2017-18 State of U.S. Ladies Skating

Since a Bradie won again, against some tough competition, I think SA is hers now. I thought a Angela had a good chance at it too, but she's the most prepared for the new season. We'll see for sure when the take the group photo at Champ Camp.

Bradie and Angela were neck to neck.
It will be interesting to see who gets the spot.

Amber had some really great jumps but could not deliver the whole program. Boy can that girl sell when she is on!

Starr still needs alot pf polish but her jumps were beautiful.

Bradie Tennell appears to be about 6 feet tall on the ice, with legs like a chorus girl. Wow! I can remember her when she was a tiny little girl with white-blonde hair at 2013 Nationals, winning her first Nationals medal (a bronze) as a Novice.

When is Champs Camp? Next month?

So do I. I haven't seen her this year but, she has always been on my radar. After Tim's big win today, I think we might be in for some surprises this season.

Good on both Bradie and Angela for putting out clean SPs and non-disaster LPs.

So Starr went for a 3A? I'm glad we've got someone training it, even if they aren't there yet. Plus she did a 3-3-2 in the second half. GOOD!

Tessa was a disaster. Yikes. Wonder what's going on there? Anyone know?

I adore Amber Glenn. I really do. Sad she didn't skate better, but no major red flags from her.

I'm no big Bradie fan - her skating is bland and at 19, it's not as if she's going to be the ~future~ of US ladies skating. But I think her pre-season has proved that she deserves that SA spot over anyone else. Could she sneak onto the Olympic team? Potentially, if enough others have meltdowns. It's a shame she never moved to a top-level coach.

Tessa hasn't been a consistent skater in a long time. Since she went to Tom actually. She had problems with under rotations and downgrades. That's because she has had Osgood Schlatter and other injuries. She does have a lot of potential. Occasionally she does put it all together. It's just not every time. I hope Frank could help stabilize her but I don't see it yet. It's just gonna take some time.

Tessa is being hyped right now because she's with Frank Carol at because of her Short program at nationals. But she still needs a lot of work. Before we write her off, let's just be patient and let Frank work his magic maybe by nationals she should be a completely different skater.

Ahhhh I totally forgot about her Osgood Schlatter. I hope it doesn't prevent her from reaching her full potential, but I won't be surprised if it does.

Osgood Schlatter held Nathan Chen back for about two years, but it only made him more determined to succeed.

But Nathan didn't have to deal with the puberty bug, and looking at Tessa, she seems a lot taller and more 'filled out' than she did last year. This will probably not be her year to shine.

No videos of the competition yet. But based on the discussion, I think more likely Tessa won't survive her growth. She didn't have good jumps to start with, and with Osgood Schlatter and injuries, her chances are really slim. Her Mom does not look tiny nor slim at all, so there is genetics to partially predict her future figure.

thought I read somewhere in this thread haley beavers was competing senior short at philly? anyone know what happened there?

I'm hoping some of the US ladies' videos show up on Youtube. I've seen quite a few of the Sr. men's event (Max, Tim, Alexei, etc) - they seem to have stolen the show.

I would love to see Angela and Bradie's programs.

I haven't tracked down the detailed International competition results yet (though we've seen the basic scores from several sources)
