Nathan Chen

Did you see the clip of Ashley from Champs Camp? There's music playing in the background that's been rumored to be Nathan's but nobody knows what it is. The clip is somewhere in this thread. But it's definitely slow and classical.

Yes, I had seen those clips. But it's just rumored that this is his music. It's not for sure.

I think the consensus was that it was from "The Mission" but I don't recall if even that was confirmed.

If it is his music, then it isn't one of the more tired recognizable warhorses, and that's good.

The Mission? The same music that Mai Mihara is using?

I shouldn't get ahead of myself, but I couldn't resist making that connection. :)

I keep wondering if that's supposed to be a quad. Because that's such a short entry.
I wondered about that too because in both clips he only did a triple and like you said the short entry and it also appears to be placed in a later part of the program (if the sun valley clip is indicative of his actual layout he's doing the 3A first). But it doesn't really make sense for him to do a 3L either way as he has other hard jumps in his arsenal even if he doesn't want to do the 4L and I'm thinking he could really be planning a very ambitious layout by backloading the quads. I also wonder if he's opting to do 4F-3T instead of 4L-3T because he wants to incorporate a more difficult entry and exit on the solo 4L to max out the GOEs. It's possible that the lutz jump comes more easily for him than the flip and hence easier for him to add transitions to the lutz rather than the flip.

I was wondering too why it wasn't a quad - but I'm not sure how he practices his programs, so we'll see what the layout is tomorrow hopefully if some people have practice reports. :)

Very smart. He's already had lots of practice landing all his quads last season so he can just slowly ease into them this season.

With one or two quads, it's like an exhibition program for him.

Oh, Raf. You never fail to amuse (or scare) me with your statements sometimes.
But I like what he said at the last part though. :)
But anyway, I'm glad that he's pacing himself slowly this time.
And I can't wait to see his new programs - if I can manage find a link to watch, that is. :slink:

Andrew Dodds replied to someone on Twitter saying that Nathan did his full Sp with the backloaded quads at practice today, he was replying to someone who said that the BV will be increased by a little over two points with the change.

^sheetz, would you be able to translate some of their tweets regarding Nathan? This is literally the first time we get to find out how training has been going for Nathan this summer :)

Yeah, I was waiting for more info. So far I know he did his short and landed 4Lz-3T in the second half.
