Ashley Wagner

Ashley did an AMA a few days ago:

^^^ :thank: for this link! I'd forgotten that Ashley was scheduled to do this. I don't keep up with things that well, so I really appreciate these reminders.

Awesome answers from Ashley. What comes through is her honesty.

My favorite: she was asked how she deals with negative comments. Her answer, after saying "obviously, not everyone will love me" ...

"I'm just myself take it or leave it and if you don't like it thats totally fine! If you feel like you need to go out of your way to let me know you don't like it, well, idk, go get a life!"

Here's a cool new clip on Ashley's instagram, of Ashley doing combination spin with glorious positions (some of my favorites) and speed. It sounds like it may be Mariah's West Side Story music playing. What's impressive to me is that she's spinning on the beat of the music. The B.Esp guys mentioned in one of Ashley's skates last year how cool it was that she was doing that.

This little clip reminds me of how entranced I was by Jason when I first saw him, skating and boogie-ing to everyone else's music during practices. It really shows Ashley's talent and musicality.

Is Ashley going back to Moulin rouge? I had seen some speculation but can't find anything definitive about it.

There's been no announcement, so that means as of now, the announcement way back when of La La Land still stands. The speculation was from a TSL tweet that she didn't skate LLL at Champs Camp.

The fact that Ashley and her team are silent leads me to think they're working very hard on LLL and evaluating whether it's going to be best to go ahead with it or reprise MR. Either way, I have a feeling she'll be brilliant by the time she competes.:hap10::hap93:

Per Icenetwork, Ashley LP is listed as Moulin Rouge.

Well, I for one am pleased and relieved to hear something one way or another. I support Ashley 110 percent in this decision! It's gonna be fabulous, I'm sure she'll make us see things and love things in Moulin Rouge that we never thought of before. Awesomeness on top of the previous awesomeness.

thanks for catching this information, RemyRose!

:luv17::love::luv17: So gorgeous! I can't wait to see the whole thing. And on the ice.:)

I find it interesting that she's working with Benji Schwimmer on freshening the choreo, perhaps he can bring a new perspective. Benji is not a skater, although he's done work for Adam last season.

There had to be a good reason why she's not doing LalaLand and going back to MR. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product on MR 3.0!

More info on the Long Program switch to Moulin Rouge. I suppose if your coach tells you to switch, it's probably for the best. Maybe she'll stick around another season or two and we'll eventually see LLL.

That is my hope. :) :hap93:

that is because I'm dumb and multitasking at work and included the wrong link. Here you go and I edited the original post.

Skylark if you wouldn't mind deleting that link from your reply :)

I had high hopes for LLL and feel like Ashley could express the music well. However, I trust her decision and ultimately she is the one that will need to live with it. I love the program and hope she can give it new life!

One of the most interesting statements for me is:

Skating to “Moulin Rouge” again last month, “made me feel like the athlete that I was at 2016 Worlds,"

Bruno Marcotte said in the GS interview posted today that a similar sentiment is what drove Duhamel/Radford and team to choose to reprise their Muse progrm. He said skating to it made them feel like they can win.

This after a whole year when they went through mental, emotional and physical struggles and had a dismal competitive season. Which, again, is very much like what Ashley went through last year.

So, I'm really looking forward to Moulin Rouge again! :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

Done. :)

In the article she said she is going to compete the new MR at a local competition before SC. Anyone want to venture to guess which competition that might be? I am in the area and would love to go. Found these on the USFSA Site:

09/29/2017 -7th Annual Southern California Interclub Invitational Series Final in Paramount Iceland, Paramount,

10/08/2017 -Skate SWP in Center Ice Arena 201 S. Plum Ave Ontario, California 91761

10/11/2017 2018 Southwest Pacific Regional Figure Skating Championships in Ontario, California

OMG, temadd! I hope you can find out, and then go! Represent all of us, and wish Ashley luck for all of us.:yahoo: And then, of course, share with us your impressions. :)

The first one might be likely if she wants early feedback, to have almost a month to get any changes "set." But if she basically wants any early experience of competing for the season, then any of them would work.

I haven't seen the skating butterfly around here in a long time, but I know that she follows Ashley, lives in the area, and sees her at rinks locally. She might have a guess. Maybe she still checks the site and would see it if you PM her.

Thanks for the advice! And I will definitely let you all know if I see it.
