2017-18 State of Russian Ladies skating

very funny joke)

but it's not a joke. there's is people who actually count all crossovers that skaters do in a program. i can't find a link now with the statistics for junior ladies, but i remember for sure that alena does more

gubanova has problems with the stamina, but she's nowhere near being slow even in the FS. actually in the SP she skates faster than alena, usually in the SP she skates about 50-70 meters more in distance in comparison to kostornaia, while doing less crossovers. your assumptions are not based on anything

Link/facts?

Because if you look at Alena's SP from JW she looks faster now.

Also only Berestovskaya and Gorbacheva reached lvl 3 in the stsq. 🤔

I thought Berestovskaya's step sequence looked surprisingly good. It seems like she changed something with the loops.

I just love the part from here to about 2:27 and how it goes with the music. Always my favorite thing in the SP, along with the layback spin.

Does Gubanova ever get level 3’s on her StSeq :dev3:
From my notes: "Something I noticed is that Gubanova doesn't really have any outside rockers or counters for connecting footwork. Those are considered more difficult than inside ones, I believe. "

Well, you can check if my notes are incorrect.

The transitions for Gubanova are also much more simple with worse flow.

You know, I don't think that lvl 3 vs 4 step sequence consistency is that important at this point in time, especially when you consider the type of steps that Kostornaia misses it on. I usually don't really even care about whether the steps themselves are perfectly accurate because that's something the skaters will be able to fix in time. But a skater's just not going to learn Kostornaia's flip entry out of nowhere.

Sure, look at latest RuNats ladies SP protocols (lvl 3 with nice GOE)

Ok...Nastya got 8.32 for SS while Alena got 8.29. Does this answer our dilemma?

Alright.....I was just being funny anyway but ya get the point I’m sure. They are completely different skaters and have different strengths and weaknesses but pretty level on SS. It’s more of a preference between the two than anything statistical or quantifiable. . People tend to focus on Gubanova’s weaknesses and ignore all of Alena’s. That’s just how it is in this thread.

Ah, no, I was hoping Akatieva would win. I suppose she still can, but I'd hoped she'd have a lead to build off on.

Ok, and what particular weaknesses you see in Alena's SS?
Btw, what do you think about their presentation skills?
