I think we got your point first time you posted it  You don't like them or their dances, you said it with different words even more times than you mentioned how good Elena Ilinykh and her dances are. By the way, aren't you the one who liked their Queen SD, and then 'Frida' FD, and even their Bollywood 'FD'? Not blind, huh?

To be honest, I don't like their SD very much either. But this FD is probably their best FD ever. I find it extremely well build, GOE awarding, beautifully choreographed and aesthetically pleasing. Much more pleasing than, for example, last 4 Elena Ilinykh's free dances with different partners. The strange thing though is that I really liked her and Ruslan's secret garden 'Apassionata' FD, while many people disliked it for being null and void.

If I think back at the 3 FDs I/Z skated to, Appassionata was the one that was a good fit for both of them, although I did love Frida a lot. But nothing was as perfect for them as their Carmen Short Dance. Since the introduction of this format, there weren`t a lot of programs that I have enjoyed as much as I/Z`s Carmen.

Anyway, I also like B/S Free Dance, I have issues with their Short Dance, but tbh I haven`t discovered yet one Latin SD that I like 100%. Theirs is not a masterpiece, but it`s also not terrible and I think as long as they hit their elements they will be fine.

The Challenger in Minsk will also have Junior and Novice categories. Skoptsova/Aleshin and Shevchenko/Eremenko are entered, so this will be another interesting fight to follow next to the others we will see this weekend. Russia has entered 12 (!) teams in the novice category. The Fed definitely can`t complain about a lack of depth in Ice Dance. Who knows, maybe one of those baby ice dancers will be their next Olympic Champion

I don't know where you get the idea that teams like Coomes and Buckland or Gilles and Poirier could even factor against B/S. They will fight with S/B at most, and that's debatable, depending on how well they will compete. P/C and V/M are on a league of their own, that's not up to discussion. However, none of the other teams demonstrated being above the other technically this year, considering that C/B and C/L are yet to compete. If anything, B/S got more lvl 4 on the steps than the Shibs already - but then we're going to discuss things about the panel and whatever, so we'll leave it at that.

B/s were 8th in the sd at worlds this year! They are not a team to expect anything from as they can’t even win cup of Russia or even PCs in Russia! It’s the Olympic season. So many times I have read russia is putting all its politics in overdrive and are working feverishly now to increase all its teams scores. Well it’s a enormous failure as b/s are Olympic gold medalists and world bronze medalists didn’t even win cup of Russia.

Well if they had won with their botched spin, I'm pretty sure we'd have the end of the world right then. Some heads would just explode out of sheer rage, so you should be relieved that didn't happen. Besides that, they were a pretty sound team technically, if not the most. But you see what you want to see.

If you'd go by last worlds' results, two american teams shouldn't even factor as medal contenders, since they both were placed behind B/S, who were 8th in the SD - and to think that there are people here putting the third canadian team and the british team on the fight for the medals, that's just beyond me.

Please please someone explain about Nikita and Viki. Is it true? Is there proof???? Because I love them so much, among my favorite team, but if all that is true...

No danger at all of them getting to the Games, though. I actually think their federation favors S/B and B/S. Those 2 are going to the Olympics.

B/S fifth place at worlds caused peoples heads to explode out of rage! Why should russia care? If they wanted to fix cup of Russia just fix a victory! People are talking about fixing for second! Lol lol. The spin was level 2 but that doesn’t explain b/s losing PCs in Russia. They should have fixed PCs at all 9.75 and 10 and fixed the botched spin for level 3.

It is true because no one has ever explained anywhere s/k sudden move from zueva to Tchaikovskaya.

I don't know if this is serious of sarcastic, but it begs the question of why the Fed would push the TC to hand out level 4s for them in both programs, and then not make the judges put them over the Shibs in GOE and PCS - with such loss of points they still were fairly close, so again, whoever made this supposed deal people were talking about surely didn't get the best out of it.

In the end I consider it better than they didn't win. It should urge them to work more, and secure the levels they need. We'll have to wait and see what happens in China the next week.

He’s entitled to his opinion, but what does he mean that B/S were supposed to win? If he’s saying what I think he’s saying then the Shibs winning must sting a bit. Anyway, we know other skaters and coaches (even if their closest competitors) have spoken well of the Shib’s skills to make their win at Rostelecom at least understandable.

The translation is loose, but he did say "were supposed to". But then, I don't even know how much he's atuned to ID, and it's not like he's TAT, who shoots to whatever side she wants. Perhaps he was talking more in lines of both teams skating SDs with the same value technically, and it was indeed the judges that decided the Shibs were better in GOE and PCS. In the free the comparison doesn't work that well because B/S made mistakes, but the same happened with S/B and the Shibs - same BV, but the difference was made with PCS and GOE, and fairly so.

Since all the talk of Russian fixing especially by Carol lane is serious why wouldn't this? Why wouldn’t russia fix more effectively?

I think its admirable that B/S do try to do something different theme wise but it never seems to work out. Not only choreographically but performance wise as well and I think that's harmed and held them back quite a bit. Its been like that for a number of years you would think they would realize that by now. Especially after the 2014 Olympics where Bronze should have been theirs had it not been for their own self sabotage :confused2:

*ahem* let's not forget that Lena & Nika skated lights-out and were absolutely sensational. B/S were very, very good in Sochi, but skating after them, they paled in comparison.

It was a done deal until they messed up the spin. So hey what you gonna do? The fix is not in.

I can only imagine the uproar in here if they won even with the problem on the spin. Good thing they didn't, and the mishap should keep them on their toes moving forward. I just find a bit cheap to belittle their competition like this, but if Carol Lane can, why the others can't, right? :agree:

Puhlease, people have been scratching their heads about B/S for years now. Years. Even simple stroking for them is laboured, especially for Katya. Lane might be tactless but Charlie White's wife has been saying the same things about them for years, years, I tell you. Just go do the research. So the Russian fix isn't fake news, people are just sick of it, sick and tired of it.

B/S isn't the most outstanding technical team for sure. Neither are C/L, W/P, formerly P/B, with the like of whom B/S has been fighting for a bronze sometimes fourth place for years and years and years...Every time a technical team like Chock/Bates or the Shibs skate well B/S and C/L and W/P lose to them. Unfortunately Gilles/Poirier are not even within this range...I actually really like G/P. This makes me think maybe Carol Lane is not liked in the judges' community which reflects on their scores...

The spin was a level 2 so good fixers would have made all levels 4 with all +3 goe with 9.75 pcs and reduced scores for shibutania. Forget the free dance! Good fixers would have given bobrova and soloviev an insurmountable lead in the short dance. Something not even getting a level 2 for a spin in the free dance could damage. Why didn’t russia think of giving b/s any kind of lead in the short dance? Or how about finding a way to reject shibutanis visas?

This is the worst fixing of all time! Why not fix more than one world medal and a team gold medal. Why not all euro titles? They are Olympic gold medalists! Russia could have easily used that as a reason for their winning euros and worlds that they participated in.

I'm really scratching my head here. So, they are really the only team that's got some help from TPTB, right? Because before they came back on the scene the russian field was a vast expanse of nothingness. Oh well, there was a bronze at Euros from S/B, I guess. Some medals at GPs, which, really, isn't that much different from the results that B/S are getting now, so how it's only with them that this so-called fix exist?

Grasping at straws much? You don't like them, fine, but this it just a whole another level of delusion, which I was expecting from gmyers, but not you. Oh well, time to lower some expectations in here.
