anyway

now i'm going to ip-hopping to watch as many version of chen's perfomance as i can :yay:

Absolutely love the SP. Also, since when are quad lutzes a thing? I feel like everytime I take a small hiatus from keeping up with FS news, something new pops up.

Ha. Brandon Mroz landed it years ago but it didn't catch on until Boyang and Nathan both landed it consistently last season. Now there are more men attempting 4Lz than there are ladies attempting 3A.

Here's an interview Raf gave to Russian media. It is more or less fully comprehensible using Google Translate.

I really enjoyed his SP even outside of the jumps, surprisingly enough(First time that happened watching Nathan) and his FS run-through looks very good too from what I saw in practice.

It'll be very good if I can have a second male skater I really enjoy watching in addition to Yuzuru.

You can watch Nathan's last runthrough before the FS here: https://www.pscp.tv/w/1rmGPOZbLEyKN

He only marked the jumps and it's soooo beautiful

You know a program is awesome when you can just watch the in betweens and get the feels. His choreographers earned their money this year. I think the free is so well constructed and satisfying. There are three distinct sections and a coda. The Rite of Spring footwork is genius at building tension and contrasting the film score. Then music resolves itself in a very triumphant way at the end as well so you're ready to jump out of your seat. Very smart for the Olympic season.

Nathan right after Yuzuru. with that FS performance, I thought his PCS will increase abit....
Still 88...
Nathan himself looked confused and frustrated.:palmf:

I really enjoyed both of his programs. Especially the Free Skate was wonderful. Looking forward to the next competition.

Congratulations to Nathan for his first Gold GP medal.:hap10: He had two wonderful skates, well deserved win!

I thought maybe Nathan was getting a little tired near the end? Good fight though. Now he has an entire month to get ready for Skate America.

I thought so too. They should have an oxygen tank ready for the men. They are so physically exhausted after expending so much bodily energy with their jumps.

Yes, congratulations. I love his LP! And I think he can hold it together under pressure. This certainly won't be his last gold! :hap10:

No it won't be his last Gold. He came in 2nd in the FS but got the win.I noticed that you picked Nathan for the win in prediction thread. You were right on!

I think beside tiring, he also has some issue with pacing himself, I think actually, maybe he is too excited, not calm enough.
you can tell he is going out of his way to interpret his final 2 spins, with hand flourishes to match music. You really need to find that perfect balance in terms of everything to be a TRUE champion.
Nathan still got a long way to go and to lean.
for now, it seems the judges is not gonna help him. so he can only depend on himself, step by step. it is gonna be a very difficult battle.
But I am very proud of what Nathan achieved today.
