We will know her early condition soon by the time of Japan Open. I don't have high hope for her though.

Although I'd like to see her expand her music choices a bit, at least she is sticking to a style she does well.

I agree, I was hoping for her to expand her style and try something new but I guess its a smart choice for the Olympic season to stick with what you're good at.
I miss this Gracie that attacked her jumps with abandon and had huge speed across the ice. That is why people were so high on her at the time. She looked Junior with her programs and was unpolished but her speed jumps and skating skills were already better then 90% of the top US Ladies at the time and she probably would have finished in the top 3 or 4 that year if she had skated as a Senior just because of her technical ability.

I just saw a clip of Courtney Hicks from Skate Detroit. Can anyone tell me if her opening Combo is a planned 3/3. She popped the second jump here but, the rest of her program was quite good. She is quite fast across the ice and her edge quality is very good. Her spins have really improved and she has a much softer quality about her this year..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMl8ubMvStQ

wow, i'm actually really impressed by this. her artistry and general skating have REALLY improved! her jumps also seem a bit more in control. not sure if we should count her out as a contender now!

Well, as a young skater, she is really taking a risky path going into next season. Especially with Carmen...Has her team forgotten the battle of the Carmen's? Both of those choices are very unoriginal and with her youth and talent, I wish she had gone with music that she could make "Her Own." It will be unavoidable for her to escape being compared to the vast number of skaters who have used Carmen. I hope that made sense.....

Well Mirai Nagasu did Carmen for her FS on her debut on the Olympics and she did well.
Two ladies? I wonder which country decided not to go. Will Australia is far for some smaller Feds, so I can see why it may have been tough send someone.
Good call sending Kaitlyn early. She's only done one competition so far but her TES score for her long was 67 with a fall! So I'm expecting a good showing for her. As for Ting, she looks amazing in practice. Her first competition wasn't perfect, but with some experience I think she can do well.
Both of these girls will be competing again. Ting is competing this weekend and Kaitlyn next week. Hope that helps them work the bugs out before Australia.

Yes she did. However, it took the skate of her life to make it happen. Karen, with her 4th place finish at Worlds, is in a much better position than Mirai was back in 2010. Remember, Rachael Flatt was the US Champion that year and Mirai had much less pressure on her. Karen's "On Golden Pond" SP was original, well choreographed, and made her stand out from the rest of the pack. As the reigning Champion, I just wish she was doing something a bit more original.

Exactly.. Look, if Karen were the US #2 skater, she could get away with using those old standards just by having a clean skate. Love her or not, Evgenia took a "Risk" with her LP and it paid off in spades. I'm not trying to knock Karen and hopefully her programs will be choreographed in a way that gives them an original feel. We'll soon see how judges feel about her new programs.
Yes, 3-3; she usually attempts triple loop for the second triple. As for improvement, credit her switch last year to Todd Sand & Jenni Meno. Every aspect is better!

She has the potential to be very good but, like many of our talented women, Courtney is usually unable to bring her best at Nationals. She is capable of doing great 3-3T combinations, so I'm not sure why she's been trying these 3-3Lo combos since last season's Nationals. She wasn't doing those well in the practices there, either.
