Wenjing Sui & Cong Han

Worried about the fs. Feel like the Russian pair were a bit over scored and now they're skating last makes me think that the judges can easily overscore them enough to win gold.

what a breahtaking performance and the most emotional Sui looked in a while!! this was another level of skating both technically and artisticly, i agree that PCS is too close with Russian team , hopefully it wont affect the placements! as long as they are clean at LP gold hopefully is theirs!! :luv17: so nervous and excited at the same time :yahoo::hap57::dbana:

I read that Sui was so nervous that she started crying when she was doing her makeup  , wow, it was totally imperceptible, she looked so relaxed and eating the World

Just finished watching their short and all I can say is that shouldn't their PCs at least have been in the 38s? All seasons they been in the high 37s, and I felt this was the best they ever been with this program.

second to last group curse.... :disapp: :disapp:

I think if Wenjing nails the salcow they will win the gold. The German pair is 6 pts behind so I think even if they skate clean it wouldnt be enough. What I'm worried about is the Russian pair. I hope the judges dont overscore them. Their SP score is making me suspicious.

I just don´t understand it. Why S/H have not enough advantage?. In ice dance, the rest of teams are not allowed even breath the same air as P/C and V/M, but here where the difference in quality is higher, they are practically tied :curse:.

Anyway. Good luck in the LP :hap10::hap10::hap10:

Final Group PCS. T/M skated last with better SBS jumps and twist. Throw is debatable - both ladies have massive height and flow, but the difference is in the men - I'd give them a tie, with advantage going to S/H due to BV.

Yes we want a bigger lead for S/H to cushion Sui's Salchow problems. Maybe the PCS gap should be larger in the SP, but they aren't going to score less than 80.92 since they did better here than in Team Event. Even if you give them exactly what they got at Team Event, the point differential is still very small (1.47). Either way, S/H have to be perfect to win, but so does T/M and everyone else. No one has a buffer, can't even give away points from spin levels!

Btw, any practice videos?

I thought they would come closer to V/T record, but oh well. At least they have some advantage over S/M who have great FS program, unlike T/M... I totally believe they can win. They just need to go with the mindset they went for SP :)

:'(

S/H's victory on Beiing ice will be sweet.

Totally , I mean, just look how long it took to Aliona to get the gold medal, and honestly, at least they did not lose to Candyman. They will be super motivated this quad and a silver medal is fabulous, they were really great, they must be so proud of themselves, congrats!!!! :2thumbs:

Sui and Han, I'm so proud of you two. Wenjing for being so strong and making an unreal comeback after a potentially career-ending injury/operation, Han for being so strong and patient and just an amazing partner through it all. Go get those world titles, and then the OGM in Beijing!

And how lovely was Shen congratulating Aliona. :luv17:

Sui said in the interview after the game, she was so so regretful because the score's such close, but she would accept it and make it as their power in the future. And Cong also felt sorry about the result.
But I think they are so so great today, they took so much responsibility and the pressure was huge. Sui cried which made me heartbroken. They just paid for their young, at least they are the best in young players. :)

its not only the jump errors but they left 1,5 points on the table with their levels which also would have earned them gold, they said they will be at worlds (and so will Aliona and Bruno), hopefully they will have a redemption skate there, dont forget to pray for Cong's SBS too next time

that being said i know it was amazing pairs event but i dont feel like watching FS today, too depressed (and tomorrow men will skate! :dbana:) :sad21: how do you guys deal with this olympic depression/stress/excitement?!?!?!

Olympics are always emotionally taxing :console: A part of me is still getting over 2014!

I'm not as upset as I thought I would be, mainly because I can understand why Sui/Han won silver instead of gold. There seem to be lots of 'they lost from ___" or "if only they had done ___" and in all honesty, there are countless scenarios and elements to scrutinize, however I don't want to focus on that because what has happened has happened already. No point in agonizing over what could've happened. The small point gap is heartbreaking, I'm sure more so for them than any of us watching. Seeing their sad faces during the K&C and medal ceremony wasn't what I wanted to see from them at the end of the Olympics.

Despite all, I'm proud of them for all they've overcome, and I was always a little reassured with the fact that Sui/Han vowed to continue until Beijing. However, as much as I love them, I'm always cautious and tentative to immediately proclaim that they will have the same chance in 4 years. 4 years is a lifetime in skating, especially after following how the pairs field has evolved since 2014. At the time, Sui/Han were only scoring around 70 points in the SP and were basically coming in 3rd in PCS. In this entire quad, they have suffered multiple injuries and surgeries. I don't doubt they can do it, but it does feel like a long time for them to have this chance again. But who knows, S/Z did it in 2010 and S/M did it just now! I'm just hoping for the future to be injury-free. I know the power shifts in skating constantly, and right now S/H are in a great spot. I hope they just hold on a little longer and don't beat themselves up over their silver medal. It's in insane accomplishment; Wenjing wasn't even walking about a year ago. I'll admit that I'm still disappointed, and I'm not in the mood to feel optimistic or assured that they'll still be successful in 4 years. However, I do know that as a fan, I could not be happier with their evolution, journey, and success during this quad, and I only wish for the same and more in the coming seasons.

I have complete faith in them.

It's funny. I didn't even know Yuna or watch fs till I saw her on TV during her Sochi SP. It was right in the middle of her flying camel, and I had to stop browsing through channels right there. Utterly breath-taking, and there wouldn't be justice if she didn't win, I thought. The next day, she lost.

It's a similar story with these two, though much earlier than the Olympics of course. I didn't even watch pairs till I saw these two skate in their first grand prix event. And now they've lost too. What they have in common is mental strength and infinite ability. Just like Yuna continued her journey and lit the cauldron this year, these two will continue their journey and be crowned the winners in Beijing.

Dealing with disappointment... You just have to have faith that people whom it's affecting the most have the ability to deal with it best. We as fans can't do anything.
