^^^The finger wag is everything. Love it! :clapper:

Yes! He's showing his playful streak.:cool14:

Thank you. Reading the last few pages is sad. I wish Americans wouldn't tear down their skaters so much, especially young ones like Vincent coming fresh out of juniors. I like that about the Japanese and Canadians that generally, they are nice and cheer their skaters on.

You and me both.

:2thumbs:

Perhaps I would be more inclined to be less critical if the fans of these "young hotshots" didn't immediately barge in and proclaim that all the other US men should be thrown on the trash heap as soon as either young hotshot showed as much as a skerrick of form!

I've never seen anyone but you use that phrase. Much less "barge in" and "proclaim."

Thanks, El. If you hear anything, holler at me!

Jozet on FSU is reporting that Andrew T. is indeed listed to be at Philly International.:drama:

https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/th...onal-august-3-6-aston-pa.101538/#post-5102585

The line-up sounds too good to be true (for me): Timmy D., Alexei K., Alex Johnson

*And* Jordan Moeller *and* Max:shocked: And Sean Rabbitt?????

and oh yeah, Vincent Zhou. But back when all I knew was Vincent, I'm sorry, I'm not driving down for him.

But all those others? At the *Philly* comp? All of a sudden, 80 miles is looking do-able....;)

Enough of this indecision, El. I demand that you go! Oh, I wish I could go, too. That is an excellent lineup!

You owe us all a detailed report on everyone. I'm sure GoldenSkater agrees with me that you have no choice in this matter.

I know you're not a particular Vincent fan, but I appreciate what I've seen, so I hope you'll include him in your mandatory report. It will be interesting to see if he can follow-up on his Detroit performances.

I can't see the link.

Hmmm, I don't know why, I just clicked on it.

Although if you are *not* a paying member of FSU (like me), you can't be logged in. It's private if you're logged in, but not if you're "just visiting". very strange....

I'm not a paying member, and I saw the link just fine.

Not the place to discuss because it's a men's thread, but the entry list for Senior Ladies is pretty impressive, too.

Thanks for the tip. I logged out and saw this outstanding line up! You HAVE to go! I live in Nc, and I'm close to getting on I95 going myself! To bad my hips can't take it.

This is amazing. The last time they did this event the line up wasn't close to being this good! I guess USFS wants their teams to be as prepared as possible.

Wait, WHAT?! MAX IS GOING TO BE AT PHILLY? And Brooklee too!

Oh, el henry, I hope you get to go!

Thanks for the alerts.

FWIW, the U.S. men listed on the event site's schedule are:

5:05PM-5:35PM Senior Men SP Practice 1-5 Azerbaijan, Hong Kong, Korea, Croatia, Mexico

5:50PM-6:20PM Senior Men SP Practice 6-10 Ukraine, Philippines, Aaron, Dolensky, Krasnozhon

ETA (on Jul 31), update:
The listing above has been changed to:
5:50PM-6:20PM Senior Men SP Practice 6-10 Ukraine, Torgashev, Aaron, Dolensky, Krasnozhon

6:20PM-6:55PM Senior Men SP Practice 11-16 Moeller, Johnson, Rabbitt, Zhou, Pulkinen

http://iceworkssc.org/psic/files/2017PSICTentativeSchedule.pdf

I do not see Torgashev's name on this document.
But who knows, possibly an accidental omission??? One would expect six names to be listed for 11-16, and only five are.

(Senior Men also is one of the listings on the drop-down menu under the Schedule tab on the event site, but the listings for Senior Ladies and Senior Men are not clickable for me.)

ETA (as of Jul 28), update:

The Senior Men listing on the PSIC drop-down menu now is clickable for me.
The document also is available at this link:

Happy to say that Torgashev *is* listed there.
So I guess his omission from the schedule PDF was accidental??

Go, Max :yay:.

ETA:
Caveat that the day/dates on the schedule are garbled. For example, it refers to Thursday, August 4, 2017, which does not exist -- not clear whether it means Thursday, August 3, or Friday, August 4. My *guess* is the former, based on the schedule for the companion event Philadelphia Summer Championships.

ETA (as of Jul 28), update:
The day/date garbling has been fixed on the schedule PDF. Good job :).

ETA:

FWIW, ProEventPhoto is selling passes to live-streaming of the companion event "Philadelphia Summer Invitational."

The Philadelphia Summer International site at least *implies* that the streaming will include the International competition. (Disclaimer: I obviously am *not* guaranteeing streaming of the International segments. Just making an observation.)

BTW, the link above has a discount code ("not valid after 12pm July 30th").

Philadelphia looks to be amazing this year in all disciplines - I so wish I lived close enough to attend.

One thing I'm really curious about is strategy: why does Kori have Jordan competing at Philadelphia and Jason at Glacier Falls? Why are so many skaters based on the West Coast / in Colorado competing here instead of at Glacier Falls, where many of them normally compete? Why is Sean Rabbitt listed for both? Is there something about the judging panel in Philadelphia, say, that is drawing lots of skaters there this year? Is it th dates or just coincidence?

El henry, you know that a second group of men - including Scott Dyer and Daisuke Murakami - is competing in a different part of the competition, right? Just think, if you go to that part, too, you can watch Frank Carroll at the boards. ;)

Probably they want some feedback from an international judging panel is my guess.

Maybe she wants Jordan to get to compete without Jason there? I mean he has kinda skated in Jason's shadow a long time and they do appear to be very close. Psychologically, it might be better for Jordan to get to enter the comp without thinking in terms of "I would need to beat Jason to win" as that is kinda a heavy monkey on your back to try to skate with. I don't mean this in a catty way...just that Jordan likely sees Jason practice alot, and knows what he can do and what he can score and frankly can do math. To be blunt I suspect it is easier for him to "visualize" wining when it does not involve visualizing beating Jason.

It also might help get Jordan more used to being out of his element to not have his buddy there. I do think they are genuinely close. They roomed together at a Senior B recently when USFSA usually has cross discipline roommates. In fact my first ever glimpse of Jason in real life was at the Broadmore jump event two years ago while Jordan was competing. As soon as Jordan's group was on the ice, Jason appeared in the wings cheering, and as soon as Jordan was done, he disappeared back into the bowls of the arena. It sure looked liked Jason came out of the woodwork just to see Jordan compete. But all the same, I can see how a coach may want a skater in Jordan's position to compete in some summer events without their more well known and successful buddy there. It is a different mindset, and likely one you do want to practice with. It might be good to compete without knowing so much about one of the top skaters practice habits.

I just don't think it is that strange... i mean this way she can devote more attention to each of them. This method has its place.

I suspect the international panel also has something to do with it.

I'm sure that's the case and it's quite common for a coach who has more than 1 skater in the same category. I don't really know Jordan but, if he's a Senior skater, he has a better chance at winning a medal without Jason in the field. After Skate America, the US skaters tend to spread out all over the globe giving them a chance to compete against top skaters that they will face should they make the World Team.

I agree. el henry should go! :hap10:

I would offer to go and report back, but A.) I don't think I could give as detailed a report. and B.) We are at State Games next week.

Glacier Falls is comparable to the Philadelphia Summer Championship. Both of those are USFS events. Both are normal summer club competitions but tend to have a big draw. The IJS events start on Aug 2 and end on Aug 5.

Philadelphia International Summer Competition is an "Internatinal" event where the Federal enters the skater. Those events start on Aug 3 and end on Aug 6.

What makes it confusing is both Philladelphia events are being held at the same venue on the same weekend. And some skatere are competing in both Philadelphia competition.

Thanks so much for the info - it is confusing! I didn't realize the difference, but now that I see the difference in the judging panels and realize that skaters who need minimum scores can earn them at the international comp, it makes total sense, especially in an Olympic year.

Also, in thinking about Jason/Jordan, it occurred to me that at Skate Milwaukee, Jordan was much farther along with his programs than Jason, who deliberately doubled all the jumps in his FS because the choreo was brand new. Jordan also has far less international experience. So I think he, Vincent, Max, and others will probably benefit a lot from the international competition, whereas for Jason it might be premature.

Thanks again!

OK, OK, ....I think I'm pretty much there:agree: that line-up is just amazing to me for this comp; I was expecting only Dice Murakami and Scott Dyer, and now this? I mean, when I was trying to scope it out earlier, I saw Kori's name in the drop down list of coaches for registration, but that was one long huge list and I though they just had everyone there, like scrolling through the states when filling out an online form for your address.

(And it would make more sense if Rohene came, maybe, since Deanna and Nate are skating as well????)

Aston is pretty much not near anything however (and much closer to Wilmington DE than Philadelphia, but Wilmington International doesn't have the same ring:biggrin:) so I'm just showing up for the men. And my video "skills" make Jason's IG fancam look like Steven Spielberg, so that's not happening either:laugh:

I am so glad for you! And, I'm a little jealous, truth be told.

So, you'll be giving us a report, too? I'll be lenient on grading, I promise, dear friend!

My daughter and I will be there. I am curious how our "takes" will be different since she is the skater and I am "just" the fan who cannot tell one jump from another.
