Now c/p will have significant advantage being world bronze medalists! So now not only do they have North American training and tech and programs they are world medalists!
Well yes Russia must change everything about how it does dance to be Win worlds and Olympics again! It must adopt North American Styles and tech methods. The Italian system is just North American in Italy! That's why powers of ice dance now is North America, Italy and then Russia. Russia has fallen behind drastically and dramatically which is why c/p medaled and s/s and s/a didn't! Even if c/p didn't medal the other frontrunner was North American. Even though American champions had big mistake and mess of a lift they still beat the Russian team l/d which everyone assumes will break up before the new season even starts!Yes, they are. They're very good. But that has nothing to do with the quality of Russian ice dance. The sport is more international than it has been in the past. The competition is much deeper than it ever was prior to the current millenium. And Carreira & Ponomarenko are only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to 2nd generation Russian-American ice dancers emerging on the U.S. dance scene.
All that said, I do think that Russia might benefit from more international exchange between their dance coaches and the coaches in North America. (I know there are already some, though we don't hear about it). Italy seems to me to be setting themselves up to become a European ice dance hub, with Fusar-Poli, Margaglio, and Scali all having worked or working under top international coaches (more than one, generally) and gaining a wider perspective. Italian athletes have trained under Russian coaches and coached under North American coaches. It's to Italy's benefit in the long game, I think. The current generation of Russian dance coaches has definitely rebuilt from the exodus in the 1990's; but there is still room to grow & it would be great to see some of these Russian coaches/teams striving to set new standards within the sport.

I always love reading gymers posts, always so moderate and never over the top or extreme
You remind me of my racist mysogynist ex-colleague who declared that he dated a black woman once, who stole his wallet. So he concluded that all black women were thieves!!
Which Russian team do you think will break up before the next season starts? Surely not B/S?
Why did we just go there? Even gmyers ain't going there. Come on man, let's not do this. We be well brought up civilized even.
Whoops sorry over stepped the mark again. Need to cut back on the Ricard
Yup. There are also whispers that their coach is Ilinykh. Bagin is also skating with Anabelle Morozov. Ilinykh did some work with them recently. Secret wish, Shibnev skates with Ilinykh. He isn't really a good match with Mrs. Morozov. IMHO, that is.![]()
Why disturbing? C/P will be in the running for the Jr World title next season and are very talented. Carreira is improving year by year and Anthony is already great and is the son of two legends in ice dancing. I see this team making some noise in Seniors in just 2-3 years if things continue upward.
I heard Mrs Morozov is more interested in her blog than skating, in fact I'm not sure she is still skating.
Elena looks to be in good shape, so maybe Shibnev would be interested?
But how would his back handle the lifts and spins?
Shibnev is the worst Russian ice dancer I've ever seen...
It could just happen. Zhulin just finalized the SD for B/S, S/K's was done I believe before they went on vacation. B/S still haven't finished their FD. What? The Shibs have already shown theirs. V/M look to be on fire. Why did B/S go to team trophy?
They got some money but they lost time and performed poorly. Bobrova has been having a mini mental breakdown regarding SD music for at least two months, its finally been resolved. She seems a bit tense lately in her instagram posts, I call this the Katsalapov effect. Deputat hinted slyly on her instagram what she could do to him, haha. The Shibs just ignored him and went about working often outside of their rink. I really hope that things are going smoother than they appear. Ridiculous. S/B could actually just leap frog them both due to the absence of DRAMA. :hslap: Please Loboda and Drozd, bring it. And yes Elena, please pretty please get yourself a new partner. Gracias.
ooh tell me more about what Deputat hinted?![]()
Yea, if S/B can make programs like the smoking black and white photos they done recently, they could easily be No. 1 in Russia.
I think Zhulin spreading himself too thin with 2 top Russian teams and the Spanish team. I fear it will all be very mediocre.
I also heard reliable rumours that the problems S/K had in the US are still problem. So hoping Zhulin is not bitten off more than he could chew.
That's really sort of sad. But B/S better dig deep if they want to have a decent showing next season.
I fear it will be the same old dramatic stuff.
I hope the Russian fed tells them to go back to Anna Karenina for the Olympics, that was a good FD
