Anna Shcherbakova

What really makes me sad though is that she left that beautiful Lutz entry out of her second Lutz. I definitely understand why she did it, as she needed to perform a combo there and probably wanted to play it safe. But it's one of my favorite parts of the program...
Yep, I noticed it right away. "Where is my entry?! :tantrum:"
Maybe she omitted it, being short on time or nervous about jumps?

Exquisitely for Shayuki - our smiling silver medalist.:clap:

At least she performed it during the warm up!

Here's to hoping that she'll skate clean at the next competition - And also perform that entry!

And for some more hoping, let's hope that the next competition she'll skate in is Jr. Nationals.

Thank you, it's a nice picture! She didn't smile nearly enough during the FS.

Actually, watching that FS made me realize that she's really not back in more ways than one, interpretation included. Just makes me more excited for how that SP will be in the future!

I'm sorry for asking that, but do we want her in junior nats, knowing she has no chance for medal though? :slink:

I mean, I want to see her again in ten days, absolutely... but are we sure, if the potential weak outcome doesn't affect her in a bad way?:hopelessness:

Same here. But on the other hand, why not? I also think all these conversations about competing after injury are kind of strange, because at trainings they skate their programs many times. What's the difference to skate them at competition once? [emoji848]

I completely agree with you!

She won’t go to Jr. Worlds. It’s very clear who will go. Anna is artistically one of the best skaters, even though she wasn’t on top of her game today! I would give her time... To be in competition with her really strong teammates wouldn't be good at this point. And I think without any pressure she will rise faster and stronger!🔥🔥🔥💫

I'd say, if the coaches are able to lower her expectations and prepare her mentally for possible bad outcome/unfair judging then go for it.

But I'm not sure, if Eteri Tutberidze is the right person for lowering expectations of an athlete... :slink:

Well... You're not wrong, in a sense. She really has no chance to medal judging by these performances and even if she skates clean, she might just barely place in top 10.

But see, I think that if she got to perform to a relatively large audience like what would be at Jr. Nationals that would on the other hand be a very good thing for her, no matter the scores. In addition, she can't just come completely out of nowhere and expect to gain good scores. I still think she needs to have some competitions under her belt and at least a bit of recognition. It'd be tough to just try to only start competing at a top level next season - And it's not even a guarantee that she would get JGP spots if she doesn't perform anywhere this season. A standing ovation for example could go a long way towards that, and those tend to even increase PCS. I also think that it would help increase her fanbase.

Another thing to consider is this: She clearly isn't close to 100%, so why is she skating here already? She started skating much sooner than I believe any of us would have expected. What's the purpose behind doing so? To me, the reason is clearly so that she could make a case for skating at Jr. Nationals. I just don't see any other reason. Unless you believe in coincidences...

Of course, if she has a really poor showing, that might affect her negatively. But she'll always have the injury "excuse" to fall back on, so it shouldn't be such a big deal. On the other hand, if she has a good showing, it could drastically improve her status and essentially guarantee JGP spots for next season, also. Especially because people might recognize that she still hasn't fully recovered. I just think there'd be a lot more to gain than to lose. It's a very high profile competition for Russian junior skaters, after all.

And of course, I also want to see her skate again soon. So that's the selfish part...

Moreover, she is going to skip the second Junior Nationals in a row due to injury.
Yep. Tarakanova, for instance, has participated twice already, can you imagine?
Anna may stay with 0 nats appearances after this season, while her junior group colleagues will have 2-3. :ohwell:

And Gubanova will enter her 5th jr nationals...

If Shcherbakova doesn't participate there this season she really is going to need to have incredibly strong season next season, and get at least one JGP spot to show what she's made of. The good news is that I'm incredibly confident in her ability to skate clean when she's regained her form. So I fully expect her to be able to deliver next season when she needs to, assuming she's able to stay healthy.

Even so, doing something this season would still really help...

It always bothered me, you know... Kitchen's experts. Like group of people came to the kitchen and decided to make videos. What? Nobody is doing it. We'll be the first! And that's a result... Watching/hearing/reading these pathetic opinions it's like you're Gubanova, Shcherbakova, Tarakanova, Berestovksya, Samodelkina or Akatieva and you're watching Bradie Tennell's skating. Just like that. If they were first, it doesn't mean they know something. Just ugly reality, when absolute zero is something, and the real talent is nowhere.

Btw, there is important question: which sp is better - her old one or new? I can't decide.. :slink:

Many great sport commentators have never practiced the sport they're covering, besides afaik Dave is an active recreational skater and had cooperated for a long time with 2000 World Junior Champion Jennifer Kirk, so it's not like he sees "the kitchen" for the first time in his life. Secondly, one can't deny he speaks much with skaters, coaches, choreographers and journalists, so he must have learnt something, if only by that. Finally, even if the way he talks about the sport is arrogant, instigating and sometimes very ugly, there is much sense to it.

Like in case of the most beautiful skater in all of Russia with gorgeous skating skills and artistry from her soul. :agree:

Btw, there is important question: which sp is better - her old one or new? I can't decide.. :slink:

What's important here? Of course the current one. The previous one, except her cute hair, was a total garbage with ugly set of sounds instead of music. Absolutely painful to watch.

Btw, beautiful Undino... We were waiting from you at least one video of Russian Nationals... But nope... Just dead silence. We're really upset! Just know that!

The decision is easy for me!

In my opinion, her old SP held her back and didn't really play to her strengths. The new SP on the other hand is absolutely fantastic with so much potential! I'm really happy with it. And I'm sure I'll become even more happy with it competition by competition~

It was enjoyable to watch just for her but well, yeah... After the intro there were little to no highlights and the choreo was boring. What's worst, the forced stiff arms just took away one of the best aspects of her interpretation! Not much reason to watch that again... It's probably my least favorite program of hers of all time. So happy she no longer is chained by that.

Didn't know that were people out there who are waiting for a video! :reye: I planned a video about Junior Nationals (best event of the season!) and of course, for Anna's special day, March 28! I still try to figure out how Anna's dad do this amazing videos of her. Maybe I should ask him...

Out of topic: I also thought that a video about Mie Hamada would be very interesting (I already began to write some ideas down) but it's so difficult because I didn't understand a word Japanese and I also don't know who she is coaching since she coaches all age groups.... So this will be take a long time if I can produce anything productive about her... (Eteri was a whole different story..).
But firstly I will go to Europeans, so I will most likely edit a video about Jr. Nationals (it doesn't make sense.. probably about the upcoming junior battles for the season 2018/19) after this event... 🤔
