2017 Minto Summer Skate

I notice that the 2 winners from last year junior nationals compete one (Stephen Gogolev) for seniors, although he is way too young, and the other one (Aurora Cotop) continues to compete in juniors. Is it a rule, or it's optional? Why Aurora doesn't compete with seniors?

no rule.. stephen just has no incentive competing in juniors as he cannot even do JGP... but Aurora still can... I think

Skate Canada changed the rules I think last season (?) -someone correct me if I'm wrong such that if you win Junior Championships that you *could* stay and compete Junior again. Previously, it was mandatory that you move up. ie. Nam won when he was 12 but had to move up, but Stephen could have stayed down in Junior but he's at the development where you need to be challenged -especially when you can't do internationals yet. He certainly has the jump ability; stands to reason to watch his physical growth development over coming few years and how it stands up to the demands of the sport.

Thank you all for your replies. I thought it was still mandatory, but if it's just up to the skater it's much better and it makes sense. At least Aurora, when she won the junior title said her next target was getting a consistent 3Lz. I don't know what happened in the mean time. Hope she is OK.

Who are the Pairs team of Sara Jane Dana / David-Alexandre Paradis, and why are they competing for S. Korea?

I noticed that Gabrielle's brother Zachary have moved to pairs. I wonder if he still skates for singles. I think this is a good move for men who don't want to venture into big quads. Pairs have even more dangerous skills, but if you are rather tall (men) it looks like a better choice.

Zach is paired with last year's Junior Ladies bronze medalist! It should make for a strong team!

Live stream is running on the 3 main rinks Canadian Tire, ScotiaBank and HEO [not Potvin which is mainly STARSkate].

The pre-juvenile women's flights are competing now on Scotiabank and the livestream is quite clear and in full HD.

Here is the link to the page with the 3 live stream boxes....

The page doesn't always load beautifully, but hit the play button and the feed will come nicely, with the option to go to full screen. And you will need full screen to see the full view without feet cut off from what I've seen...

Be advised that there will be no archiving....so it sounds as though folks will need to record the skates they wish, or look for other to do so and post.

I am trying to watch pre novice (canadian tire rink), and the video and sound are different....I reloaded the page a few times...I didn't have the same problem with the other rink (Scotiabank)

I don't know if someone can help me. It was a skater in pre-novice (I know they are a so many) that got a good score and was first for some time. She stared and finished the program with a shhh (silent sign). She was very good in expressing music. I don't know her name. She skated on Scotia bank rink around 5 o'clock.

The skater you are speaking of is Alexa Mateev. Super talented and still an infant in skates.

Wow, thank you so much! Yes, I think she is so talented. I am so happy I found her name!
