There IS a clear selection process in place, and it has been outlined multiple times. It’s the same as the one used for the last Olympics; it led to Ashley Wagner’s selection over Mirai Nagasu. US Championships is one of the criteria; other international competitions come into the mix as well.I would choose whoever the top 3 finishers are by default. If the committee want to try out different selection process then they can set up a new system and use it for the next Olympics and on. If somehow Brown and Zhou are tied in scores at the end, I might lean towards Zhou purely for him being a possible medal contender. Brown is known quality at this point and his score potential is limited, but Zhou's is not, and he can be a dark horse.
I added the points up this way, based on a chart published by Jackie Wong. I'll link to it if I can find it.
I gave 3 pts. per gold, 2 for silver and 1 for bronze, and multiplied by 3 for the top tier events and 2 for the second tier.
Nathan came in 1st, Vincent 2nd and JASON came in 3rd. Jason won a lot of medals at the third tier events
If Adam is put on the team, much as I love him, it will look like blatant favoritism, what the figure skating community needs to avoid.
I say, go with either the top 3 or bump Ross (who didn't do well) for Jason. But make it transparent and calculate the results right in front of them.
Maybe it was Adam whose mom was on the selection committee, very sad for Ross though. I would have gone with the top three.
Well the judges mark PCS and GOE. The technical panel marks levels and URs. So the same people were not making those decisions.Yes, it's funny to see people whining on twitter that he got too many ur calls because the judges were trying to help Jason/Adam when at the same time the judges gave him nearly 20 points more in PCS than he got at his last int'l event.

It makes sense. Ross is nice to watch when he succeeds but that seems to happen once every blue moon.
The biggest problem is that if Zhou was scored fairly on PCS and wasn't given like 15 more points than he should for the FS, Ross would be going. I really doubt they'd go through the trouble of flipping Ross for Zhou in that case.
Lol, this is not even funny. Ross delivered just this one time in this season and his previous one wasn't also good. Adam absolutely deserves to go.
I definietly agree, but there is another factor. At 2014, when Ashley was chosen over Mirai, tons of people started attacking US fed that they were racist and chose three blonde white girls. It's possible that there would be such people again and would think that it was racist to put Vincent out of the team (which would be funny, since Nathan could finish last and still would be going for the Olympics).

Adam deserves to go, but I dont see why they didnt bump Zhou instead
Its not like he had a great season, and its not like he can rotate his quads.

USFS should have told Ross beforehand "you will never be qualified no matter what unless you beat Nathan"
Who do you think has the greater chance at an individual medal- Ross or Zhou?
I can't even imagine saying Ross. He had a great skate last night but the chances of him replicating it are slim.
Honestly though, if at Russian Nationals Leonova had had the skate of a lifetime, would you have sent her over an underperforming Sotskova who did great at the GP and had a wonderful season?
Adam was better than Jason during all this season.
GP + GPF this year
Adam: 262, 266 and 254
Jason: 261, 245 and 253
Putting Jason into the team ahead of Adam would be blatant favoritism.
