EDITED to add: In case people wonder why Nathan has 16.5 points in the "want" list and 19 points in the "will" list. One person didn't give a "want" list, one person didn't vote for Nathan and two people included Nathan in a big group of U.S. men.

But technically only *one* person did not include Nathan on their "want" list at all.
It's also really fun to see Max ranked so highly on people's *want* list. I hope that heartens the hardcore Max fans on GS.

Kudos for not letting one of my favorite threads leave first page. It almost did before you came up with the voting. Wish there where more new news though. What about those conference calls?

As a hardcore Max :luv17: fan, I find it very heartening that he is getting a lot of "wants."

... I don't think Jason, Ashley, the Shibs, or Chock/Bates would be like "Eh I had my experience!" and be less disappointed if they didn't make the team.

Agree with Mrs. P -- in the sense that I do not think Jason, Ashley, et al., are any less hungry than someone who would be a first-time Olympian.

That said, I do think that my own personal reaction to the outcome of team selection will be different for potential first-time Olympians (Max, etc.) vs. potential second-time Olympians (Mirai, etc.) vs. Olympic medalists who are potential second-time Olympians (Jason, Ashley).

Meaning, for example, that I'm pretty sure that I will shed tears (literal tears :sad4 for Jason and Ashley if they are not selected (for whatever reason).
But maybe sliiightly fewer tears than if they did not already have an Olympic medal.
Just my personal reaction. YMMV.

For one thing, I am a crybaby who will be needing a lot of tissues, no matter what. :sad4:
I will be crying sad tears for all of the contenders who are not selected for the team, and I will be crying happy tears for those who are selected.
In both cases, probably lots of extra tears for my picks/favorites.

I don't even have the guts to say more than "too close to call."

I have soft spots for several other competitors (e.g. Alex Johnson and Grant) but I think the above three have the best overall programs and skating.

In my case, if Nathan hadn't got an insane number of quads and wasn't the top contender then he wouldn't be on my want list.
But, like, that's exactly the point. I would feel bad if he wasn't because he deserves it. He isn't my favorite skater, I prefer other styles, but I can't keep him out of the team, imaginary or otherwise.

... also his SP this year is awesome.

Thankfully for me, the people who I want there also have had the best "body of work" season, even if both Jason and Adam had just ok GPFs. I'm with Mrs. P, I don't know if I would be dying for Nathan on the team if he wasn't a medal contender. I love his short and the way he sells it, but his long still feels... eh, for me. I like him, but he has yet to reach "fave" category. Buuuuuut the men that aren't on my list don't really sell their skating to me on an artistry level any more than Nathan does, so I'll keep him!

It heartens me. Hope all those "want" people don't immediately forget about him if Adam makes the team at Max's expense.

As for the Nathan thing, well, since Joshua's not going to be at Nationals, somebody had to fill the third spot on my Want Team, and Nathan seems like a nice enough kid, plus he actually rotates his jumps and has a decent jump technique and can actually do what he tries most of the time. So he was an acceptable candidate for that third spot.

Mine were Nathan, Max, and Vincent. I'm not so sure about Vincent now... but I'm not changing... although deep in my heart, I think Adam might oust him.
