Gabriella Papadakis & Guillaume Cizeron

I know that what they come for is the competition, not the Opening Ceremony, but I feel for them for missing it, it must be an amazing experience...

They'll be the French flag bearers next Olys, so they probably don't care about missing this one. ;)

The judges reallly want them to win, so really there's no need to show these changes earlier. They'll just be icing on a very delicious cake.

And for anyone who thinks I'm exaggerating, everything I've said this season has come true (like how they will break WR every competition, etc.), so why doubt me now? LOL.

To be a bit more precise, they have been working on a plan to dramatically improve their programs competition after competition. This is how they managed to accumulate so many season bests and WRs.

Let's go back to Europeans. They introduced in Moscow their new Circular Step sequence which is one of the stunning moments of their FD. They worked intensively to get it ready by mid January. They celebrated Christmas in Montréal, not in France, to extend as most as possible their preparation. They also worked very hard on additional great enhancements, on both SD and FD, but they wanted to polish them first, prior including them into their official programs and, moreover, they wanted to show them for the very first time at OG.

Be prepared for amazing programs!

Oh, Alain, what would we do without you! Thank you so much for all your highly-informative and perfect messages! :) I don't think I need to add how much I can't wait to see these enhancements.

The Circular step at Moscow was the same, wasn't it.........

At Worlds last year, the Dist got changed, the choreo twizzles changed to a transitional sequence, and the choreo lift at the end was changed with a choreo spinning movement leading in to it. All those changes were great. Here's to hoping to seeing the new changes at the Olympics........

They changed the initial turns into something multi-directional in Moscow. And the steps leading into the curved lift. Other than that I didn't see any major changes.

I'm pretty sure I saw a recent instagram story from Gaby where she tagged her location as Montreal, in fact I might have just seen it today but it's gone now, replaced by one of her singing and she looks very much at home! So yes, definitely not in Korea yet. Like some of you mentioned, I definitely hope they'll be in Korea in time to get acclimatized with the timezone, the weather, the media presence etc. and get some good practices in at the practice rink.

I follow some other athletes on social media as well, and seeing them document the Olympics every step of the way makes me excited, but at the same time I could understand G&G's decision to not partake in this so much because it could be pretty overwhelming and distracting, I feel. I hope they do have plenty of time to soak up the Olympics after their events though, and Korea - it's a beautiful country. Their first Olympics yet they're busy training - I guess this is what it takes when you're going for Gold :)

That said, I haven't really seen that much of them both in Korean media. There have been a couple of videos and posts up, following their multiple world records, and well, Guillaume has long been known for his looks since a couple years back lol. Perhaps it will all come when they arrive, but also, as a Korean myself I think Koreans were more invested in the ladies event in the past since we had Kim Yeon-ah, but now that she's retired, I guess things are realigning. This will probably be a good time for them to gain recognition there too. I'll be checking for articles on them both in the coming days :) Also fun fact, the figure skating fan community in Korea calls G&G, 파씨 in short, because of the way their names are spelt in Korean, and that translates to PaCi in english. Heh.

There was also a change to the choreo lift (a small one). I preferred the GPF one......

Vanessa & Morgan appeared briefly on the national news today. None of the French figure skaters is going to the Opening Ceremony because it's way too cold and they have to stay healthy. So for those thinking G&G might be disappointed to skip it, they would have skip it anyway. ;) (And this is what I would have wanted - so it's actually turning for the better to stay in Montreal for now).

And as a French person, it's reassuring that the French team doesn't go, because I want them all to do well and stay very healthy. Actually, I would like every skater to be at a top form not just the French one, I don't want anyone to have a missed opportunity because of a stupid cold.

I think it was a wise decision to stay in Montreal for now, and get in another extra training week at Gadbois, where they have everything they need for training. On Vanessa's Instagram (or was it on Morgan's? idk) there was footage of a filming crew in their apartment at the village, I suppose they had to do media work as well, so Gaby and Guillaume are shielded from that additional pressure. Really judging from the skaters' social media, there's A LOT going on. I'm glad Gaby and Guillaume can peacefully finish their preparation now. :)

Whatever Steffany Hanlen has devised to keep their mental game strong, I'm here for it.

Yep, it was for this video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYnZ7ysoT1I (I don't know if it's geoblocked though).

There many many articles that are coming up about strong chances of gold in France, and their names are everywhere. They said in the past they don't feel French mediatic pressure too much because they live in Canada and I'm just glad they do especially now because they can avoid this.
Instagram is insane since 3 or 4 days, I agree, but it's feeding me well
Other big names : Boyang Jin, Sui/Han, all the OAR skating team (I think) won't attend the Opening Ceremony this year too. Safety and Health first. They'll all have time to party hard after. :agree:

Of course the video is geoblocked

Same here, I really enjoy seeing (uhm, stalking... :dance2: ) the athletes explore the village and share their impressions! :)

Thank you for the link! That's a very interesting article. I bet some people would be surprised to hear that Gabi's free dance dress took 30 hours to make - and that's just the sewing, too, not the creative time spent on it beforehand!

I think it was the SD one ;)

Let's share some information with you.

Gaby and Guillaume won't participate to the Team event as officially announced by the French fed. If you read the official FFSG communiqué carefully, they say P/C are "working on sensational/great ("surprising" in the French version but I would rather translate it as "sensational/great") modifications to bring them to the OGM"
I've always said that SD needed ostrich feathers and a somersault.

I'm quite sure that with the "danse originale" the author means the short dance: formerly known as Original Dance. Gaby's costume with all the bling clearly will have taken a huge amount of time to create.

Yep, it's the SD one, 30 hours to make it and more that the half of that was just used tu put ALL the jewels on it
I still love that costume. My friend doesn't like it (she calls it a Vegas Hula dress), but for me, it's perfect. Gabriella looks gorgeous in it, everything blings and swings and it fits the whole SD perfectly. I really love it, it's spot on what I would want to wear in such a situation. Loveitloveitloveitloveitloveit
