Deniss Vasiljevs

Agnes R -- Can't even imagine how long it took to do all that translating. Thank you so much! It gives us so much insight into Deniss.

There is a new interview with Stephane and of course, he talks quite a bit about Deniss, among other interesting things. He says they have a very good friendship and a special bond that is more than a coach/student relationship. :luv17: It is hard to believe they've been a team for just over one year, but I suppose it's because they do seem so close.

I hope there will be some practice reports & pics from Japan, although I know they are really strict about such things there.

In his planned content he took out the 4T, so it looks like he just wants to focus on skating clean programs for now.

It seems that his SP stays the same as in Lombardia and Rostelecom - fine, it works beautifully. However his FS layout has been changed, two combinations changed their places and 3F is put in the end. Reasonable move imo, these should help him to keep still better to the music and overcome stamina issues (if there are any). Fingers crossed for clean both SP and FS. Go Deniss!

My family keeps fingers crossed. Japan has been a lucky country for him. He will feel their support. If he doesn't have to be anxious about a quad, he might present a wonderful performance! And it seems that the competition won't be so tough because there are some changes in the list of the participants.
The quads will come soon, I'm sure about it!

Deniss made a remarkable improvement between Rostelecom & NHK last year, and I feel the positive vibe that he will deliver again! (That said, I don't think I will get a blink of sleep tonight, with all the butterflies going crazy in my stomach - he will skate right around midday our time!) I am good with the layout. If they are going to make the change later in the season, I would rather see one of the 3A in the second half, than an introduction of 4T...

Ah darn -- what a shame on the 3A. Beautiful 3Lz-3T. Ryan Bradley was very complimentary of the power and passion of Deniss' skating in his commentary.

It was sooo wonderful!! I don't think somebody could do it better, not even Stephane himself. So sorry for 3A!

I continue to love his program more and more, even when it isn't perfect. And it was a beautiful opening combo - the best I've ever seen him do

I have re-watched his performance, this time with Russian comments - suggesting that Deniss should go for a training camp with Alexei Mishin to improve his axel/jumps. Quite interesting idea, Stephane benefited from his lessons with Mishin, so does Caro...
Anyway, what a pleasure is watching how his performance develops. It's like seeing a picture made still more beautiful by delicate touches of a paintbrush.
"Tomorrow will be better". I am going to believe you, coach Stephane :)

This alone deserved +200GOE and should have led him to the gold medal :luv17::love: I would have died the happiest death ever had I been in front of this.
He could have done much better, of course, but the required improvements are more than doable. He, as always showed how to bounce back after an error, and spread the Deniss charm all around, he should be encouraged and proud of himself. He gained one place and I fully expect to see him tomorrow in the exhibition, considering his popularity, especially in Japan.

Yes, even though it was messy, there are a lot of good things he can take from today. He had a new FS PB even with 2 pops, StSq3 and a level 2 spin, which means that if he can skate both programs clean, even without a quad he could be nearing 255-260.
Also I am very very happy that his PCS are steadily creeping up to where they should be. Almost 82 for the FS today. :yahoo:

There would be two of us. Or the whole row of dead in highest pleasure

His FS today was exhilarating    Two first parts are better over and over, with all these nuances in gesture, moves, posture Deniss adds every time he performs. And the last part is gripping from first to last secunde.

And I am also hoping we will see his EX tomorrow. Last year he was invited, having been 6th as well.

Im happy that Deniss today was back in his spirits because yesterday I saw something was off before he even started to skate. Today was exiting :)
But I want to share my fan girlish vision about Deniss FS music choises. The first part represents Deniss before he met Stephane - jazzy, in a waiting mood - living, working and waiting for something big to happen. The next part represents Stephane before he met Deniss - will I have anyone to love (remember that love has many different forms) He is thinking about life and feeling a bit alone. Aaaand the third part is when they meet - Sway with me :) I know its a bit silly but know the FS makes sense for me - maybe it helps someone else too. Sry for bad english - its not my first and im on the phone.
But overall - GO DENISS!!!

I completely agree! He was definitely bringing more flavor to the first 2 sections...now, if we can just do that and land all the jumps

I'd be stunned if they didn't invite him to the gala. Stephane & Deniss are well loved in Japan.

Well according to the draft he's in!

Edit: I forgot to post it earlier, but I came across some photos from Rostelecom Cup with some amazing shots of Deniss. This one is my favourite

I recorded Deniss and Stephane's interview before the gala, you can watch it here they are such a great team :luv17: )

Also, did anyone notice that Deniss was wearing Stephane's outfit from "Water" during his gala?
