Nathan Chen

The Japanesefanclub said, DONOT share.
I posted link on GS forum US men's thread and OG men's thread other than Nathan's fan thread here, does this count as sharing?

I think they mean to not upload it elsewhere. It should be fine to post the link to the original.

love his SP and he performed it like he never did before, so intense and in control :luv17: love to see it with all the quads :dance3:

It looks Nathan needs to step up his game very soon. If his component score stays 10 points lower than Javier, how many more quads he has to out jump others to get on that podium? Not sure who in his team oversees his artistic execution of choreograph, posture etc., don’t think it is Raf, didn't Nadia have newborn baby? Will some follow up with Lori and Shae-Lynn be realistic? This season is going to be gone by fast..

Unlike TES, PCS is capped. Nathan's scores will continue to rise, especially if he has a very clean grand prix like last season. He is already packaged a LOT better than last year. His scores will get there in time for the Olympics.

Also I didn't agree with the PCS scoring at Japan Open anyway. That wasn't his best skate but I don't think he deserved to be 10 points below Javi - not with that program anyway. There's nothing wrong with his posture or choreography - I actually find him to be better than Javi in several cateogories. But I think to create a better overal impression which leads to an overall PCS boost he does need to skate faster, more powerfully with more command. We know he CAN do all that, but being able to combine what he can really do presentation-wise with his technical elements is the real challenge.

It is just Japan Open where no one takes it seriously (but the money is good). His PCS will go up as the season goes. I am 100 percent sure about it.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist. Except some of the time.

I think the Nathan's lowball PCS had a lot more to do with keeping it close with Shoma than keeping it close with Javi.

Japan Open is a made-for-TV fanfest extravaganza, and it wouldn't be happy-time if the hometown favorite were blown out.

But, hey. It's all good.

Unfortunately, their efforts in putting Chen down didn’t work that well. Ha... I do think his programs have more originality than the other guys at Japan Open.

Nathan's first official practice is tomorrow at 10:30am local time. He is in Group 1 along with Yuzuru, Grant, Deniss V, and Misha Ge.

On Japanese TV Nobunari Oda gets really excited about the upcoming quad battle.

Nathan says his gymnastics training helped him with his jumps. There's video from a SLC gymnastics training center but I don't think that's actually Nathan being shown in the tumbling pass.

Fun stuff:
USFS has released a set of GIFs featuring Team USA. A few are meme-worthy.

A talented fan has drawn a cartoon of Nathan dressed as a ghost trying to scare Yuzuru, Shoma, and Boyang. They immediately recognize him due to the shape of his hair/head.

Yeah, I think he has to stick with that layout now to get comfortable with it by Nats and Olympics - I'm kind of expecting a messy GP season from him (but so was last season's) which is fine, but I'd like him to make the GPF so I don't want it to be too TOO messy! He did hit the jumps that he missed at JO though (4s and 4f!)

I wanna thank's every Nathan fans especially Nathan's Japanese fan club for went thru all the troubles and give us precious practice/live repo and videos of Nathan.
These materials are really appreciated and precious. Thank you.
According to all the repo I can gather on social media.
It seems like Nathan has pretty decent successful rate on all his quads, But he can bomb any one of them randomly.
It seems there is no his most or least consistent quad at the moment.
I guess maybe that is the reason he is swap around his lay-put. depends how he feels on the day.
I personally think it is not a good strategy for consistency.

But Nathan has a huge mountain to climb. he is the ONLY that is doing 5 DIFFERENT kinds of quads. That is in default a task asking for inconsistency.

I have a mixed gutting feeling about this, don't know what to say.

it seems Nathan lowered his BV by doing 5 different kinds of quad + 2 3As instead of 6 quads.
and he will do 4lz-3t as his opening combo, not put it in the second half any more
All indicates he is not feeling his 4LZ at the moments, and have a better grasp of his 3A ironically
