Well, I was actually afraid of that when I saw it. He took some time to get ready. Unfortunately, there was the deduction.

Anyway, the fall (more like a slip, actually) wasn't desirable, but he sort of laughed at himself and had funny facial expressions after the skate, so I didn't feel too terrible about it.

Argh, I'm so frustrated. After the 4-3 I thought he got this. Argh. I'm so....urgh..Sure it's good that he can take this with humour....but he landed it...he landed it and then fell. And the 2 point deduction is a mystery. Shoot. I'm really angry, and I hope that Shoma can channel this into something bigger tomorrow. I want him to win this thing.

Besides that damn 3A (but a cute reaction) this is artistically the best of all Winters he has performed. Now wishing for the best in Blurandot.

Time deduction for what? Was he really too late getting into position? I gotta watch it again. Shoma and Mihoko looked really confused by the deduction as well.

I thought the performance was super. That's why that stupid fall is so frustrating to me. But Shoma is a strong LP skater, he will be back tomorrow and I still believe he can win this.

I understand. My feelings as well. It doesn't matter he laughed, I'm sure he feels bad. But as you say he will channel to much bigger. Chin up everybody here!

I’m really confused on that time decduction too. I already rewatched a few times and he DIDN’T take that long at all.

And that damn 3A ..urgh. It was such a beautiful performance and he fought so hard despite the pressure. I’m sooo proud of him.

Did he change the music? I mean that's the same music he used in all the competition and never got a deduction

yes he changed the music on step seq and last spin. he said himself in press conference that bc he changed the music he had time violation

Well he sure did not get the benefit of the doubt on that call. He must of went over the time allowed to finish behind your music. Hardly anyone ever get this violation.

Home Ice doesn't apply in Japan for japanese skaters, we've seen this before. I think this deduction is absolutely ridiculous. I doubt it'll make a difference overall, but he is 2 points behind Nathan, and since they both are basically very tight it could be the point that he needs at the end. *grr*

I hope the deduction doesn't make him drop the music change, this is my favorite he's done this program all season. The changes and improvement in the choreo have made this program magical, even with the fall I was fully mesmerized by him for the first time this season. Great job Shomita!!

Oh, that's what it was. So odd, don't they usually time and announce the music during run-throughs? You'd think it would be detected then.

By the way, any thoughts on the final pose? He seems to be projecting a harsher Winter.
