why Yuzu needs to satisfy all his fans' expectations. Also, I do believe judges will try to hold him down anyway if they want to even Yuzu has a new great program. (like they did with Yuna)
He can still upgrade his technical difficulty without worrying much about choreography and interpretation though. He needs two programs he does feel comfortable and connected with to skate to. Olympics is not easy and he knows it better than anyone else.

Since ladies event @ WTT 2017, I think he is now well-aware that consistency is the key. What is the point of having new programs but you cannot deliver or execute them with the highest quality? Remember he will enter the Olympics as a defending champion and the amount of pressure will be 100x huge than usual. It would be really tough to skate to programs he does not feel right. What matters most is he delivers two perfect programs. That's all.
