I have a hunch they're going to use body of work to send Adam over either Ross or Vincent. Most likely over Ross.

It kinda is! I'm seeing it being passed around by non-skating fans and most of them think Tara and Johnny are completely clueless and out-of-touch, which makes it even better. :laugh:
 
I wouldn't be upset if Adam gets placed on the team but I honestly don't think his "body of work," while certainly superior to that of Ross and Vincent, is frankly enough to justify it. He isn't a medal contender and his narrative is nowhere near as strong as Ashley's in 2014 (where the precedence was set). They can't just keep using it every possible chance otherwise nationals becomes a joke. USFSA need to be selective when pulling that card out and I don't think Adam is one of them :slink:

Body of work is just BS talk for - who is going to realistically do better at the Olympics? If you had to bet - would anyone choose Miner over Rippon? Would you trust a statistical aberation, especially at Nationals where results don't predict international results very well.

With that in mind, why should USFSA care unless said person is podium contender. I am 100% for Rippon on the Worlds team with Vincent, because Worlds is where placement as a team actually matters to earn spots for the following year.
 
After letting this sink in for a bit and reading the discussion here and in the Men's FS thread, I am leaning towards the opinion that Nationals should be the Olympic qualifier, fullstop. Body of work should be considered for Worlds, because that is the competition that earns future spots and it's smart to choose the skaters who have the highest scoring potential based on both Nationals and past results. Everyone wants their Olympic glory moment, but at the end of the day, scoring high at the Olympics doesn't qualify you or your country for anything.

This isn't the way it works right now, obviously. So....God help those who are actually responsible for this decision.
 
Vincent is the ONLY one skater consistently put out almost clean 5 quad FS in all practice sessions in 2018 US nationals. Who in the world can do that?!

Even Nathan can NOT do that in this event, Nathan is a bit sick in this event. But SO PROUD of what he did when it mattered, BOI get the job done.

If USFS do NOT sent Vincent to 2018 OG

They are not only stupid but also it is a CRIME!
 
FOR those of you think boys (vince and nate) cannot do ARTISTRY.

Check out Nathan and Vincent's ALL triple programs when they are like what 12 years old.

BOYS easily wipe out 3L-L-3f and 3F-2LO-2T at the last minute of program! NO LESS

And better watch the ARTISTRY in their gala tomorrow too.

What a mess. Only Nathan deserves to go to the olympics and then who wants to go? I would send Adam based on the body of work but it is awkward because Ross fluked out and came second it would be easier if he was third. Vincent is still inconsistent. Again, what a cl uster mess like the ladies. No issues about the placements but really a mess, a big mess. Exciting and yay for Ross and Vincent but this is as clear as mud for the second and third sp ots. Ross really did well HERE but elsewhere not so mu ch and Vincent has struggled - I really would send Adam. There is no hope of sending Brown on his body of work this year. But we will see.
 
Nope Vincent is the MOST consistent in term of 5 quads complete FS in this event!!!

He is almost clean is every practice session!!
 
US nationals is probably the MOST pressured event for Vincent

Yet his 5 QUAD program has achieved the consistency to deliver even under such pressure.

Vincent will only do better at OG, if been sent to 2018 OG, there he will represent USA, and will be supported by the whole Nation.

And the pressure will be on Nathan BOi (to get the GOLD for US) then.

I believe Vincent CAN deliver consistent 5 quads program if sent to OG.

I don't think so. Think of the PR nightmare. Ross got the silver medal, the highest anyone could have possibly placed, and he still doesn't get to go to the Olympics?

Yes, Ross Miner has been a mediocre, has-been skater for the last 10 years but ... I don't know. Does 10 years of being a mediocre, has-been skater, who also was once on a World's team that only got 2 spots -- does that override a silver medal? We know it overrides a bronze but not a silver
