Gabriella Papadakis & Guillaume Cizeron

i can breathe now. i was worried cause COC usually don't give high score especially in ice dance (like C/B score today) so when i saw that this year they had coc and not nhk i was worried . 81 in china!:yahoo:

Another thing to point out is that the camera distance is a lot "politer" than that at Skate Canada and other tournaments, so as a viewer you lose a lot of the facial performance elements.

Yes, the camera shots were much better at Finlandia which gave a more lively impression from their outing. But technically they were much more on point here and let's not forget how tough that tech panel was today, ouch B/S and C/B. So this is good news plus it all happened on a neutral ice dance territory. Only one level 3 on the non touching, a poster on FSU explained it was because one of Gaby's first twizzle was not perfect. So those 1.5 points can definitely be improved on.
I was so nervous, I couldn't even enjoy their skate but I've rewatch and it was really crisp. The PCS are also excellent meaning the judges are on board with this program. Such a confidence boost. Couldn't be happier for them.

I don't think you can lose a level for missing a double twizzle: I think you have to lose two? There was a discussion on it here recently, but I can't remember what the outcome was......... I did notice the that it wasn't the best twizzle, and also gabby goes to lift her hands at the end of non-touching and Guillaume doesn't, so I presume that was an error on one of their parts. But again, I don't think it would be why they lost a level: they must have missed another feature?

The twizzles were excellent (and I point out how different they are to the free skate ones);the partial step had been rechoreographed (as had the exit from the lift and the end sequence) and had a larger cleaner quality. I'm not a hundred percent on the choreographic changes, but I also understand, a, they don't have the choreographer on site for these, b, they are sometimes because of the suggestions of the judging panel, c, they are sometimes implemented to make sure technical features are achievable, d, they have only had about a week and a half for the all the changes for both the short and the free, e, they are flying much more than most other couples, so it will take them a little longer to get everything worked out.

But the best thing is the score and the level four on the partial step. If they get a level four on a step seq in the free and skate clean otherwise, they will have gotten the same number of level fours as V/M at Skate Canada, and their total score will be about the same as V/M there (and maybe even a new record total score). Plus it will have been achieved in China! Which is not home territory and a much more muted stadium than any other.

Am really hoping for all the best for tomorrow........

I hadn't even thought about that. With this SP a WR for combined score might just be possible. That would be quite the statement.

OMG !!!!I havent see it yet, but i was nervous checking the isu results. And I was shocked in a positive way of course. Congratulations!:luv17::gclap::yahoo::dance3::hap85::hap93:

Gabriella was on fire today:hap10: I love the changes they've made to this SD. It was amazing. And the score was absolutely deserved I think. Just WOW!:yahoo:

I wanted to hear his commentary exclusively because of the technical. I loved the Pst and thought it was so clean with good edges... and he seemed to agree (and so did the technical panel who put a level4). It was nice hearing him have all these compliments for G&G!
I can't wait for the free !

Great to hear Ben; he gave them real praise; and he was right about how great those edges were too. Plus, he has a good voice. I wonder if we will ever hear Gabi or Guillaume commentate in years when they finish competing (many, many years from now, I hope). I think their opinions would be very interesting.

In Finlandia trophy their short was good.
But today it was eaven better.
I just look it with my mouth open and i think i did not breathed at all in hole program.
:points:

I just saw it.

The softness of their skating is fabolous. They almost fly throu the ice. Gabriella yes, she had shaky twizzle in SSQ , if she hadnt , we would have almost 83.

They have been sensational today, I love this SD: class, elegant, it looks like them:luv17:. The pressure must be huge but they are great champions.
I wish them the best for tomorrow:cheer2:

Yeah Ben is an ideal commentator, both with his insight and his articulateness.

This change to the lift is nice but the lift itself still feel a bit rushed. We probably haven't seen the end of evolution for that element.

Not too sure about the semi-rotational-lift thing they added to the pSt in front of the judges. The step that it replaced was very simple but showed off their deep edge well and accelerated their speed throughout, whereas I felt the new flourish slowed them down a bit at the exit and also is somewhat similar to what they do in one part of their FD.
